From what I can see, Alakazam and Gardevoir both counter Weezing, and since Alakazam was first, Grumpig should be the current counter.

Right?

Well, Grumpig doesn't counter Gardevoir, I checked. I forgot about Gardevoir countering Alakazam, but I'm pretty sure it works.

shadow ball 2HKOs gardy and he outspeeds naturally, while Grumpig can't 2HKO and can be taken out with Mirror Coat (i assume it has negative priority), then Shadow Ball.

wait is it necessary to beat alakazam

if so then ignore this post

Though I meant to counter weezing, why does gardevoir fail at countering alakazam? It can take any hit with its beast SpD, put it to sleep, taunt so it can't CM/encore, then super effective dream eater to kill it... LOL

I'm probably missing something though

yeah...psychic hasn't been SE vs psychic in anything but the tcg...

gardevoir counters zam (unless i missed an even better scenario)

turn 1: gardevoir in, alakazam CM
turn 2: alakazam CM, gardevoir hypnosis
turn 3: alakazam asleep, gardevoir taunts
turn 4: alakazam asleep, gardevoir does 20%
turn 5: alakazam wakes up and does 55%, gardevoir hypnosis
turn 6: alakazam (70%) asleep, gardevoir does 20% and recovers 10%
turn 7: alakazam asleep, gardevoir does 20% and recovers 10%
turn 8: alakazam wakes up and does 55%, gardevoir hypnosis
turn 9: alakazam asleep (20%), gardevoir does 20% and recovers 10%, taunt ends

gardy wins

also tcg bronzong (team galactic's bronzong) is stupid, it's weak to psychic and strong vs fire. being 4x resistant to psychic and immune to poison, the two types covered by tcg psychic, obviously eluded the tcg makers

@ cheeseball: Dream Eater is ghost. That's why its super effective
@ Drugged Fox, No pokemon fears Dream Eater because they will switch to activate sleep clause.

Dream eater is psychic? I suck =/ It just sounds like a ghost type move to me, and since I never used it I forgot to check =PP

My bad then; now i can just complain about that awesome SAME MINUTE ninja.

Edit: I wasn't aware switching out was valid in the counter game...

dream eater is psychic, no doubts there

but im stupid

i forgot that smogon's damage calculator goes hp-atk-def-spatk-spdef-spe and i filled in gardy's sp.atk evs wrong

gardy wins because she 5HKOs alakazam rather than 6HKOs (20% minimum as opposed to 18% minimum), see edited scenario in prior post

Hypnosis only has 55% accuracy or something like that, it wouldnt work 3 times in a row.

Counter fail

Anything above 55% acc. is treated as always hitting.

Dumb sometimes, but those are the rules.

also that "nfe is treated as same tier as its evo" is the worst rule I've ever seen 8D

Rule 7: Hax rules: Flinch effects over 50% (Serene Grace Dunsparce) are assumed every other turn, functioning after the first use. Flinch effects under 50% (everything else) are ignored. Paralysis hax is ignored. Confusion is assumed to hit every other turn after the first use. 50% critical hit rate is assumed to crit every other turn after the first use. Any critical hit rate under 50% is ignored. Multi-hit moves will be assumed to hit the highest amount of times by the original pokémon, and minimum amount of times for the counter.

I believe sleep is assumed to last 2 turns everytime, as well.

That's the beauty of this game, it's about finding awesome ridiculous counters that may or may not work normally. Yes, I just used a dream eater gardevoir to counter a ****ing psychic type. That's why this game used to be so fun. If we wanted a serious thing, then we'd just be playing shoddy/wifi and wouldn't have this game =DD

Speaking of crits...

Absol @ Scope Lens
Adamant / Super Luck
4 HP / 252 Atk. / 252 Spe.

Night Slash
Stone Edge
Giga Impact
Swords Dance

A critical Stone Edge will cut your health by 64.5%, during which you could either attack twice with EQ or once after an SD, neither of which KOs. Then I can outspeed and Giga Impact to finish you off.

Without Focus Energy, your Crit Ratio (33%) is still too low to be noted, and thus is ignored.

You would require Focus Energy to boost to 50%, which Absol does not have.

Counter fail, seeing as Drapion can 3HKO you while you fail to outspeed and 2HKO back.

Actually Absol outspeeds because of the EVs

Dual counter: the cow that ends it all:

Miltank @ Life Orb
Careful/Scrappy
252 HP/200 Atk/56 Spe
~ Earthquake
~ Hammer Arm
~ Return (lololololol Milk Drink is the best move evar)
~ Psych Up

If drapion swords dances I psych up and beat you down. 56 Spe puts me above both Drapion and Absol. If Drapion doesn't SD then unboosted EQ is a 3HKO (lefties), while it 5HKOs (no chance of life orb kills, 46 + 20 =/= 100) at best. SD crunch does 2HKO with life orb damage on me, but my +2 EQ is an easy kill. Absol is OHKOed by unboosted hammer arm and is outsped regardless, while it fails to KO barring a crit with giga impact.

But I do outspeed. How much does a +2 Giga Impact do to both of them?

it should kill, seeing as he hasn't got defence investment

ok i ran calcs its 95.9% - 113.1%

in short it doesn't work as a counter without something like life orb or silk scarf

and if by 'both' you meant miltank as well you don't outspeed and get one shotted with hammer arm anyway

btw guys my miltank was never actually countered

gastly can *not* survive return on the switch-in

Regice @ Leftovers
Careful/Clear Body
252 HP/4 Atk/252 SpD

This is a real man's Regice. Empoleon does piddly damage without his petaya berry, which I won't let him get. Rest when tired, Earthquake when you're done messing.
