That weekly free tourny idea sounds great.:)

Even though I won't be able to partake often due to my location.:p

I'll let you guys know next time I'm heading into the Vancouver area, and maybe engage in some smashing then.

I'm pretty good with Doc now.

Mike went to the last bi-weekly at the Elite 5's tournament and won I believe, that should be his most recent win. I do not believe Ken was there though, but the other people should have been great there too. Mike is clearly the best PROVEN Canadian player alright guys. Who else has proven themselves? Jarrod is awesome too, and some of those Montreal guys got some tight skills as well, and they all have a name. Hopefully once tournaments here and all run and we get more experience, then we will prove ourselves.

Hey I wont deny that Mike is good. Being able to hold his own against some very good people, yeah, I say that makes him good. But Canada's never really had the opportunity to have a Canadian tourney, or even have a large amount of Canadians go down to the US to play. So it's hard to say how we stack up against the Americans or even ourselves, and this would be a great opportunity to find out. Also, people could start establishing themselves like they do in America. You say the name Azen, or Ken, or Isai, and most likely, any (decent) smasher you talk to will know who you're talking about. Maybe we can have some smash giants in Canada too. And then it'd be interesting to see our best stack up against theirs. They have quite a lot more experience backing them, no doubting that, but it'd still be interesting, and undoubtedly fun. This'd be one heckuva thing to organize though, so again, just a ponder by me. But if it ever happens though, then fundraiser tourneys could be a great way to help us travel to the big events.

hahah mike here ^_^_^^_^_

wicked to see you guys still hungry for competition!

dont worry tho, im the strongest player ive ever been. got a lot of disciplez here in e-town that i play frequently. you could say i tryin to make the community stronger! altho my last tourney was way back in jan at ken's biweekly. ken chose not to participate though, because he wanted it to be me vs chu dat in the finals, and it was ^_^. him and i are real close in skill but i won that day, thankfully!

i would definately be interested in a big canada tourney type thing but its SO hard to pull off...not to mention im considering melee fc 3 to represent west coast, and i might get to fight for team north america, provided i find the money to go to japan. but since i always got this "best in canada" title over my head for awhile now, i would definately like to prove it, without a doubt.

I'm thinking about hosting a small tournament at my house sometime next week.

If any of you are interested you can contact me on MSN at TheDracolord@hotmail.com

The rules will be the skypal default rules and banned stages.

Its small so probably about 10 people.

Just so you know my house is about an hour or so away from Nanaimo.

I can clear up the details later as well as location if anyone is interested.

To: Mike DIGGITY-DAWG

Mike: First of all, congrats on beating Chu, he is hella good, and a very well known smasher. Second of all, yes, B.C (especially us in Vancouver) has become VERY hungry for competition, and we are sturggling to make a name for ourselves. I think it's already safe to say that we are the Edmonton of BC (If that makes any sense). What I mean is, I'm confident enough to say that if you took the 10 best players here in Vancouver and put them up against the 10 best players from ANY other city in BC, we would pwn :D. However, that's not enough to make a name for ourselves...

We have recently expanded our smashing community within greater Vancouver and are beginning to get our S*** together by organizing small tournaments and putting together standardized rules with which we can run our tournaments more efficiently. By doing this, we hope to get a feel for what tournament play is really like. I think it's safe to say that we have potential out here, we just need to further develop it.

I've recently been thinking about just HOW we Vancouver BC smashers can prove ourselves. I'm aware that SKYPAL regularly hosts tournaments in or near Washington or Seattle. I'm going to talk with the smash community around here and propose that after we have recruited all the smashers in the greater Vancouver area we can and have hosted several small tournaments for eachother, that we send at least our 4 best to a SKYPAL tournament (and whoever else wants to attend). I think that this is the only way us BC smashers can make a name for ourselves.... we have to compete in one of SKYPAL's tournaments, and play the best smash we ever have in our lives.

Smashers of Vancouver: We got a ways to go you guys, but with continuous tournaments, smashfests, and all out dedication, we CAN make a name for ourselves, we can become something great, we can truly become, some of the best smashers this world has ever known! *Rallies BC flag*

Well if you take the 6:40 sailing from the Denman ferry terminal you could make it to Nanaimo (departure bay to Horseshoe bay) for the 9:00 [last sailing] with plenty of time.

Which would work well with the tournament hours.

So far its me and Joey.

He said he'd invite some people from his school that are interested and if anyone else plans on coming.

I just found out I can't do it this week, since we'll be having company over on saturday.

So probably next week.

Yeah well its actually going to be in about 2 weeks so you guys should have lots of time to decide.

I don't expect anyone to come, but if they do...all the better.:)

And if time is an issue I could reschedule the starting/finishing date.

Also is it gonna be on Saturday or Sunday?
Its going to be at my house.

I'm aiming for Saturday since it could be an inconvinience for some people to get home late on a sunday.

bah, wish i could go, Tynan, but I wouldn't be allowed to unless it's a long weekend or extended break or something.

