I have some not so great news.
On my way back from some after tourney smashing at Keith's place, I got swarm-mugged at Newton Exchange.

They took my rings, my DS-lite, $15, my buspass (First an expired one, then my current one).
The main guy threatened me with Bear mace, a second guy with scruffy red facial hair hit me in the side of the head, some fat kid with a shaved head grabbed me by the neck and smacked me against the bus-stop a few times. There were somewhere between 6-12 of them. They booked it shortly after.

I didn't take any serious injuries, Police were able to find my buspass on the guy with the bear mace, and arrested him. I'm shaken up, very shaken up, but I decided it would be best to tell you all for this purpose: Be careful when commuting. Don't show anything of any value, try not to commute on public transit past certain hours.

They weren't smart enough to search the rest of my backpack, but saw where I put the DS.
For whatever reason, the guy who mugged me decided to let me keep my backpack after the DS was taken from it. I'm actually kinda embarrassed, seeing as the game in it was Super Princess Peach. Yeah.

I had my Ipod Video in that Backpack. They didn't find it. They just rushed to get away, seeing as Scot and Kyle had made a run for it and went to phone for police.
Learn from my mistakes, ****it.

But yeah, horrible experience. Especially for Sean. I think we all made the right decisions though. I can't get over how 911 didn't work on the cell phone the first time! Maybe I was just too **** freaked out and dialed the wrong number or something, I dunno. Probably because for all I know they might have been chasing us and it was a race against the clock.

Man, They took My DS lite, with Supa princess peach in it. I bought that 3 days ago!
They also took about $15 and 2 bus-passes. For whatever reason, they let me keep my backpack and the rest of it's contents. I don't understand why the guy who started it, literally said something along the lines of, "Alright, that's enough, let him keep his backpack."

edit: They also took my rings. I feel so naked on my hands.

Now that I think about it, I recognize one of the kids. He's at Newton exchage alot, and I have seen him around alot.

I have yet to get any of my **** back. The stuff that has been seized from him (The buspass, 5 bucks) Is being kept for evidence. Now that I think about it, i actually had a 50 in my wallet. And an Ipod video in my backpack.

Guys please, this really does scare me, so now when you wish to travel, please post here and ask if somebody can travel with you. At least Scott and Kyle were there to call the cops, who knows what would've happened if that didn't happen. Travel in groups, ask for rides and carpool if possible. If you know you're coming late at night, just ask somebody for a ride or something.

For SURE man. You gotta be safe. I often take the 410 from richmond at like 9pm. But at least, the worst part of my commute is taking the skytrain from 22nd street one station over. It's new west, but i'm there for like 20 seconds.

Once in burnaby, i'm fine.

Holy ****e, LysanderBlack, I'm sorry to hear about that. The original description you gave sort of scared me (I'm a tall red haired guy who needs to shave more o.o...), especially since I commute to school in burnaby from richmond 5 days a week via buses, and I play my DS lite all the time on it.

Anyways, hope you get your stuff back. And if you remember what time you got mugged, I'd also want to know, just so I can remember to watch myself during that timeframe.

I sort of second that. I was being stupid. I was playing my DS while waiting for a bus that wouldn't come around for a good half hour. I should have thought about the fact that **** happens at night.

From now on, we should try to get back to wherever we go by 10, latest (if we are taking public transit). If a ride is available later than that, so be it.

Oh man, I know what it feels like to have **** stolen from you, but I've never been in a situation like that. I hardly ever commute anywhere, so I should take this as a lesson. I hope you get your stuff back, and don't let it scare you too much; just be more careful and stay in groups.

Also, why does everyone use ellipses so much? The last posts made by Camerican, Genesis, Popsicler, and AIDS all had periods in groups of three. Why do people do that so much now? It really bugs me... LOL

Hahahha, too true man, too true. But you know my dad is an auto-claims lawyer. He won't let me do that. So, I gotta do my time, then earn my N.
Yeah, I'm scared too, but I learned that RCMP ****ing rock. The guy i talked to was great, and wierdly enough, turned out to have the same birthday as me lol. I ended up asking him about how long he's been on the force (2 months, for those who are curious), and we talked abit about my brother, and **** like that.

For those of you who don't know, my brother is an RCMP officer. He actually ended up getting an email about this from another member of RCMP, and he was pretty choked from what i heard.

But back on the topic. I gotta do my time before i get my N.

Did you ever end up getting your **** back? I was pretty pissed when that happened, because that wasn't just some streetrats. Those guys were our people, OUR community (smash players). Or am I misinformed?

EDIT: **** Sean, that's lame. If it makes you feel any better, the average criminal amounts to nothing meaningful in life and ends up in jail. Whenever some horrible **** happens to me, I remind myself that I am a superior human being than the person and will ultimately live a happier, more meaningful life than them. It also helps to note that karma (essentially cause and effect - pissing people off will lead to bad, helping leads to good) will bite them in the ***.
