redson you dont know what you're takling about lol.
the first american games on the gnc suked. as did ngnt 1 and 2 in japan. the first american wii one was like a super dumbed down version of gnt 4 because it only had like 12 chars. this new one has 35ish and looks to be really promising. it seems to be a bit more balanced and the gravity is slightly lighter from 4. but i dont have itachi yet so i cant tell if they fixed him.

itachi for ban if not. seriously, it's gay.
It's not really itachi himself that's the problem, it's the fact that the game engine allows backturned unblockables. Itachi just happens to be the one that gets BY FAR the most mileage out of them. Everything else he has is good, but managable (even the 0-death - it's really not hard to avoid that counter). And OTK naruto and temari are both better than him anyways, from what I understand (though I haven't really kept up with the scene in a couple years, so I could be wrong).

Since it's a game engine thing though I doubt they changed it. And if they did it would make kank suck the ****, so I kinda hope they didn't.

And yeah, all the US versions so far have been terrible. Only thing I was looking forward to with them was the chance for free money if game stores ran tournaments for them. Oro is soooo busted in the first few games.

*EDIT* As an aside, I just watched some videos of drephen's marth, and it's one of the more amusing things I've seen in melee. All dis ***** do is fsmash.

Dancing blade isn't all too great for spacing, it's far better out of shield. F-Tilt is good for spacing, and has good priority.

Redson, way to be forever behind the fighting scene. No one plays competitive JUS anymore. Probably the best hand held fighter ever, but still very lackluster.

The majority of times that he fsmashed were out of shield after the fox either side or up b'd. It would have been better to use dancing blade. The ftilts wouldnt even hit anyways.

Hey taylor, how do you and the other people at your crib feel about me coming over friday before the tournament and crashing the night/playing tons of melee before LasT?

Also, on a semi-related note, I was talking to randall and a few other people about possibly getting an mtg draft or 2 going before/after one of these tournaments out of my cube (basically a box of 720 cards that you make 15 card "packs" from to draft that are pulled from the best cards in magic). Would there be enough people interested that I should bring it along? All you really need is to know how to play magic, with some experience in drafting being good but not totally neccessary. 4 is the hard minimum to have a functional draft, with 6 or more really being preferable. And since the cards are mine and will be returned to me when we're done it'll be free, unlike most drafting.

Anyone interested?

as of now im aiming for fl and ms (manko, drumma, boom, ram, rice, ihbs, chad, iori) to stay with me. im not sure when they are coming, but friday would be the more reasonable time. i was talking to drumma today and he said only ihbs chad and iori were riding together. are nes noob and shai coming to this? i work friday night so i wont be back until like midnight but thats just the way it is. all the oosers are welcome to stay friday night, but ill have to see about n.o.
i know yall want to play them and stuff but thats already 10 people, not including tx who im trying to have arranged to stay with nick.

(btw nick is that ok?)

and i'd like to get atleast a little rest before the tourney. with the additional ppl from n.o. i think it might be a little too much but i'll let you know.

i'd do a mtg draft, but not the day of the tourney. if u want to come one weekend and play it'd be cool. me and sudai know how to play and have oldschool nub decks. im sure some other people would draft too.

I was more thinking afterwards for the draft, really.

And I promise I don't take up much space. Totally down with just claiming some random part of the floor. But if you don't have room that's cool and I understand. I just wanna chill with my fl peeps.

yeah i mean you said before or after, but what i really meant was i want to get in max amounts of melee with fl and ms so i didnt really want to take up any time around the tourney at all.

i understand that you dont mind sleeping on the floor and that you want to see your friends, but think about the situation really. 10 oos ppl + the 4 ppl that live here. the living room can fit 5-6 ppl and thats very uncomfortably with 2 guys sleeping in 1 bed. someone could sleep in the hall down stairs and the floor in my room (+me). 8-9 ppl. the floor in kens room + ken. 10-11. eric in his bed (there is virtually no floor space in erics room). 11-12. vaughns floor and vaughn in his bed. 13-14. 14 people is absolute max compacity including all of floor space. as it stands now, we cant hold any more people; but, if anyone cancels or you can stay at nicks house when you go to sleep i dont mind.

