...has not started yet. I mean, think about it. There was no year called 0 A.D. Year 1 was the beginning of the first decade, century, and millenium. 2009 years later, 2010 comes along. Therefore, 2011 will begin the 211th decade.

Note: the decade just refers to the 10's place to name a period of time. The 80s were 10 years with 8 in the tens spot, etc.

I think the problem here is that people aren't accepting deep down in their hearts that the year 0 is really reserved for the operating system, and if you try accessing it, you'll get a segmentation fault.

You're making the assumption that we have to break up every year into a decade. First decade began with 10ad-20ad. Years 1-9 were not a decade. Year 2010-2020 is a decade.

0 was a year. I'm not exactly sure what B.C and A.D stand for, i think its Jesus dying or something, well anyway we don't just count down to the year he died then completely skip it and go to 1 A.D, that wouldn't make any sense.

It goes the year before he died, the year he died, the year after he died. AKA 1 B.C, 0, 1 A.D

So in conclusion, 2010 is a new decade.
