While they do share the name Roy, it's very easy to differentiate between them. A human swordsman, and a turtle with (rad) sunglasses in a clown car are near impossible to mistake. This is a game where 8 players can all pick and play Mario, too. If it comes down to it, Roy (Fire Emblem) should carry the Roy name, while the koopalings all receive "Koopa" at the end of their names to make them easier to not only differentiate with Roy

I don't think that is possible... Koopa is the japanese Bowser's Name, and also... change 7 characters's name for Roy?... I see more probable that both characters are called "Roy".

I said the same thing about the Japanese exclusive direct, which didn't really make much sense, but now...this just fits together like a jigsaw puzzle.

There will always be haters, but most of them are just trying to rustle jimmies. Especially the ones on Gamefaqs. Don't take those bandwagon trolls seriously.

I think a lot of people on gamefaqs are just really loud. I've seen some people that want Roy to return, some who are indifferent, and some who would prefer someone else. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of Roy fans/supporters are hesitant to even post on gamefaqs due to the loud detractors. And I don't blame them.

There will always be haters for whatever character, though I do think the people who want Roy to return greatly outnumbers the haters. Roy would be a profitable character in the end anyway.

General Smashboards: 3:2, some parts feel like 2:3 or 1:3.
GameFAQs: Unsure but we're probably outnumbered there, though it's one of the smallest parts of this list.

This could differ greatly from person to person. I base it off Yeah!'s versus support and hate comments on Miiverse, like/dislike ratios on YouTube and sometimes their comments, likes on Facebook compared to support and hate comments as well as being in a fairly large Roy support group there, forum posts, favorites vs. retweets & replies, etc. on both Roy support posts and hate posts.

A lot of people will hate his inclusion, but they don't have what it takes to outnumber us if we all voice our excitement. A lot of people hate any given character's inclusion. There's a reason we have a near-500 group on Facebook that supports Roy and no groups designed to stop Roy from getting in, and why we have a Roy support thread as big as this and no Roy hate threads that will come to 1/100th of this thread's size.

People get too wrapped up in how much they hate characters on the roster or DLC picks. The roster being complained about more than general mechanics and little single player content compared to the last few games is proof.

Smash Bros presentation on June 14th. Nintendo just keeps announcing these things, out of nowhere, and I'm getting beyond excited. If this is separate from the E3 Digital Event, then it must be something big. I'm really looking forward to seeing what new stuff they're gonna show, and hopefully we'll see a new character, most likely, Roy, Wolf, or Ryu.

To be honest.... that, along with the whole "it could be outdated info" always was a case of grasping at straws, especially as any differences a character had was enough to make them a separate character. The only reason why anyone would argue against Roy and Ryu's likelihood at this point despite overwhelming evidence pointing towards their inclusion is because they personally do not want them, because at the end of the day, a Melee veteran that was planned for Brawl and a video game icon that actually had several of his games released on a Nintendo console aren't really all that far-fetched as far as DLC inclusions are concerned.

What I'm hoping for:

Soon: Roy
Concert: Announcement on something FE6 related to tie in with Roy, or Street Fighter x Fire Emblem, or (what I want most of all, I would rather have this than any coming games) just an announcement or speech that doesn't tie into upcoming game content so that we can appreciate it for what it is: a damned 25th anniversary concert to commemorate a wonderful series that doesn't get nearly enough love or orchestrated music overall instead of everyone overshadowing it with coming game content.

Because they were the ones with sound files in the games? That's not to say that their the only 2 that can be revealed at the event.

I personally believe that Roy will be shown in the Smash Direct. Ryu will be shown off at E3, destroying everyone. Then a Nikita hits Ryu, Snake does his Signature, "Kept you waiting, huh?" and then challenges the world warrior to a fight, CQC vs All of Ryu's fighting styles.

I also think Wolf will be shown off after Star Fox Wii U is, with the trailer for Star Fox Wii U ending with Can't Let You do that Star Fox, then immediately after a smash trailer is shown for Wolf.

Y'know, their were 5 placeholder files in 1.0.6. Obviously, one was for Lucas, the other 2 for Ryu and Roy, one for Wolf, and then their was one last one were not too sure about.

Honestly, if that spot was indeed for Snake, I would legit fanboy like crazy.

I would be willing to bet money on all of my predictions, except Snake. Wolf and Ryu are the easy ones, Roy is slightly harder to place, but it seems very believeable for Roy to be shown off during the Smash Direct on the 14th. No offense to Roy, but Wolf makes more sense to be shown off at E3 with something Star Fox related.

Ryu is too big and too out of left field to be shown in a twenty minute direct. He would be much better shown off at E3 than on the 14th. He isn't a veteran like Roy or Wolf, so he would be best as one of Nintendo's bullets in its E3 ammo belt. If there wasn't a Star Fox game being shown off at E3, then yes, I would say it could go either way, Roy or Wolf as a safe an easy bet for the 14th.

Snake, well, I am wanting Snake back very much, so I will take him anywhere, just like you guys and Roy. Roy is my second most wanted DLC character, only behind Snake. My Signature says that I want Snake back just a bit more than Roy.

Of course, this means nothing. Nintendo has done very unusual things in the past, like showing off NSMB2 just weeks before E3, or not showing off the Nintendo 3DS XL @ E3 2013. They also could surprise everyone by showing Roy at E3, not Ryu. They could do a Pac-Man reveal, closed doors, press only, for Ryu. Or Nintendo could show off everything Smash related in the Direct, and nothing at E3. Or Vice Versa, nothing new Smash related in the direct, only a recap and show everything new at E3. Or a 3rd option of nothing new at the direct and nothing at E3, with more info later.

There is really no telling with Nintendo.

It's true, in my PM build some of my only alts are Melee Fox with James shades and Brawl Fox with James shades.

Snake was OP IMO. Way too heavy for weapons based character. Long range fighters should be light and he was surprisingly heavy for a human... No matter of manly and built he was

Then again... All those guns did have to go somewhere... We all know Peach keeps her extras in her magical "Gucci pocket". Snake must've taken a lesson from her and utilized his "man cave" in the rear!

Nintendo World Championships: Ryu gets revealed

E3 Nintendo Digital Event: Wolf and Roy get revealed after their respective games related to their series are shown off.

July/August Nintendo Direct: Snake gets revealed

I personally think this schedule would be a lot more interesting then the one that gets brought up a lot. Basically, everyone expects Wolf and Roy to be revealed at the Smash Direct but instead it's the IC's which shocks everyone (they wouldn't take a long time to develop as they were done on the Wii U and nearly done on the 3DS). Ryu would be the grand reveal at the NWC and Wolf and Roy would be revealed in the Digital Event 2 days later after a Star Fox/Fire Emblem game is shown off. A month or 2 later Snake gets revealed at a direct which gets back all the very important veterans in the game and then lets the Smash Ballot take care of all the Newcomers for Smash 4.
