You would think that they would mention a new Wario Land at e3, but who knows. If there is a direct I would assume it would mostly focus on new info for things like Luigi’s Mansion and Super Mario Party, as well as Warioware Gold and maybe that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe stuff they mentioned.

Those games may have had stuff not make it into the e3 presentation in order to maximize room for smash bros. Speaking of which literally all those games are related to Wario or Mario in someway. So it would be a Golden opportunity for Ashley.
Yeah, i suppose they shied away from other games, because they knew those other games would get completely overshadowed and possibly forgotten because of Smash stealing the show.

When I read this I instantly assumed that it meant a reveal for an upcoming reveal, which might just be the most powerful edging.
lol, oops, i have no idea what i thought i was typing when writing that.
edit: apologies for double post, if a moderator see's this.
double edit: oh wow that's so cool, how my post's fused into one.

This was the teasing tweet in question: https://twitter.com/Newmarkomaro/status/1014490837256953856

So I'm pretty positive that it's a nudge nudge towards the rumored Wario Land VB remake that was leaked at the same time as Warioware Gold was.

There are a few people who stream using a Dance Dance Revolution dance pad to play normal games (they use it as a D-pad.)
I like how you had to edit in that it was a joke haha.
That...sounds painful, haha. But I'm sure it's entertaining to watch.

And I decided to add that so everyone knew I was just being a sarcastic goofball, and not just a turd. The Internet isn't good at translating that sort of thing, after all, so better safe than sorry.

Smash is going to be playable at San Diego Comic Con along with a few other switch games. It is a pretty big event so an announcement is possible. But I doubt is since it is not really a video game event and Nintendo doesn’t typically announce stuff at these types if things.

Also the games will be playable at a different building right outside the event, not directly inside of it.

So a japanese website made a poll about characters people want in Smash, Ashley is in 7th position! They talk only about the five first characters, Ashley is in the red box in the second page.
https://www.inside-games.jp/article/2018/07/15/116161.html

The top ten is:
1 - Rex & Pyra
2 - Bandana Dee
3 - Spring Man (ARMS)
4 - King K Rool
5 - Sora (KH)
6 - 2B (NieR)
7 - Ashley (Wario Ware)
8 - Sans (Undertale)
9 - Crash Bandicoot
10 - Karate Joe (Rythm Tengoku)

Probably nothing will be revealed, but I'm going to get excited for an announcement anyway

Lol Sans. I'm glad to see all three of my most wanted are up there (Ashley, Rhythm heaven, bandana Dee)! It's also worth noting a lot of these are impossible (spring man) or unlikely (third party).

I'm not sure if the honorable mentions are in any particular order. Even if it was, Ashley is listed 8th behind Sans in that red box. If it says it is in order, then I would love to be wrong.

If you take out Rex, Pyra and Springman who were too late to be added to the roster (But will most definitely be dlc). And take out Sans (no. just no.).
That bumps Ashley up to fifth place! Top 5 baby!

Well since 2B really has no chance and Rex and Pyra as well as Springman are from games that were still in development the roster was planned they aren’t happening.

Sans and Sora are both highly unlikely due to being a Disney character and an indie character. Sora is possible, but there are other indie characters who would fit much better than Sans.

The most realistic ones here are Ashley, King K Rool, Bandanna Dee and Karate Joe.

Also Crash is most likely out of the third party’s here I think.

On Comic Con, Smash 4 was there in 2014 and nothing was revealed. We'll just be getting more footage from the same E3 build.

After seeing Sans' placement on the Japanese poll, I'm wondering if he's just genuinely wanted or meme status like he is over here. I'm assuming people just want him, as Undertale is massive, but have our Sans memes spread over there?

This was actually shared by a user on a french website (jeuxvideo.com) , who himself found out thanks to this tweet https://twitter.com/Shueisha64/status/1019236839004176384

To be honest, we need to be cautious with every poll, as we never know how many people vote, as well as who. But if we strictly take Nintendo characters (and remove Spring-Man as ARMS is seemingly too young for Smash) then Rex & Pyra, Bandana Dee, K.Rool, Ashley and Karate Joe definitely are characters plausible and logical. Although Rex may be young too, but at least, the Xenoblade serie already is 8 years old, it's not the same case.

I don't know if I could handle 2b in Smash...:nervous:
same here, I would main her but if theres one robot/android I want in smash is zero

Has 2B ever even appeared on a Nintendo console?

If not, she has a zero percent chance. (Though even if she did, she'd still have an abysmal chance.)
I mean, cloud was never on a Nintendo console from what I heard?

Had some DS appearances, actually. But it's not an actual hard rule anyway. They don't need to appear on a Nintendo system to be eligible for Smash at all. But it can certainly help their chances.

