Speaking of next weekend ... how serious are we about going to Zenith? I know cmart is all for it, and I'd like to go as well. We really should hammer out the details ASAP since we probably need to get housing.

So apparently Super had an extremely limited, theatre release and has already moved onto Video On Demand. I can't say that bodes well for my expectations, but it did get great reviews so I'm still interested in seeing it (just not sure how to go about it).

On Zenith - You perfectly summed up my feelings JCz.

Maybe it'll be a reverse Scott Pilgrim: while SP gets bad reviews but ends up being a great movie, Super gets great reviews but might end up really bad.

...But I don't think so. SHUT UP CRIIIIIIIIME!

As for Zenith...hell it won't matter, the world will end in 45 minutes from now anyway.

You guys got it backwards. Super has a 47% on RT and Scott Pilgrim has an 81%. I think the good movie with bad reviews you're thinking of is Sucker Punch.

I think what I'm recalling is that Scott Pilgrim got a quick exit from the theaters, so I probably assumed it got bad reviews based off of that.

That and the fact that it mainly tries to appeal to a fairly small demographic of people, none of which would encompass professional movie critics.

I think Sucker Punch still got a longer theater run than Scott Pilgrim did too :o.

Eh the reviews I have actually seen/read (by critics I trust) have been pretty overwhelmingly positive (for Super). Wasn't aware it was being panned by the rest of the review community. It's short theatre run makes sense now.

Ok, time for serious Zenith discussion.

It's about a 3.5 hour drive from Westminster. I'd rather go up early Saturday morning than Friday night just because the traffic will be a lot easier to deal with, and then we'd only need to get a hotel for one night.

Who is interested in going? If I'm driving then no more than 4 or we won't have room for our stuff. And I would definitely need to ask for gas money for this trip.

Seriously.

I'm down for sat morning, and could drive if that would be preferable. I could squeeze one more in my car, but I cant' guarantee it would be comfortable (esp. if one of the 5 is Count Kaiser).

I would prefer it if you drove honestly. My truck gets crap gas mileage and has no storage room for TVs and stuff, just not good for the bigger roadtrips.

I wouldn't mind going. But if there's more than 5 people interested in going I can drop out to make room. 5 hours is an uncomfortable length of time to be in a car. Plus my motivation for Smash is getting lower by the day. :(

What's up, TH? Anything you feel like discussing?

@JC - No prob. Unless someone else volunteers (unlikely) I'll assume I'm driving then.

It's mostly the fact that there's nothing to gain anymore from just practing tech skill. Yeah it's nice to keep myself in shape as it were, but I've gotten to a point where my essential techs are sufficient, but I need to practice reading and active thinking. Unfortunately one day a week only isn't going to cut it, and there's no one at a high enough level that I can practice against on a regular basis (besides CK, but he's not crazy about the game anyway).

Also I saw a video where a Fox player like 8-10 stocked a level 9 CPU without taking a single percent of damage. If that's how someone can play like, there's no way I could even hope to match that no matter my innate talent for technical play.

Sounds like you're getting discouraged. Too bad you can't find a training buddy. Maybe switching to melee for a bit would help in that regard - at least you'd find more people willing to play. And the mental aspect at least is pretty universal. /suggestion

That was a Tool Assisted video dude haha.

Have you tried Chu? He likes the game a lot. And I don't know if there's anyone in MD/VA better at the mental side of smash than Chu.

You're done with school now right? Time to move to MD! :awesome: (seriously though)

Oh another thing you could try to rekindle your interest in smash is picking up a new character. Lucario is very technical and 2D fighterish, might be just your style.

lol oooooh I thought that was someone was just playing. I was thinking "why isn't this guy out there winning tournaments. I don't think even Chu would last very long against them if he got rushed down that hard".

Chu could be an option though. I'll look into it.

As far as Lucario is concerned...you're right in that he does fit a 2D fighter-ish playstyle mold, but I never really liked him as a character all that much which probably won't motivate me to play him all too much. Most of the characters that I like I already play except for Sheik.

But speaking of a 2D fighter playstyle and characters I like...remember when I asked you which character in P:M can use snakes?

I found him XD.

@cmart ugh tap jump. That's all. I can deal with a lot of things, but not that. It might do me good to play Melee anyway. Maybe I can better analyze why P:M still feels so off by comparison even though all the numbers seem to match.

EDIT: I could also main...

I live in Ellicott City. Of course I can drive; I've driven to Westminster before '-.-
If you mean do I have a car that I can use, then the answer to that is also yes.

Less than ideal - I believe that's Caeser's family BWW day, and I too usually use the opportunity to hang out w/ non-smash friends. We're probably playing tomorrow tho

Alright guys, we have a hotel room for Zenith. Saturday night only. It's about $160 and only has a king bed because it's only supposed to be for 2 (it's all they had left) so we'll have to go in separately. Not a big deal though. We'll bring sleeping bags.

If you don't like those arrangements, feel free to try to find something better. I can cancel the reservation up until Saturday afternoon.

So, other than cmart, TH, and I, is anyone else going? We have room for one more comfortably, and any extra we can split the hotel/gas fees would be great.

I would be more open to hanging out if a certain someone apologizes/ talks to me. <- hint: do it
I don't know why any issue we have would stop you from hanging out with anyone else. We're all grown ups here, if you want to hang out with anyone here be my guest. They're your friends just as much as they are mine.

You want an apology though? That's the easiest thing in the world right now. I can apologize a thousand times because all I've wanted to do is apologize enough times that it'll just go away. I am truly sorry, but that won't change the reality of the situation that this is the kind of thing that kills friendships. Even if you somehow manage to forgive me, I can never forgive myself.

I would have rather avoided doing this here of all mediums though. A text would have sufficed.
