Just had a smashcon staff meeting today. Among all the spitballing, we have some things we did manage to confirm.
1) Summercon is going to be June 29th and 30th (Saturday-Sunday), so mark your calendars and plan accordingly.
2) We have some new things to offer like card tournaments and I think tabletop had been mentioned.
3) Erick is going to sort everything we said we wanted to host and from what I saw, we will be looking at having Smash hosted on Saturday with some minor side events, then have fighters and cards on Sunday with some minor side events. Because I'm expecting a huge turnout for Summercon, ideally I'd like to see Smash doubles and Smash pools occur Saturday and the bracket Sunday. Until Erick posts the official schedule, nothing is official yet.
4) As far as the State circuit goes, we are looking to make two events consistently occur each month and then the last one or two events occur every other month. Right now I know that Get Hype will remain consistent. I think Slidell was the other one, I don't remember. I'll let Erick make a more official statement on that later. Anything to take away from this is we will have about 3, no more than 4 events each month opposed to the five I believe we have running now.

Don't forget guys. We got the next Slidell Monthly this Saturday and the next Get Hype the Saturday after that. Just remember that Ohana Pier is not going to be the venue this weekend. It will be held at Level Up (I think that's the place's name). The address and other details are in the tournament thread. Which also reminds me... I need to make the Get Hype thread. I'll do it tomorrow while I'll be busy doing stuff anyway. I hope to see you guys there, especially you Melee players.

I know it's a random event in TN but I don't think anyone here has ever ventured there before. If they ever become more consistent, I might consider traveling there just for the hell of it.

Sounds quite fun/interesting but GOD that's ****ing far. 20h roundtrip, ~250$ in gas. Ouch.
We should try to plan a carpool for this eventually. I don't think any of us have been to TN before and it would be something cool to do at least once. Maybe we can make some connections with the people there and encourage them to attend our events sometime as well. Just an idea to throw on the backburner for now.

It's in Lawrence, KS (just outside of KC). No plans have been made yet, but I'm assuming we'll be staying in DeLux's house, and I plan on meeting up and merging with a carpool from AL in Jackson, MS.
Drive up Friday, stay the night at the DeLux hotel, smash on Saturday, stay a second night, then come back Sunday.
Going through Jackson instead of straight to KC adds 45 minutes and 65 miles to the 12:40 hour drive. Total drive would be 775 miles. 175 with me, then 600 as a combined carpool. Then the same thing on the way back.
The number of people and the vehicle is unknown, so numbers for gas money is also variable.
That's all I know so far, so who's interested? Don't be a *****, I did this on a school weekend, and got back to Montgomery, AL on Monday at 3:30am, then had a 2.5 hour drive back to Tuscaloosa because school. You have no legitimate excuse unless it is money.
In the event enough people are interested, we'll make it our own carpool instead of teaming with the few from AL.

Melee had 2 car pools back in the day go to inn 5 in TN. It's where me and Eric randomly got 8th in teams lol. Forward beat dark rain in gfs and the falco naired through a bunch of pizza boxes. Me and lee slept outside on the concrete. Lol

First of Sorry for not posting in this thread and Thanks for showing interest in coming to TN. Normally Mid south is pretty much all I get for the monthlies.
I have been holding monthlies off and on in Middle Tennessee for about 5 or so Years. So its not really a random event. I hosted the House of Smash Series (Brawl+ and Melee) and the Battle at the Game Galaxy series (Brawl and Melee). We normally just get Mid south to come out and hang out and play smash. People like Reflex, PikaChad, Joot, Moogle, Kismet, Player-1, and quite a few others.
I would be willing to house up to 6-8 People at a decent comfort level, though most of this would be floor space.
That being said most of Middle Tennessee plays Project M, myself being a backroom member. Though I am hosting Brawl and Melee as well in hopes that it bring plenty of people out of the wood works. You host anything with PM and eventually we will travel to it.
