Mike: First of all, congrats on beating Chu, he is hella good, and a very well known smasher. Second of all, yes, B.C (especially us in Vancouver) has become VERY hungry for competition, and we are sturggling to make a name for ourselves. I think it's already safe to say that we are the Edmonton of BC (If that makes any sense). What I mean is, I'm confident enough to say that if you took the 10 best players here in Vancouver and put them up against the 10 best players from ANY other city in BC, we would pwn :D. However, that's not enough to make a name for ourselves...
We have recently expanded our smashing community within greater Vancouver and are beginning to get our S*** together by organizing small tournaments and putting together standardized rules with which we can run our tournaments more efficiently. By doing this, we hope to get a feel for what tournament play is really like. I think it's safe to say that we have potential out here, we just need to further develop it.
I've recently been thinking about just HOW we Vancouver BC smashers can prove ourselves. I'm aware that SKYPAL regularly hosts tournaments in or near Washington or Seattle. I'm going to talk with the smash community around here and propose that after we have recruited all the smashers in the greater Vancouver area we can and have hosted several small tournaments for eachother, that we send at least our 4 best to a SKYPAL tournament (and whoever else wants to attend). I think that this is the only way us BC smashers can make a name for ourselves.... we have to compete in one of SKYPAL's tournaments, and play the best smash we ever have in our lives.
Smashers of Vancouver: We got a ways to go you guys, but with continuous tournaments, smashfests, and all out dedication, we CAN make a name for ourselves, we can become something great, we can truly become, some of the best smashers this world has ever known! *Rallies BC flag*
