The Earth is flat?!

I do believe the Earth is flat.
Ok, before this starts a war between opinions, I'd like to point out if the world was flat wouldn't the world be in stand still considering the fact that the world is supposed to spin 360 degrees while it goes around the sun, but if its flat it would have incredible drag thus stopping the earth from moving. And causing no Night or Day for some parts of the world. AND don't say the sun circles around us because we ARE NOT the center of the universe and all other universes for that matter. The sun is stationary. And yet if the earth could move how could we explain that the the Meteorites that hit us regularly but to small to cause massive damage, completely miss us while the earth is parallel to them?

The hilarious thing about the flat earth Society is that people knew the Earth was round a lot earlier (like, centuries to possibly millennia) that most people think they did. Basically any culture that interested in Astronomy knew the Earth was round, including the Ancient Greeks, The Persians/Ottomans, and the Europeans during the Dark Ages, despite what most people think, as most of the knowledge from Greece that wasn't forgotten by Europe came from Aristotle, who knew the Earth was round.

People thought the Earth was round many centuries before people think they did, which is what makes the Flat Earth Society so ridiculous.

Its so arbitrary, its like saying, if you disregard the fact that you can see I'm wearing a green shirt, It is clearly blue.
All the actual PHOTO evidence is out there, and how does google Earth work if Earth is a disc, huh?

But to clarify, only the educated folk in the Dark Ages knew if I recall correctly. The lower class did not know. Picky, but a possible source of the myth I guess?

What differed in Columbus's views from the rest was that he thought the earth was only half of its real size (and is obviously wrong). Educated folk (in Spain) had known Eratosthenes's calculations and thought but thought the Earth was only 1/2 land.

Columbus was dead wrong but it ended up helping him in the long run. Go figure.

LOl, the Only way i could see the earth bieng flat is if it was the center of the universe

big phailure to those who still believe the earth is flat, they deserve a trip to space to see for themselves. then again i might want that space trip too, in order to see the look on thier faces and laugh at that failure.

how does the earth being at the center of the universe change whether it would be flat or not? The universe itself isn't flat so I don't see how that would make sense xD

Lol its a wierd way to look at it huh, I was thinkn somthing like the battle maps on starfox 64 but i guess that concept doesn't get across too well. Any ways its kinda funny to beleive earth as flat.

It would support the theory that sun sun surrounds us, resulting in variant and possible weather changes that we experience now. If Earth was flat and it did go around the sun, there would not be at all the same weather patterns.

you mean the theory that the sun revolves around the earth? I'm sorry but I have no idea what you are saying.

Hmm, I didn't notice my typo, sorry.
Let's start fresh

If the Earth were in the center of the universe, the sun would circle around us. This has already been proven wrong. Our solar system is heliocentric meaning we, Earth, circle around the sun.

If the Earth was flat, and it circled around the sun, there would be no equal exposure to the sun and the Earth would not spin.
If the Earth was flat and the sun circled around it, geocentirc. The weather pattern in theory could be possible.

Flat Earth would only work if it was in the center of the universe. Otherwise weather would not make sense.
Hope that clears it up

kinda, still a little confusing since I've never heard an arguement suggesting the earth would be flat xD, but, if the earth was flat, then why would the sun get to be a sphere? I would assume if one thing is flat, then the rest would have to be flat too.

So the earth is a disc, huh?

Hmm. I guess the universe is a hard-drive, then. Cool.
Lol. I'm mad this became a discussion of what the Earth would be like as a disk. Well weather would be less differential, and a lot hotter, since the degree of the angle of light hitting Earth's will decrease.

perhaps the earth is a texture wrapped around a sphere.

the texture is FLAT

The theory is that the earth is flat, we are being rocketed upwards by some kind of force--which is why we have 'gravity', and that the government covers up the fact that the earth is flat.
The reason it can't be proved is, is they also believe the government has set up points where they will shoot down anyone trying to travel to the ends of earth.

And yet, not one of them asks the question "Why would this benifit the government in ANY way"

Seriously. What would be to gain from the government running an op pretending the world is a sphere. Would it just be for lulz?

It's not so far-fetched.

You're more likely to be able to support yourself standing on a disc than you are standing on a basketball or something.

They might be wrong (well... they are wrong) but that doesn't make them idiots. Close-minded, maybe. But they're not idiots. The majority of the debaters on there are actually very skilled at what they do and are only arguing in favor of the Earth being flat to challenge themselves.

The same can be said for a giant disc with gravity.

Anything that's large enough and has gravity can act as a celestial body. Not everything out there is a sphere.