On the topic of 2B, while I think it's impossible for the base game, I can imagine dlc would be her best shot, and hey this article makes me hopeful.
https://sourcegaming.info/2017/03/15/thinking-outside-the-box-sakurais-famitsu-column-vol-526/
Honestly I cant even imagine her in the game, but I suppose almost anyone is possible at this point. And the dlc would allow characters such as her and other 3rd parties as well as already deconfirmed characters a chance.

I don't doubt it, let's just hope this next one uses our results this time.
If they release the ballot right when the game comes out they could gather data for like 3 months than decide on a character. I think Sakurai stated that It takes like 9 months to fully develop, test, and balance a brand new character. So they could probably get it out around the end of 2019.

Do you all think Ashley being a girl gives her an edge when it comes to consideration? I hope it does. Not just because I want her in, but because there really isn't that many female characters in the game, and that can be pretty important to some people. I know this is anecdotal, but my little sister only really picks the female characters or cute characters like Kirby and Ice Climbers. It would be nice to finally have a character that we both main, that is if she ends up liking Ashley.

Having more female characters would be great, but I don't think anyone has an edge because their a woman.
Every character gets in on their own merits and if they're a girl that's a bonus.
Though with female Pikachu and female Pokemon Trainer, Ultimate isn't shying away from the idea of more girl characters.

I would think that it is definently something that the developers would be aware of, but I doubt that it’s a major deciding factor. The most important things would probably be stuff like move set potential, the series they represent, and if Sakurai wants them.

Things such as being a female or a villain could potentially give characters a slight edge , but I don’t see it having much impact on the actual decision. It’s more of a bonus.

As said, I think Sakurai is aware of it (look at Zelda's reveal in Smash 4, Sakurai wrote on Miiverse that "It's great to see so many female characters this time around. ") but I don't think it's that much a deciding factor. So far, female characters are in thanks to their own merits, and that's better than "being their for being a female".
In Smash 4, there also was opportunities to add secondary characters, and that led to having more females. Excluding "alternate gender characters", Palutena, Rosalina and Lucina all are in this categories. Only Bayonetta (and Samus of course) are "main playable female character" in their games.

Now we can hope that Ashley have a unique "role", something Sakurai talked about in Brawl. This isn't really about gameplay but more about appearance and characteristics. Snake for example is the "heavy weapon specialist". It's true but doesn't talk about him being a set-up characters with grenades and mines.

So yeah. Being female or a villain (or both, for Medusa :)) can give a slight boost, but that's it. Hopefully, Ashley looks nothing like the other fighters, even the other magic users. Even the other witch! THIS can give an actual edge. Of course, role through gameplay, like debuffing as we say, can give an edge too.

hoesntly if you compare the number of females of melee of brawl to the newer smash games, it increased greatly, though having more females is not bad at all.

I'm both very surprised and very happy that Karate Joe is apparently popular over there, since you never really see anyone ever talking about him over here. Gives me some hope my #1 will make it in.

So the message I'm getting is that in practice, being a girl probably only plays a role for tiebreakers. Two characters have equal merit, but one's a girl so let's go with them. I can accept that.

Also, Ashley is pretty much known as the status mage in Smash canon. Hopefully that gives her the edge since it's an unused archetype for the game and this inforgraph says it's a top priority for characters to bring something new. Everything in that "Standard for selecting characters" box applies well in Ashley's favor too. She's from an underrepresentated series and she certainly shows a lot of personality.

I think it helped in Smash 4 more than Ultimate. Now we do have a nice selection of females, so I think that the merits of the character itself will weight even more than "being female" this time.

Yeah, her Assist Trophy is actually a great way to let her bring something new as a fighter.

It doesn't really seem to factor much into Sakurai's decisions, in my opinion. Looking at every newcomer in Brawl and 4, only five have been definitively women, one of which was a character who was basically already in the game, with only three more if you count alts (and one more if you count Mii Gunner I guess).
That sounds like a lot, but consider that both games had twenty-four definitively male newcomers in total (and two more if you count Mii Brawler and Mii Swordfighter). If Sakurai seriously thought about the gender ratio when planning rosters, I don't think it'd be this uneven.

EDIT: Realized I messed up my count a bit and missed Wendy. So the counts are more like five definitively female characters with four more added if you count alts, and twenty-three definitively male characters.

Let us all pay our respects to Luigi for first introducing the concept in his first Final Smash, then passing the torch to Ashley to make her inclusion a possibility one day.

Sorry I'm late, but I support Ashley. She's cute, WarioWare could use another rep, Smash is in need of more magic users, and I'd like to see Bayonetta become friends with another witch aside from Jeanne.
