But Lucario/4th gen can show that the series is ever changing. All of the playable Pokemon being first gen sends a message that only the first games were good, and thats not true! Diamond and Pearl have sold extremely well, and it is generally agreed to be the best thing since the original GB games. It deserves to have a playable rep.

The Pokemon series icon was changed to be the same emblem used in Diamond/Pearl's touch screen during battles. That by itself would seem odd only used on 1st gen Pokemon. They went through the trouble of adding Pokeball 4th gens. Again why should Sakurai not have a character from the newer games? Should Micaiah and Midna and Lucas be excluded too because some might not know them? Pokemon sells more than all these series!
Thats is complete b/s. If pokemon has more reps than the other series, then that already shows that pokemon is still popular. You don't need a 4th gen pokemon as a PC to show that.

The fact is Sakurai has tons of pokemon from the 4th gen game. It's called a pokeball. DEAL WITH IT.

Your Hero, if your favored characters were confirmed, would you still care that Lucario was in Brawl?

I think that regardless of your own feelings, you should try to look at it objectively. Do you guys really think that Lucario has a low chance of making it, or is it just that you don't want him in?
Yes I would care for lucario being in brawl. It's not like my favourite character being in will make me blind.

It's just that I don't want him in, because I think he's not worth it. End of story. I know I'm being stubborn but I have to when it comes to debating.

Having the same number of selectable characters as, say, Starfox (Most want Fox, Krystal, Falco, AND wolf) does NOT say it's still popular. The lack of character list growth (replacing Pichu for PT) shows stagnation in the series.

I don't understand. If you have 4 reps for a game series, compared to all the other game series having 1 or 2 characters, wouldn't you see that it is still popular?

Before you answer this, can you rephrase your post because I don't know if I understood it properly.

first off. I don't see wolf, krystal, falco and ridley. Those are just characters people want in [or to return].

Second off Pokemon still has the most representation in brawl. It doesn't need more, just as kirby doesn't need more, nor does mario.

If you think that at NONE of that list is not coming, you're smoking. You're basically saying that, because they havn't been reveald yet, Jiggs and Mewtwo arn't coming either... which puts Pokemon back below Kirby in representation.

As for "needing" more... that sounds suspiciusly similar to a certian troll's refrain, that's still a running joke around here. They didn't "need" to add Dedede or Zamus.

I obviously know some or all of those are coming, I'm just saying there's no confirmatiomg for it, therefore you cant assume that they'll be in.

That's good to hear[/sarcasm]. Dedede and Zamus are more representation for series that barely had any in the representation in the previous SSBB games [that are very popular]

Dedede and Zamus' inclusion =/= lucario's inclusion.

I doubt him, if Gardevoir just couldn't it would be unfair to stick him playable.
Why? For one thing Gardevoir would probably be a mewtwo clone. Secondly Lucario is from the newest generation, starred in a movie, is quite popular, has a unique type both in pokemon and smash, was in the opening in the anime and in a series that has the same number o characters as it did in the last game most likely which means adding a new character wouldn't be to much most likely.

Yet you use Jiggs and Mewtwo for your argument, even though they are equally unconfirmed.
I never said mewtwo, and jigglypuff has plenty of prrof being confirmed, being the fact that someone spoiled her in an interview and she's actually said in the description when you pre-order the game.

Yet by saying pokemon has 4 selectable reps already, you are implying that they will both return.

And Krystal and Ridley also have significant evidence on their sides too.

That's perfectly fine then, post or pm me the proof and then I'll see if the evidence you show me proves anything or not. But right now, I don't see anything that confirms them in.

I was a rabid gardevoir supporter... I was so upset when she was deconfirmed... =(

Gardevoir WOULD not be a mewtwo clone. She could have been one of the most original character in smash bros, she had great moves and alot of potential unlike lucario who can only shoot a blast of blueness and punch people.

