I didn't see this mentioned in any of the character specific forums by anyone but myself, so I figured I'd mention it here, as well, as it's a helpful trick that applies to multiple characters.
If you start Luigi's Green Missile, Pikachu's Skull Bash, Mii Swordfighter's Airborne Assault, or Mii Brawler's Burning Dropkick with a smash input instead of a tilt, it'll skip a portion of the move's charge time, yielding higher damage on an uncharged attack and allowing you to reach a full charge faster.
It also applies to all of the former two's custom moves, and is especially helpful with the Floating Missile and Heavy Skull Bash customs, the former now charging to the max quickly enough to be a viable offensive option, and the latter having enough power uncharged to function as a quick, practical KO move.
It strangely doesn't work with Ike's Quick Draw, despite it also being a chargeable side special that propels you forward.
