The NorCal Housing and TV+System thread for Genesis (DBR needs YOU!)

Even though this is nearly 7 months prior to the tournament date, we still procrastinated a bit in starting up this thread due to the sheer magnitude of what this tourney's turning into. So here we are:

-This will be the thread where we ask every smasher in NorCal who might conceivably be able to offer a roof over some very needy OOS (and possibly out-of-country) smasher's heads. Whether you own a home near the East Bay, rent an apartment with a couple friends, or just live with some really chill parents, we need every available smasher's help in providing housing to the masses who will be traveling to the best norcal tourney in years.

-This will also be the thread where we ask every smasher from Norcal, Socal, and anyone from out-of-state with room in their car trunk for help with tourney station setups. We're anticipating this to be the largest smash tourney ever held, and with that in mind we need everyone's help with stocking Genesis with as many TV+system setups as possible to ensure the tourney runs as smooth as silk.

We know that it's still a long time until the tourney date closes in, and a lot can happen between now and July 10th. But if you believe that you may be able to provide either Housing support or one (or multiple) TV / Gamecube / Wii setups, please respond here and I'll update this first post with your information & dedication. Also, although we don't have anything lined up yet, we're planning on providing a decent incentive or two for your housing/setup donations for the tourney (along with helping to put Norcal tournies back on the map :chuckle: )

***If you've got a TV or system setup that you'd be able to allow Genesis to use, please provide the following info: 1.) If it's a TV, please provide the approximate screen size and whether it's a standard/HD/plasma/LCD. 2.) If donating a system, know that while we would Prefer Wiis over Gamecubes due to their dual-compatibility, we will just as graciously accept gamecube setups =) ***

*************************************************************
TELEVISIONS / GAMECUBES / WIIS:

*************************************************************

***If you believe you will be able to provide housing, please provide the following info: 1.) How many people you believe you would be able to comfortably house, and 2.) Your address, so we can determine distance from the venue (If you do not feel comfortable divulging this publicly, you can do so via sending me a PM or messaging me on aim, and I will only list the City in which you live with an approximate mileage distance from your place to the venue) ***

Thank you very much in advance to anyone who is able to play their part in making this tournament a truly epic event. =)

20 inch tv + wii, but and MELEE. I dont know where my copy of brawl is.

People should really stop saying I can house, seeing as I might be moving before Genesis. Maybe I didnt want to.

Regardless, I can house about 6 people. My house is a tad far from the venue (42min barring traffic), but they should handle it.

2651 Orion Street.

Alameda, CA. 94501.

Yesss!!! More More More More!!

Loving the responses on this thread. We are aiming for no less than 50 TV's, but of course the more the better. We can even have up to 80-100 TV's. The more TV's and set ups we have, the smoother the tournament will run, the quicker the tournament will end, and the more time we will all have to relax and hang out with everyone and play friendlies until our hands are bleeding out of every pore. Let's aim for the heavens people, this will be the biggest tournament in the history of smash, let the set ups flood in. We were even discussing waking up butt early the thursday before the tournament, and making the rounds around norcal picking up TV's from everyone so that you don't have to lug it in with your carpool the day of.

i like how this is so organized =)
lol, the other vans... i agree this is looking very responsibly taken care of.

this tourney is looking to be more epic than FC Diamond

i heard many bad things out of OC3, but this looks like redemption

im getting a new car shortly and will likely make a cross country road trip. Not looking for housing just yet till i confirm how many in my car and if this actually pans out.... im also graduating this summer so i dunno things may be a little crazy for me. *crosses fingers*:)

is this the right thread to confirm housing in? or is it just where u find people willing to house?

If you have a TV with a vcr within, PLEASE BRING the remote control that comes with it. Most TVs with a vcr within record at SP by default. By altering it to EP, then we can record a lot more matches on a tape, thus saving money having to buy tapes.

thanks

I don't think anyone is going to need housing....but I can't make the official announcement until it's 100% confirmed....just something to think about, so let your mind wander...

i will be contacting and keeping a database of people who are willing to bring set ups and provide housing..

i may get in contact with you for further info.

also.. bump =)

come on norcal step it up

edit:

i also wanted to stress the fact that the success of this tournament will not soley be placed on our shoulders.. a big factor will be based on how much help and support we will get from the norcal community, i know this is far away from happening but yeah..

So, i just moved, so my info needs to be changed once I learn my address.

Also, my backyard is HUGE! I can fit about 6-8 tents back there if people are willing to camp out + put up with two caged dogs.

If they dont want to keep all those free tvs they can always be recycled and get some money back for them
