miis are soo 2010...

i hate mii's. They look so dated... i wished the wii u had more avatars-like characters from the xbox360 or something... They look more detailed.

Best anti Mii argument i've seen in a long time. i'm serious. lol
Considering Miis debuted in 2007. While Wasp said 2010, that's not saying much :p

Even if he had said an earlier year, it's still not a good one though. As it still stems from "I hate Miis. Therefore they shouldn't be playable", the most common one :p

I'm not a Mii fan but things are adding up. There's stages from 3-4 Miicentric seres in the game and the Mii King/Queen is missing from the cage. Plus you'd think they'd be in the background of the Mii Life Sim one.

The Tomodachi Collection will probably have miis you've created walking around in the background. And the one you're using wont be there. So that means we need to make Alfonzo miis!

Lolz, the arguments anti-Mii bandwagon jumpers give are so bad you just have to laugh at them. Man, I'm gonna troll these boards so hard WHEN (sorry guys, there is no 'if') Miis are revealed :joyful:. I'm not going to shut up gloating.

There's just too many hints that they're in. Let's look at Rosalina and Little Mac.

Rosalina has been hinted since that September picture showing the Mario Galaxy stage, and when the stage was finally revealed in November, Rosalina was mysteriously absent even though other NPCs like Lubba were present. Surely they wouldn't have a galaxy stage without Rosalina, right? Where was she? Well, turns out she's playable.

The Boxing Ring. We all remember how debated that was since its debut in E3 2013. Everything matched up as a Punch Out stage, from the LED banners in the background to the colors of the rope. Why was there this random boxing stage? Surely it HAD to reference Little Mac, or at least the Punch Out series in general. Lo and behold, after 8 long months of just being there and teasing us of its origin and purpose, the boxing stage turned out to be the home of the newest playable character, Little Mac.

And now, for the Mii's case, we have the Pilotwings stage with Wuhu Island, a Mii-oriented stage. And then there's the Find Mii stage without a Mii in the cage. That's gotta mean something. And lastly, the recent Tomodachi Collection stage. To me, it's so obvious that Miis will be in in some major format-- most likely as a playable character.

I think that's mostly hindsight speaking. They could have easily had a Galaxy stage without Rosalina, and I don't think on the reveal of the former that many people were thinking "Now Rosalina must be playable!" I think to say it was a hint specifically at Rosalina is reading too much into it, especially after Rosalina has been revealed.

I'm not doubting that Miis are looking pretty likely, and their apparent absence from all the Mii-related stages definitely raises some questions. But I make it a policy never to get too confident about a character. I like to save the excitement for their actual reveal.

This has probably been discussed somewhere already... but what do you guys think of the Villager's punch moves and bowling ball and whatnot, which to me seem to be ideal for some of the Mii's moves considering Wii Sports and all that? I don't think those exist in the Animal Crossing games, but correct me if I'm wrong. I just get a feeling that maybe the Villager is a "combined" avatar character which thus takes traits from the Mii's as well. But surely there are many hints towards the Mii being playable so I don't know.

That said, I'm pretty indifferent towards the Mii's potential inclusion. Can't say I'm a huge fan of the idea but I still can see it happening and as such I'm preparing myself for a possible reveal haha!

Well, as someone who's pretty neutral on Miis, despite pretty much expecting their conclusion, I can say that all of those things are I believe present in some form in Animal Crossing, with the exception I think of the Balloon Fighter gear.

And even if they did take it from Mii stuff, the thing with Miis is they do have about a million different games to pull ideas from, so I'm sure they're just trying to spread the avatar love and will give the Miis other things to encompass more games.

Miis have a lot of games to draw from so villager and WFT nicking some moves isn't a worry.

There's all the sports equipment from the WiiSports series, Wii Fit Minigames, The random crap from WiiPlay, Instruments from Wii Music and they've been playable in a lot of other games like Mario Kart and M&S at the Olympics.

They could even do the stuff they do on the internet
....Y'know when you're browsing on the internet on the Wii U and you do the curtain thing and your Mii does magic tricks.

I did a thread on this in the Villager sub-forum. You can play as your mii in AC games so I suspect Miis will be an alt costume for villager instead of standalone fighter.

I don't really support this idea much because if you just make them an alt then they wont be representing all the games they were in. I know they are both avatar characters but just sticking the Mii mask on the villager wont do them any justice. I know people assume just because the villager has two sports moves that the Miis has no shot but like I keep saying the Miis do much MUCH more than sports. What about all the other games Miis were in like the Wii games, the street pass games, Tomodachi collection, Nintnedo Land, hell even the Mii channel and various Nintendo GUI. If you just make the Mii a costume for another character they aren't getting the representation they deserve and avatar character or not they still deserve more than just a skin.

