"The End" Melee + Brawl Tournaments in NB, TX - Results

Woooo.

First off, I'd like to thank everyone for coming. It was a lot of work running three tournaments in a row with a lock-in in the middle, but it was an amazing weekend. I hope everyone had fun. We at Wifi Wars plan on hosting a lot of Texas tournaments, some much bigger than this one. If you guys have any recommendations for us (besides plugging the computer into a different socket ) please let us know.

Now, for the actual results:

Melee Singles:
1st/2nd - caveman / Xelic (they didn't even want to play, they just split it)
3rd - Smiles

Look at those rich jerks. There were much better pictures, but that pose of Smiles' is the best **** thing I have seen in years. 10 e-props to you. Caveman/Xelic walked away with about $300 each and smiles with about $75. They're just lucky I didn't enter.

And for the bracket (not 100% accurate because of computer crash, but very close):

Melee Doubles:
1st - caveman and Xelic
2nd - king mosquito and SOS
3rd - hylian and Ahn

Unfortunately, we are idiots and lost the bracket to this as well because of the computer crash. Luckily enough we were able to record the semi-finals and finals. I will have those up soon.

Brawl Singles:
1st - zelda's down b is worse than sheiks (cal)
2nd - sancho (marcus)
3rd - Lee

There were some epic Brawl matches in this one. I'll put them on the Wifi Wars Youtube channel soon (I already have some up) at http://www.youtube.com/user/WifiWarsVideos . I have hope for Brawl being competitive after this little tournament.

Whoever that sexy guy on the right is, he definitely should have won. He must have thrown the matches to be nice. What a swell fellow.

Again, thanks everyone for coming. Props to the D-Pad and all the awesome people I met. We'll be seeing everyone again soon!

And one more thing...

The MVP goes to Hylian. He is a ****ing tank. He came for the Melee singles tournament on Saturday, stayed all day, stayed for the all night lock-in, and played in both the Melee doubles and Brawl singles tournaments on Sunday. Cal doesn't get the MVP because he's a terrorist.

And Mr. C owns everyone else because he likes Brawl. The rest of you are communists.

EDIT: Who was playing Brawl under the tag Riot? The video sheet doesn't correspond to the tape time at all for some reason, so I'm trying to get it all worked out. If anyone used tags (besides the obvious Hyli) please post them here. Any additional info would help (what characters you played, any matches you remembered, etc).

Lee, I played red Marth and black Zelda exclusively. I usually used the tag "Riot," but I used "Kal" at the end.

I should've beaten Fear. I had 3 stock on his 1 and he had 120% on our second match (I won the first). I just choked edge-guarding, and he made a ridiculous comeback.

He is amazing as hell, though.

Tony: Glad everyone enjoyed themselves this weekend. First, hats off to Lee and Scav for with out them it would not have gone so well! Second, Jordan/caveman thanks for taking all our money it was fun.
Everyone else thanks again for coming to the D-Pad and I hope we can have many more tournaments to come! All of you guys were a blast to hangout with, and we would love to have the smash community back at the D-Pad anytime.

That tournament was good ****. Still can't believe Kal and his Ganondorf got so far. Hilarious.

I'm kinda tired of going against SOS like first round in teams like the last two tournaments I went to.
Losing in singles to Austin and Mr.C is fine by me, though I know I can get the Luigi/Marth matchup down a little bit better.

Brawl consumed most of my playing time, it just rocked too hard to ignore.

When it came down to the Melee singles finals, Xelic was actually so scared to play caveman that he wet himself. When he started crying, I allowed him to rest his head upon my bosom. The real reason I was comforting him, however, is because I felt bad for playing hide the salami with his mother. I went over to tell caveman that Xelic couldn't play in the finals and they should just split the money. He tried to talk back, so I drop kicked him through a wall. The pot was actually $4500, but I stole the rest of it.
