Hey, guys. I'd like to introduce myself, for a moment.
I'm Pawclaw, from New Jersey. Originally a Falco main since release, I've been picking up and dropping ganon a lot ever since the release of smash 4, kind of like Wii Fit Trainer and Marth, whom I had to revisit time and again after going to other characters, to understand the perspective or angles I needed to consider when playing them, without feeling like I'm exhausting myself on trying to make progress with a character. That being said, I have only started soloing or putting ganon at the batter's plate for the last couple months and playing him essentially as a MAIN, only resorting to Falco on my absolute worst personal matchups. I've been placingfairly well at locals recently, getting 3rd and 5th for the last few tournaments, with maybe 1 or 2 terrible placements. I've actually fought
@Gunblade789 , we agreed to mirrors at a local in bracket , and he beat me best of 3 with neck to neck results. And then a couple weeks later, I beat him in mirrors. Now, I don't know what that says, considering gunblade is currently playing a handful of characters and probably hasn't played ganondorf in a while, but it's definitely a milestone for me and says a little bit about the progress my ganondorf has made (if no footage is present of my ganondorf). Each tournament having maybe 20-30 entrants. It has been SUCH A THRILL to play ganondorf over the last month or so. I've gotten many compliments from my opponents, even with the most disrespectful set endings. And I'm pleased to say that I had the privilege to disrespect a bayonetta, on stream, day 3 of her release (that I also have footage for). I'm very confident.
Off the bat, I would say that, to my surprise, after looking at the post (
http://smashboards.com/threads/demon-kings-3-experts-weigh-in-on-smash-4-ganondorf.430776/ ) I do well against zero suit, sheik, and Rosalina and Luma (not to say that they are each not very hard). BUT diddy kong is a character I JUST can't WRAP my HEAD around. Christ.
Now, as part of my introduction, I want to link a video. However, I don't know if its suitable to put a video either here, OR in the ganon video thread: (
http://smashboards.com/threads/the-battle-for-power-video-matchmaking-thread.368251/ ) . I have one special video I want to show you guys, and also I upload my matches to my youtube channel from local streams periodically.
Let me know!!! I'm going to post in the ganon tier list and video thread as well in a moment.
Anyway, now that that has been said, I would like to give to take the time respect to the ganon I have observed thusfar or remember (its been a month or so since I had time to just look up ganondorf videos, much less know where to look besides general youtube filters )
Ray_Kalm
, your ganondorf is exquisite. It is definitely at the top and every now and then I look up videos of you, to maybe find some confidence on certain matchups, or just to get ideas. One idea that I've been employing SPECIFICALLY on streams at tournaments or on my personal stream, is shield break into model push into ganoncide. It is so disrespectful in all the right ways and I have a couple videos of footage that I want to upload and add a little shoutout to you for, for teaching me that, in a way.
@Gunblade789 , I've known about you ever since I started my first tournament ever around when (outside reference) Roy came out in Project M, and have met you many times. You were a decent marth player, and now in Smash 4 it seems that you are our region's (tri-state)'s ganondorf (if not you, then myself, at this point), and play other heavy hitters like DDD as well. I haven't watched too many matches of yours, but I always hear that you like to condition people into airdodging and make great use of up smash, which I always have admired since I started soloing/playing ganon a lot more. Even with my own arsenal of tricks, gimmicks, and plays up my sleeve, and even though it seems I have surpassed you, I still admire your plays and you're a funny guy in person. I know you're playing Cloud and Corrin nowadays, but much respect to your ganon. I always hesitate before sharing with people that I beat you in ganon mirrors, because I feel like you have maybe put aside ganondorf for a little too long, and would probably come back and best me in another ganon mirror, given the opportunity. Keep commentating and stay awesome, man.
There's a ganondorf vine account. I saw him maybe a couple times and thought the tech he displayed was amazing and very creative. However, I only watched all of his ganondorf vines an hour ago, being tipped by one of the ganon mains talking about him in this thread, though the name escapes me.
Anyway, I very much look forward to connecting with the ganondorf community more. I stream every now and then, but more details on that on another post. This one's extensively long already. I want to bring warlock punch to the competitive scene more, as I have made great use of it and thing it is severely underused, for a character that excels on reads and initimidation.
Here's a small introduction video that is a compilation of clips from my stream. It's nothing impressive, and it's more on the goofy side, being my earlier days with ganon but it's a nice ice breaker for me, my ganondorf, and my streams. Feel free to check out my tournament matches. And when prompted, I'll post that other hype video I talked about earlier in this post.