The problem is, Wii Sports and Resort are the Miis' largest and most important appearances. It was essentially their "debut", where we got to learn what they were all about and what purpose they served. It seems silly for Sakurai to give moves inspired by their biggest game to a different character. It'd be like giving regular Link the Skull Hammer and Wind Waker while Toon Link has to make do with other items.

I do think that the Villager getting Wii Sports moves is a point against Mii, but not one that ultimately puts them out of the running. It just seems like a strange decision, if the Miis are playable, since them doing sports things is arguably what they're most iconic for.

Yeah, they should add Shadow and Master Chief instead. I don't play stupid baby games like Mario or Animal Crossing. 360NOSCOPEMLGpro

Well just giving them a move set biased off one game out of an entire series, or in the Miis case series, seems a bit off. I know more iconic characters like Mario and Link take move sets from their roots, like Mario having the super jump and fire balls while link has the boomerang. But at the same time their games today have similar styles but with something new to them as you can also see in their move sets like Mario with the FLUDD or Link with the gale boomerang. As shown by various characters in the series a lot of them have moves sets ranging from different games of the characters' respected series. So why dose Mii have to stick with one or two games in a large series while others characters with larger series have move sets ranging from various game.

I don't think the boxing glove or bowling ball are Wii Sports moves. Boxing and bowling aren't really exclusive to the Wii series, and Animal Crossing has furniture sets centered around both of them. To quote the Developer Direct, "Since the game he's from is about collecting, he uses many things." If this is Sakurai's design philosphy for Villager, then the glove and ball moves are probably just his making use of whatever furniture items he happens to be hauling around.

Those sports moves aren't directly referencing Wii Sports. If he was, then he would also be dodging from side-to-side like in Wii Sports Boxing.

Meanwhile I cooked this up for you guys.

My Mii fights with a sword and shield and magic.
On my 3ds.

My Mii fights with boxing gloves
On my Wii.

Maybe multiple movesets, if not customizable, switchable like the Project M Sword Ganon?

He was commenting on how your dislike for Miis stems purely from them being childish. The stereotypical gamer - those gamers who care more about graphics and shooting things than any sort of innovation - tend to hate on Nintendo for their child-friendly exterior. Some of them even take it a step further by talking endlessly about third-parties who are edgier and/or cater to more mature audiences, such as Shadow the Hedgehog and Master Chief. He was playing off of that stereotype, as it seems like the road most traveled by people in your shoes.

In other words, yes. He was being sarcastic.

Oh no! If I wanted playable Miis with swords, shields, and magic in Smash... I would have supported the Wandering Heroes instead. :glare:

well pardon me everyone but i did like the mii's. I just don't like the design... i'm not one who hates the childish factor, i hate the easy designs. Such as Villiger,Mii's, other Animal crossing characters. Just a matter of taste. I play Pokemon, mario, Zelda, DK and many other Nintendo-only's, so I don't get how people assume suddenly that i don't like them for being childish... there was no need for being sarcastic there anyways...

lol... there are thos kind of things that could make the Mii really funny. It indeed has enough titles and games to come up with suitable attacks. But let's hope it'll be your own Mii and not just a standard random one then.

What do you consider an "easy design"? Donkey Kong is literally a gorilla with a tie. (Not trying to be mean or anything, just wondering)

well if you compare Link with Villager, there's a HUGE difference in detail... Link is pretty much detailed bit villager is just a toypuppet, while link looks more realistic. Now I'm not saying everything should be realistic, but I think it's not matching together. Toon Link might be the same issue although I think he's ok... just personal taste i guess... don't really have an explaination for this... It's just that they look so dull... so flat and not detailed. Game&Watch is an exception though, that's just how he looks and is more like a gimmick, but villager, wel, let's say every animalcrossing character is textureless and don't just fit in with the other smashers... but once again, just my taste.

But to stay ontopic, the mii is this same kind of detailless to me... just flat and nothing interesting.

Mii's are something I both love and worry about the idea of their inclusion.
Nothing sounds cooler than fighting alongside your favorite Nintendo Character to pummel mii replicas of those people in life that you just can't stand.

With that being said, what if they were confirmed, and with them, they were given the ability to have custom movesets? Sure, I would expect this not to be a problem in tourney gaming, since they will more than likely be banned. But as a more casual smash bros player, I could imagine going online against a random group of players and in every match, there will always be at least one guy who has their mii with the most overpowered build to him.
I think the Mii's would be a pretty cool addition, but if they do, I just really hope they have a pre-set move list like everyone else. Just being able to play as yourself would make them special enough!
