ive meet steep and yoshq, and when i say i met steep, i mean he was at the same tournament as i was at
but on another note, i think you can get a jab lock thing using side-b, not that it will ever be useful in anyway

Welcome to the boards, Delta.

Just learn the snake match-up & practice as often. PS (power shield) is your BF against snake.

Thanks for tips, I may post some of my matches from a tourney a while back on the video critique thread, I've had some friends in my crew go over it, but its always good to get opinions from someone who actually mains the character.

Btw, any luigis from planning on going to Smashachusettes IV?

Something's been on my mind lately, and most of you play Mario along with Luigi so you can give input as well.

At this point in the metagame, are Mario and Luigi really a whole tier apart? They both get demolished by the most important character in the game, and they lose to most of high tier as well.

Luigi's got the upper hand in brute strength and a fear factor in general, but I really miss the extra mobility that I have when I play Mario. Although, said extra mobility isn't very helpful when Mario doesn't have many options that actually scare the opponent. Luigi does, but he can't get and stay in >_>

Yeah your right. Just to add Mario has moderate knockback, low damage output, good mobility, and cape. But mario and luigi have to win in a different ways against each character( I don't want to elaborate on this, but I'm sure some of you get the point).

Sure Luigi has several killing moves, but they lack either range or good set ups.
1. Up b (small range) (requires a set up or a good read to land) (character weight affects the ability to land this move)
2. Fsmash(small range) (terrible set ups)
3. Misfire(good range) (un realiable as a kill move)
4. Up smash(small range) (terrible set ups to get kills)
5. Nair(small range) (terrible set ups and only the first few frames hit)
6. bthrow( good set up) (lack of knock back)

This doesn't help when you have to play characters like Snake, olimar, falco, and marth.

Mario on the other hand has great kill moves, decent range, but terrible damage output. His damage output is so bad that when I play as mario I not only spam fireballs, but I have to spam jab to rack up damage. Also Mario has good setups, but it doesn't help since he only lacks knock back in his moves.
1. Fsmash(okay setups) (moderate knock back)
2. Dsmash(excellent set ups for example fireball to dsmash) (moderate knock back)
3. Upair(works best offstage) (moderate knockback) Also this move comes out quickly.
4. Upsmash( no set ups) (terrible knockback)

In terms of mus sure mario can kill metaknight at like 130 % with a fireball to dsmash setup, but that won't work on snake. Snake would probably die at least at 170% fireball to dsmash set up, but the dsmash would probably have to be fresh.

They might as well be a whole tier apart. Luigi will earn a kill on most characters at 120%, but mario won't get his first kill until 130-150% and that is only on a few characters. But I could see them in the same tier since they both in a sense lack the ability to even get a kill. Luigi no range and no mobility, Mario has range, but not enough knock back in his moves to kill.

I truly agree with sama on the mario input....

When it comes down to playing mario, you have to be innovative & think outside the box.
Being successful with mario derives mainly off the players knowledge and how
well he reads his opponent(s), It's all about the mindgames.

You forgot to add f-tilt. fireball approach > f-tilt is amazing against those who spot dodge.
F-smash when sweet spoted w/fire can kill early around 110 or less. (Depends on weight class)

Fludd is also amazing for defense, spacing, FIHL (Fludd Induced Hit Lag) & edge guarding.
The only four marios that are good at using the fludd is flameleon, me, famous &
Vatobreak.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQfKZ-FYUHs <-Quick detail on using fludd.

Learning how to use fludd can help mario mains play well in tourneys.
I know cuz i was ****** marths & falcos at a tourney 2weeks ago. ;)

www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzJIdR1mKaA <-This fludd guide by vatobreak is also legit.

I'm glad you put in some F.L.U.D.D input. I felt like talking about it, but I didn't know how to explain its use. I just use it for spacing or for positioning my opponent so that I make them go where I want them to go.

So for those close to finishing college or at least have their eyes on a job how are things going for you?

I applied for this exam through the county here and if I can score high on this exam I can get a job as a Evidence specialist trainee. Pretty much I'll be trained to be a regular evidence specialist. For those not familiar with the job, an Evidence specialist goes to crimes scenes and records part of the evidence. They will viideo tape the crime scene, take and lift fingerprints from either a surface or a corpse, analyze fingerprints using AFIS(Automated fingerprint identification system), and take pictures of evidence.

I hope I can get it especially since it is a field of Criminal justice that interests me. The funny part is these exams come with a study guide, but this one didn't come with a study guide.

That's cool Sama, I recently studied math education, but just recently switched to math with a minor in finance.

On another note, I'm trying to learn b-reversal fireball. I can do it ok after just after a regular jump, but I'm having trouble doing it as I'm coming down after being juggled/ hit upwards. I know it's a good landing option/ mix-up, any tips on executing or button configuration?

What do you guys think is Luigi's biggest problem? Low Traction? Low Mobility? Poor Range?

I still think it's his mobility, but maybe I'm outdated/suck.

i think he would be better if he had better mobility and a faster, farther shooting fireball

Hard to imagine how dangerous he would be with the mobility to reach you anywhere you go as fast as he needs to.