Gardevoir is from a more well known generation and she is more popular than Lucario. She was the ONLY pokemon on the poll, lucario wasn't. Gardevoir doesn't need the crutch of a movie for her to be popular. Psychic is a very diverse type and can draw from several things while... fighting and Steel aren't very special. Gardevoir was in the opening of the anime as well.

I hope i get to block the pokeball lucario's aura spheres with Gardevoir's shield casting.

Krystal's voice actor posted that she was working on brawl, doing Krystal, for several days before the post was mysteriously taken down. Every single game site has someone who went to the actual site and saw the post, and some people here have posted Emails that they have gotten from the VA in question.

Ridley's got a personal stage, personal music, and any complaints about his size or shape are answered by Bowser and Charizard respectively.

Not to mention, they both topped out Sakurai's poll, tied for second place behind Dedede.

This is the lucario thread, so any discussions you have of him go here.

Alright then, Krystal seems to be confirmed to me. Ridley.. not so much. The only things you have about him are music and stage (which Im guessing the music goes with the stage). That stages was meant for metroid in general, since I dont see any other metroid stages.

Weren't you the one arguing that Lucario and Mewtwo were to similar. Gardevoir is much more like Mewtwo then Lucario is.

Did you or did you not look over the moves that Lucario can learn. The aura sphere just happens to be his signature move.

Far more well known? I thought D/P sold better. Is she? I honestly don't know.

I'll give you that one. I haven't actually looked at the poll.

I didn't even watch the movie and I still like Lucario. A lot of people expected him to be legendary when they first saw him previewed.

I beg to differ.

Although I did like gardevoir (one of my best Pokemon in D/P) I still think Lucario would be a better choice. I do agree that Gardevoir could have an original moveset (probably based around protection and psychic powers, maybe useful as a "support" fighter i.e. similar to healers in RPGs), but it would have to wait for the 90-character Super Smash Bros. BattleFest, releasing in 2015.

The only reason D/P sold more was because it was for the ds. You have to admit that.
Depends. If gold/Silver sold more than Ruby/Saphire then I will agree with you. Otherwise I would just say that R/S sold more than G/S becasue it was on the GBA instead of the GB.Plus the DS is the first really functionally different handheld from nintendo. The addition of touch screen and the large battle changes are the biggest pokemon had yet gone through.

I was talking design wise. Lucario is more similar to mewtwo design wise than gardevoir is.

No i'm not a pokenewb like people think i am because i don't like lucario. Lucario can't do crap except punch people and the blue sphere. cause... all his other moves would look odd on him. Like i've said before, he can learn water pulse and bone rush but he's not going to use it. Just like jigglypuff can learn ice beam and flamethrower and she isn't using it in melee.

Far more well known? I thought D/P sold better. Is she? I honestly don't know.
Yeah... Japanese people love to put her in... 'stuff'

I'll give you that one. I haven't actually looked at the poll.
Go me!

That doesn't really help his case... Speculation is speculation. everyone thought he was mewthree when they revealed his black out.

I beg to differ.
Differ then... Nearly all of fighting moves are just punches and kicks, Steel moves are 'arrgh! i hit u wit mah metal hand' >_>;

Cool.

Whatever.
Go me again

Looking over the debate, I have to agree with Your Hero for the most part.
SF-Kriby-Samus having 3 characters each in no way makes it needed for pokemon to have more than the 6 playable pokemon they have now (Jpuff was leeked and mew2 is coming back. . . just like Ganon is too).

Mario shouldn't have 7-8 characters "just because". Once the most important roles are fulled with the best reps from the series there isn't a real need to pull out random, unimportant characters.

I personally see Mario getting 6 characters (because of the 6 playable pokemon). Doc gets the boot and Toad/ Bowser Jr become characters. LoZ, imo, will get 5-6. Y Link and Sheik get the boot well Midna and some transformation (from either Zelda/ Midna or Ganon) is added.