and it suks because my bed is down stairs and with 14 people in a house making a **** ton of noise it's going to be a bytch for me to get to sleep anyway. i want to be rested because i actually plan on winning, believe it or not.

but more importantly::

wtf ken is hilarious. he voted off charlie for virtually no reason. he was just a *** who wanted to share with everyone (in this case info on the immunity idol), but wasn't a real threat to anyone. agreed it was annoying to see him and that hoe talking so much crap in sugar's ear but still, i think that was just a interesting personal grudge to actually carry out. seems like randy was a much better choice, but then again randy makes the show pretty humorous.

I have a head count of 40ish so far. That's not counting the random people who might just show up.

Okay, but we're still getting a setup, which is the important part.

It looks like Texas still needs housing: Beaumont and Revised. I'll talk to Nick about that today if I see him. If not, definitely sometime tomorrow. That's assuming he doesn't see this stuff first.

We could still use more TVs!! Power strips, too. So, yeah. Who else has stuff?

i should be coming for the brawl tournament (do that one first)
i think someone is going to take my work shift the 22nd, but i'll have to leave right afterward cuz of work the next morning.
also..last night i smoked some purple train wreck, wow too good...awesome time, slept like a baby lost in space, woke up went to class..and i'm still feeling it.
i lost the game.

and anyone reading that lost it as well if its 10:30 or later. (look on the bright side- at least you won the negative-game)

Taylor and Randall, Beaumont with me is perfectly fine. As a matter of fact, I already got in touch with Beaumont and things are cool there already. Granted, I have to be at work for 9 in the morning on Saturday which means they'll have to leave with me, but like Taylor said, "that's the way it is." They've got 5 people coming and that's about what I can fit in my living room. Unfortunately, my room is ridiculously messy and with my schedule this week I doubt I'll have the time to actually clean it, so 5 is gonna be the max I can house. Sorry guys.

That's cool taylor.

Anyone else over there able to put me up for the night? Randall maybe? I'd prefer to be somewhere where melee will be played, but if not it's no biggie.

Since you're just one person, there's a chance I might be able to house you. I still live at home, so I'd have to clear it with my parents. It might happen, but I'd keep looking if I were you, cause I doubt it.

I didn't read the first post, so I'll ask questions, because I know how much y'all love answering them. Will there be a Melee and Brawl tourny, or just one? And when did the price jump from $5 to $10? Don't y'all know the economy's in a crisis right now? Hell, even gas prices dropped, but Melee prices continue to rise (I think I saw that on WBRZ last night). Anyway, I might go. I guess I'll have to sell some more blood to get the money for this. Should be fun, right? I was gonna skip it since I'll just get my *** whipped (I haven't played either game seriously in a while), but then I remembered even when I did play I'd get *****, so what's the difference.

Honestly man, I got to LA and was like "man, tournaments are waaaaay cheaper here than pretty much everywhere else." $10 is lower than what I'm used to - generally everything I've been to has been more like $15 for singles and $20-30 per team for doubles.

And yeah, come and hang. I've lost count long ago of how many tournaments I've been to and I'm pretty sure I had 0 realistic chance of winning any of them (comes from being in FL - shiz, speedn, colbol and etc at your local tournaments sets the bar pretty high).

yeah i was sand bagging at first, then i was trying to play like RoyR. all he does is f-air fast fall, have not perfected it yet (to say the least).

brandon... cough, cough shh shhh stfu
RoyR is good, but I dont think trying to play with only fast falled fairs is the best strategy.

It's actually not all he does, ifyou use your eyes. and you r mind
thanks popertop i shall use my r mind -_-

Yeah he does a lot of up air juggling and back air edge guarding, but it seems like his most basic approach is fair fast fall it’s so hard to punish the way he does it.

Yeah, Iceman, Brawl and Melee. Crazy, right?

There's only gonna be Singles unless we have more time. More information can be found in the LasT 2 thread.