Anyway, it wouldn't be too difficult for us to make it to SKYPAL sometime in the summer. We just need to organize some drivers to get us there. I'm interested in going to this but it might be lonely going alone, so we should get together everyone that shows interest in this, and then because not everybody can be driven there, we'll use the tourney results from everything we have to see who goes. We'll also have to get the OK from SKYPAL but it'd be awesome to go down there and play. I hear no non-SKYPAL'er has ever won a SKYPAL event. Let's change that :D

I was thinking of 10 dollars admission for singles, 5 each for doubles.

Singles split = 60/30/10

Doubles=50/30/20

Or something like that, it could change but I'm aiming for something like that.

Well who would drive us allll the way To seatle? Wilfred?

Also we should have another tournament soon. maybe Niks house?:D

and also Tiep that not true wut u said that No Skypaler has ever won in a Skypal Event because ISAI has!

sounds good Tynan but i think u should count the people first and then put how much of the money each person gets.

hehe.. looks like I'm a little behind on my SKYPAL history. Anyway, hopefully Wilfred could drive. If I'm allowed to then my license only allows me to take one person. I think Wilfred can take as many as he wants. I'm not sure who else could drive.

I'm also still waiting on Nik to get back from Alberta to see the word on whether or not his house would be able to host tourneys. Can't wait :)

Magnum

This isn't a joke. I do believe we would get SOME interesting matches out of the whole Edmonton vs Vancouver thing. Mike's godly though, who here would step up to challenge him? Wilfred or Daruis perhaps? Definetly not me, my playing style forbids it. Then of course there's Jarrod, he's quite a handful with that fox of his. Then there's you Magnum, I seen that bowser, and the marth to back up higher tier matches, wowza. I dunno, who are the other good players in Edmonton?
Let's just say skillwise, you win because you have Mike, but smasher for smasher... I think we'd give you a run for ya monaaaayyyyyyy!:chuckle:

ROAD TRIP!!!

Do you Edmontonians travel? Maybe you can come to Vancouver in the summer and then we can all go to SKYPAL together :D

Edit: Oh yeah, one of our Smashers (Nik/Nintensity) is going over to Alberta soon. Calgary, I think. Maybe he can give you a taste :)

Yeah I will, I was just using that as an example in the mean time.

I'm sure later this week I'll have a much better idea of it anyways.

A rivalry already?!? Edmonton vs Vancouver, I wonder how that will play out guys. Mike and Jarrod already won, so that leaves 8 more people and Van. needs to step up those 2 lost matches. No offence guys, we can't compete with their experience and skill. Magnum (its Troy), you barely play and I think you can do some damage against us, nobody really knows how to play against a Bowser.

Adam, you got skills man, don't bring yourself down, have confidence in your ability dude.

SKYPAL tournaments sound great... but yes, how will we get there. First I got summer school planned, I wanna finish off some grade 12 courses before the grade 12 full school year starts. Maybe near the end of August is where I MIGHT be able to do something, that's if its alright with you guys.

Jeremy 3 stocked Eric, nice job Jeremy, for a guy who does not have the game, you are sure something else.

TheKoopaBros. -sorry I can't go to your small little get together, its a bit far for my friends and I, but I hope you have some fun holding it!

You guys definately have skillz though! I think a smasher for smasher tourney would be VERY close. It's a little easier to get better here training or playing against exceptionally good smashers (Mike... Jarrod... etc). I doubt we could assemble our whole crew of best smashers here, because 2 of the top 5 best e-town smashers are 13... 14 years old. As for a summer road trip... meh, not impossible. I'd bet the only people that would travel though are Jarrod, Mike, me, and maybe my bro.

Ok, I'm back online...its been a while since i've been on Smashboards...I've been playing too much smash at my house lately, mastering the Falco as always ^-^

Anyways, I'm gonna go to Calgary this weekend; I'm gonna Videotape some matches to see how Neil's Fox is...****, can't wait, because I remember facing him 2 years ago...Falco Vs. Fox...We were pretty much equal...But now, 2 years has passed, and Its now time to face the Dark Side...I've heard that his Fox is pretty vicious, Troy, sounds like he totally mastered his Fox and his reflector combos X_X...Don't worry guys, Nick here is gonna wipe them out ^-^, after what they did to our Vancouver Canucks a while back in the playoffs.

Agh...Its been a long time since I had Smash with you Vancouverites. But the thing is, I don't think It can be the 15th-16th weekend; because I'm heading out to Regina for my Taekwon-do Western tournament (Currently second Degree Black belt muahahh)...Hungry for some competition man.

Yeah, but don't worry guys...Just don't worry.

LONG LIVE THE GREATER VANCOUVER SMASH CREW

hehe, thats cool if Neil got a crazy Fox. Remember, Fox isn't my only character, I can practically pull an Azen and use all, it's just my Fox seems to excell at times. I hope you do well and represent the great Vancouver area and Falco too. Good luck with your karate too man! I can't wait to smash it up, I need practice, all this darn school work.
