If there are tournaments in Indiana and Wisconsin, where would they be at?
At this point, I feel, other than having a starting event date locked down, that's the biggest issue is making sure that there are 4 events kinda close to each of the non-North Dakota MW scenes.
I just took point A and point B on google maps and took it from places around the MW to other places, and from what I see, the only fair way to do this for MN/SD is for WI to have an event too.
~6 Hours from main City hub tournaments. 7-8.5 hour drives with *
Minot ND-*MN (Omaha is just under 10 and they would come there).
So 1 tournament within 8 hours.
Huron SD-MN/NE. *KS/WI (chicago/STL are 10 hours)
2 tournaments within 6 hours, 2 in 8.
Omaha NE-MN/KS/MO. IL/WI* (Indiana if it's on the like the VERY FAR WEST CORNER is like 9 hours and I might consider traveling to it)
3 tournaments in 6 hours, 3 in 8.
Lawrence KS-NE/MO. MN/WI/KY/IL/IN*
2 tournaments in 6 hours, 6 in 8 hours.
Saint Louis MO-Literally every single place in the midwest east and west we would host other than MN is less than 8 hours away, which is really funny since MN and MO are a part of the MW:W circuit. Let me repeat that for emphasis. STL is closer to every single east event than one in MN that it is supposed to be grouped with.
Iowa City IA-Iowa city is less than 4.5 hours from every single one of it's Sub Circuit events including the IL championship events and a couple of MW:E events and is less than 8.5 hours from every event.
Minneapolis MN-WI/NE/IL. KS/MO*
4 in 6 hours, 2 in 8
Madison WI-MN/IL/MO. KS/OH/KY/IN/MI*
4 in 6 hours, 5 in 8
(the #'s from Eau Claire don't fudge the data too bad I did look at that since that's where YoshQ/toaster are from, only major travel difference are KS and MI, making it over an 8 hour drive, though it makes my drive way worse if I were to go there and I might :/ Madison is a better location by it being closer to the bottom/middle of WI)
Chicago IL-Only places more than a 7 hour drive from Chicago are NE and KS, and that's 7.something and 8.5.
Wherever IL-Same as Chicago but like 2 hours differences max in drive time.
Ann Arbor MI-OH/IN/KY/IL/WI. MO*
6 in 6 hours, 1 in 8
Indianapolis IN-WI/IL/MO/KY/MI/OH. KS*
7 in 6 hours, 1 in 8
Louisville KY-MO/IL/IN/MI/OH. WI/KS*
6 in 6 hours, 2 in 8
Columbus OH-MI/IN/IL/KY MO/WI*
5 in 6 hours, 2 in 8
Originally what I concluded: From the sounds of it, KY and WI would get about the same # of locals, and KY almost has it as easy as Iowa City in terms of not having to every really drive more than 5 hours for a tournament where as WI has a lot of potential long roads.
If we have it set at 4 events per and 2 IL events, I think it should be fair.
What I have come to now: Iowa not having an event sucks because it's right in the middle of the MW:W, but it's pretty fair for them to not have to drive far to get to any of the circuit events. Kentucky not having an event is similar because they have easy drives ahead of them. The only difference is that it doesn't do as much harm travel wise to not have an event there, except for Ohio.
Now, granted, MN, WI, KS and NE all get screwed over harder than OH does, but all the other scenes in the MW:E have to travel less than 5 hours to at least 5 of their events.
I just saw how far the OH players have to travel other than the MI/IN/IL events if KY doesn't have an event, and that doesn't seem as fair, just like things weren't fair for the MN players in the previous situation.
So I think we should just have 9 events plus the two in IL. Since we are just taking the 4 best scores, why not just let their be a 9th tournament and not really "Split" it up. We could still hold true to having a MW:W event then a MW:E event and then MW:W then MW:E etc...
KS, MO, NE, MN, WI, KY, OH, IN, MI and IL X2.
Also if we can find someone to host in Iowa, that would work and we could just do 10 like I said a while ago, but I suppose it's easier to do 8 events.
And if we do just 8 events (plus the 2 IL ones) we should let WI have an event and not KY.