Either way, theres a crap load of things one must over look to see Lucario as that only choice even if theres more than the 6 Playable pokemon we have now. I really don't think Sakurai and friends care enuff about playable pokemon characters to cram more than 6 playable pokemon into brawl but we will see.

Yeah, we will. I am straight set on my theory: that Gamefreak suggested Lucario as playable while Sakurai was reviewing the 4th gen Pokemon to put as cameos. Even if Lucario doesnt make the cut, I know Sakurai will have considered it at one point or another. If he does turn out to be playable, many people will be shocked I know, but that will be the most definite possibility. Lucario and other 4th gens didnt appear on the polls because they were generally unknown at the time, so it will be Gamefreak who will be the reason behind Lucario's inclusion...

Do we all at least agree that Lucario is in Brawl in some shape or form regardless? Playable or Pokeball, theres no way that he isnt in somehow, right?

To tell you the truth, none of us care if he's in brawl. We just don't want him playable. I'd much rather he was the best pokemon in the pokeball than have him as a PC.

Bull, We have 4 with mewtwo. Mario had 5 last game and Pokemon series not expanding is next to no chance. Pokemon will have 5 roster spots Mewtwo, Jigglypuff, Pokemon Trainer, Pikachu and Luario.

Pokemon Roster is one charachter. If Sakuria meant for us to believe it to be 3 sepearate parts like Samus/ZSS we would have got 3 updates one on Squirtle, Ivysaur and Charizard

you have no information that says that will be the roster. Don't claim it as fact. Pokemon Trainer is three separate characters. They all have the same amount of things as any other character except a down b they took just as much time and effort as every other character, just cause they share one spot doesn't mean its one character.

Still, Mime Jr. would be an awesome fifth character selection! Right, right? Ah whatever! >_>;

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with Megadio *shudders*...while some of us want Lucario in, we don't know it for a fact, Frogla...we can hope, but until Sakurai says something, we can't jump to conclusions...

That said, I fully support Lucario as a PC, but I'm not holding my breath...I am prepared for the worst (or the best for Megadio and Your Hero)

EDIT: I must have been exposed to some kind of bizarre gas...cuz I'm thinking Mime Jr. would be awesome...just not as likely as Lucario...

If people on these forums believe that Samus and Zero-Suit samus are considered two different characters, if people on these forums believe that Zelda and Sheik are considered two different characters, then why the hell can't they believe that Pokemon Trainer is considered three different characters?

I would love to see Lucario in despite the huge number of Pokemon already in the game. Lucario is perfect for Brawl and presents a different style from Pikachu and Jigglypuff.

For me it is the fact that Z/samus got seperate updates. Plus zelda was released without shiek which means that Sheik will most likely be a seperate update. Plus Z/Samus have different Final smashes while the pokemon do theirs together.

*Goes to the Dojo
*Sees POKEMON TRAINER as a character

"Hey, I though Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard were doing the fighting, where are they as characters?"

*Thinks for a second

"Oh, that's right, the Pokemon are just fighting, but Pokemon Trainer is the real character, I mean, if it weren't so then there would be three different characters for Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard. I see now, PT is one character."

Seriously though, you are supposed to think of the 'Pokemon change' as just another type of ability characters posses, like Tether Recovery, and Wall Jumping, and Gliding. Not everyone can do all three (though Ivysaur can Tether Recover and Charizard can Glide). The whole stamina aspect proves my point even more; Sakurai doesn't want you to stick with one Pokemon troughout the entire match, he wasnts you to change them, that is what I think this character is all about. If they were to be three seperate entities, then why would all three of them be listed under one character slot? And why is there Stamina? And how come Zero Suit Samus has her own character slot? Answer me these three questions, and I will forever count the Pokemon Trainer as three seperate characters, but you, or anyone aside from Sakurai answering them, is quite unlikely.

But this isn't a Pokemon Trainer discussion, it's a Lucario one, so let me go back on topic.

And by the way, Your Hero, I recall posting on this thread at least three times. My memory might be fuzzy, but that doesn't give you the right to assume that I just got here.

