I'm not saying I didn't see Pac-Man coming. We all/most did once we heard Namco was making it. I was hoping against it but knew it would more than likely happen.

I still plan on playing both ways for now until we find out it's just a crappy game and no real hope with it. Then it'll still be my party game of choice more than likely... Blue shells and cuccos are wonderful. I'll party with you guys with all items and stages. With my Mike's Hard Pink Lemonade. It's not girly, it's supporting breast cancer research, shut up. Don't judge me.

Idk why but this made me chuckle way too hard.

Do you guys not like smash 4 because its not similar to project m or melee?
No. I may only be speaking for myself here, but there was a game called Melee that had movement options out the ass, speed, and creative combo opportunities. The creator of the game has come out and said (on numerous occasions) that it was intended to be a party game and took out a lot of the movement options and speed in the subsequent game and replaced it with more defensive options. I haven't played the fourth game yet, but it seems as though (from watching plenty of vids) he added and subtracted a few things from the previous game to further cater to the masses. That's why I'm wary of this game. As plenty of people said before, I have no problem with playing it as the game is intended, as a party game.
Edit: That's the short version.

The only problem I see with Smash 4 is following up, everything else I found to be okay and fun.
Then again, this is a demo, so I'm really expecting much from it but to see what certain characters moves are.
And so far, Rosalina has won me over for the time being.

I would definitely like to have more movement options. What we have right now is even less than what we had before. That and the unnecessary buffs and nerfs catering to casuals is what's upsetting me.

There's still about 2.5 months of development before the project hits Beta, so things can change. Nintendo can take some suggestions, but at the end of the day they still have to take it up with the dev team and (ultimately) Sakurai. It'll all depend on what he wants and that's what most of us are afraid of.

Played Sonic, I like the feel of him. He feels the same as Brawl, although some of his moves have ending lag on them. His dash attack also has different properties.

Thanks to everybody who helped with the stream today and thanks to everybody who tuned in.

Thanks to Ryck and Jnig and the others who helped run Golden Charriot and thanks to everyone who took time away to compensate today.

Sorry to anybody in twitch chat who was ignored by us - our setup limited what we could do with my laptop and we didn't have another laptop to talk to viewers.

Aside from what I'm already aware of (****ty mics, poor layout), does anybody have critique or suggestions for the stream or the layout? It's still a learning process for me.

VoD SHOULD be on twitch, and whether or not it's there, I'll have matches uploaded to my YouTube channel (SSB Bestrin) within the week.

Also, unlike I mentioned before, I probably won't be at Summercon. I'm exhausted from today and never knew how close the two events were.

I see people complaining about the venue fee on facebook. Might want to see if you can lower it to $5. Though, there might be a greater push to make it free if enough people deem the quality of the tournament unworthy of a $5 fee.

Here to answer any questions from the event. Coming from running majors I have a few ideas that will help streamline the entire process.
1) Online preregistration: We need to have everyone sign up ahead of time online, trying to create the brackets on the fly was very annoying.
2) Dedicated casuals area: We need to try and leave 1/2 setups for casuals so people dont try and squeeze in games between tournament sets. I needed to see empty setups to call the next games and causals make me believe that a tournament match is going on.
3) The wii issue: We need to have an incentive to bring set ups if we want to host PM and brawl at the same tournament. Its annoying only being able to run one of these games and then waiting to start the next.
4) TO/Bracket runners: We need dedicated guys to do this job. I decided to do it yesterday because I had experience, but ideally I would like to have at least 2 guys working each game.
5) Venue fees: These are a necessity, its just how it is. This is a new venue and they are running it for a full day just for us. If they do not get paid there is no incentive. If we took out venue fees then the money would most likely be taken from the pots themselves. I agree that we might get it lowered, but we need a better negotiator to work directly with the venue.

The stream:
1) Commentator camera not necessary for gameplay during sets, the focus should be on the game, not us.
2) Less clutter: I do agree that the layout was a bit over the top, we need to streamline
3) Names/Scores: The capcom stream had an amazing application that updated names and scores, we need to get that from them. I think the guy running it was named jared.

If yall have any other critiques or questions please post them!

I agree with the camera situation. It's better to be able to see 2 players than 1.5 players and 1.5 commentators. I actually had no problem with the layout, some say cluttered, I say epic.
Deansomething, some of those are good ideas, some of it is wishful thinking. We're in LA in a fairly small and fairly lazy (yes I'm overgeneralizing) scene. And venue fees are, of course, venue dependent. Some places have no fees.

I think they layout looked good aside from having casters on there. (Watched it for like 5s total woop woop).

There was no point and that camera would be better used so that we could have a (semi) close up of each player playing on each side.

I feel like there should be 2 player cams for the opposite sides. Commentator cam should be used mostly for down time when no matches are being played.

Venue fees will be venue fees. They vary depending on the place, so that shouldn't be that big of an issue. I don't know why people continue to complain about them, personally. The only venue fee I was bothered by was Smashcon's mostly due to past tourneys that we've had at that same venue.

Stream layout was fine, though I feel that the audio issues need immediate attention.

The reason we had a commentator cam is because we were unable to get a second USB extender for my other playercam. I didn't have time to change the layout so I felt like I needed to put something in that spot.

Thanks for the feedback. I need to find a more efficient way to change score and names - it was especially difficult since it was a hassle to get a busy TO or player to come tell me who was playing next.

Thanks guys!

For everyone asking about a second player cam: We only had 1 webcam that could work. We had the laptops built in cam on the commentators. Because we had our second player cam fry on us we decided the commentator cam was better then nothing at all.

The audio issues will require some testing, we were using a pretty ghetto workaround to get the 2 mics, I think using VAC and stabilizing usb power will work wonders for us.

EDIT: just saw that bestrin answered this before me!

Responses to the following:
1) Totally agree hands down for something like Smashcon - however not my call, sadly.
2) Also agree too, but at the same time, with so few bringing set-ups as it is a limited space, any one of those two which are available should go towards tournament matches.
3) Incentive to bring set-ups: You want a smoothly run tournament or not? Help the TO help your by having set-ups available. Do you part as a community member and tournament participant by contributing set-ups. I highly disagree with giving people other incentive than that.
4) It's nearly impossible to find someone in our community that will be disciplined enough not to enter their own event. I can only speak for myself because I've never been to an event run by a TO who doesn't enter their own tournament, unless it was my own. Same goes for having a volunteer to be a secondhand man. There's a huge issue with community volunteerism and intiative. All talk, no show.
5) Totally agree with your statement. Some people are just free loaders and want to find away to complain enough to have things their way, especially if something is not 100% perfect.

The community has also demanded transparency so did that $10 really go towards venue and nothing else?

I also want to add that seeing that the only major complaints were the stream and the $10 venue fee, you must be doing alright all things considering, so keep it up.

A lot of this answer has a ton of negativity, which is not really needed. We want this to grow, and saying "these people wont step up" only breeds animosity towards TO's.

^ Negativity? You must be new to the Salty South Scene, huh bruh?
Can we all just enter SmashCon with salty version of our names? Saltsora? JSalt? SaltZ? Saltman? Etc.

Livin' dat salty life, dawg. The entire state of Louisiana is practically a Salty Suite.

Edit: Also seeing as how I usually enter tournaments as V these days, I guess I would have to go with my full name and enter as SaltForExtreme. (Though I won't be entering anything at Smashcon because I need to save money. Going to C.E.O. the next weekend.)