Lucario/another Pokemon representative may make it; most likely though, will not. If we keep all the Pokemon from the last game, and replace Pichu with Pokemon Trainer, we'd have the same amount of Pokemon Representatives we had in Melee. I'm pretty sure both Mario, and Zelda will follow this trend as well. Though if a new representation were to get in, it would seem quite odd for it to be from the first generation again. Maybe Sakurai will look for a pretty popular Pokemon right now, and believe it or not, Lucario fits the bill perfectly.

I could care less if he makes it in, though I do have a preferance for him. That's it. That's all I'll say.

first off.. gliding, tether recovery, wall jump =/= bv

Pt doesn't do the fighting, that's true, but his pokemon do. The pokemon basically represent PT. If they were meant to be considered one character, then they would be fighting together. They take one slot because like I just said, they represent PT. It's pointless to give them their own plus to have PT which doesn't have a moveset.

Stamina? give me a break.. Stamina is there so that the player rotates pokemon so that they roate between the pokemon to play as a little of each so that they don;t abuse one of the pokemon throughout the battle. But no where on the site does it actually state "The pokemon will be automatically changed after a given time limit". That means that you are still allowed to play as the pokemon for the whole match if you'd like, it's just that you will be slower.

Zero-Suit Samus, to tell you the truth, shouldn't even have a new character slot on the homepage, unless if you can start off as her in the beginning of the match [which isn't confirmed yet]. Either way though, it's a different scenario as PT, since you don't see Samus with no moveset, controlling Zero-Suit samus from the background.

If you don't want me to say stuff like that, then read my posts, if not then I'll automatically assume you just came in and started to debate against me. I'm sorry if you were here before I said that post.

I'm not hoping for anymore pokemon representation, period. There's over-enough as usualy. pokemon does not need anymore representation. Yet again i;ve said that countless times in past posts.

I will try to answer these things as logically as I can "being a out-sider to the mind of Sakurai and friends".

Stamina is clearly there to stop the whole Sheik thing. Zelda was MADE to work like this. . . as in, he wanted you to change the characters in fights but because she wasn't limated Sheik just became the lead with Zelda as a useless waste of a Bv to Sheik mains. Besides, it was never stated that anything big happens if you stay as one or change too often. . . we have no idea what stamina is so you can be Char all you want as long as you can deal with w/e happens as a result.

Why would all 3 be under one character slot? In the game or in Dojo (cause Zero aint in her own slot in the game)? On either it's logicaly because they are, unlike Zero, all playable simply by picking that slot without any item to un-suit them (Plus, theres no PT without all 3 of them. . .what COULD you update if your not updating all 3?).

Zero was made to be a result of a final smash. . . you don't NEED Zero to play normaly as Samus nor do you ever have to be her in normal play. PT is a team. . . you pick PT you can be any of them at anytime in normal play. In fact, theres no PT update to update without the 3 pokemon because none of them are the "main pokemon" and all share = roles in the slot.

I hope these answers where good enuff for you.

And really, Sakurai calls it a 3 in 1 character himself. Plus, at the end of the day what would Pika/ Jpuff/ Mew2 and Red add up too in numbers of playable pokemon? 6. . . thats more than melee and more than most series could ever hope to get. I REALLY don't think the devs simply care about slots and what we all conceder "reps" like these this. . .or atleast not to the point to add 3 pokemon together as one slot (all being fully playable save the Bv) and than turn around to get started on a reg pokemon character because this one is only "one slot".

I noticed that Black/Light was a lucario supporter at the beginning of the thread. What happened?

But even if you want to treat them as 3 characters, did you consider the Zelda series in the last game? I'm sure you'd consider them as 5, with sheik and all. That is proof that your 7 is not unreasonable for the next installment in the series (which could have up to 40-some characters)...

I will admit that a few characters deserve it before him though. Like imo Isaac does, but still...Lucario looks like he belongs in smashbros.
