Smash Journeyman
The Amateur Melee League is an Orlando, Florida based league designed with new and up and coming players in mind. The league will provide for meaningful matches that players can play anywhere, anytime, to create opportunities to learn and improve. Joining the league will get you streaming and recording of your matches with commentary, a chance to play and learn from players at or around your skill level, and the chance to learn from the best players in Orlando. Each player will play every other player in their pool over the course of the season. The number of players in each pool will vary depending on number of entrants, and time allotted. There is no cap to how many players may enter the event. We are looking to have between 6 and 10 players per pool.
Players may play wherever, and whenever they want, but a stream/recording setup will be present at CFL Smackdown weeklies at Campus Cards and Games for use for these matches. Players do NOT have to have a League Representative watch or report their match, but if there are discrepancies in reporting match results, a rematch will occur.
The first season will run from August 4th through September 1st. See the timeline below for more details.
At the end of the season, the top players from each pool will move onto the playoffs, which will be a double elimination bracket, with all matches best of 5. We will connect these top players with Power Ranked coaches if that player is interested. Size of bracket Playoff bracket will be determined by number of entrants.
All regular season matches are best of 3. The league follows the standard Apex rule set which can be found here:

During the regular season, 1 point will be awarded to the winner of each set. Game wins will be used in the case of tiebreakers.
Each participant is required to pay $5.
The payouts are as follows:
1st - 40%
2nd - 25%
3rd - 15%
4th - 10%
5th - 5%
5th - 5%
7th - 0%

1: If you have any questions about your eligibility, just ask! We will consider questionable players on a case by case basis.
2: We have the right to refuse any player from entering the league at any time.

Registration Opens: Tuesday, July 21st
Registration Closes: Monday August 3rd
We will continue to take signups for almost two weeks, with the last day of registration being the Monday before the first official day of the league. We will continue to accept payment until August 10th, the Tuesday following Opening Day of the league.
Total time to register: 13 days
AML Season 1 Opening Day: Tuesday, August 4th
We will have the divisions set up by this day, and will start matches this Tuesday night.
Payment Deadline: Tuesday, August 11th
We will continue to take payment until August 11th. If someone is registered, and has not paid by the end of the night on August 11th, they will be disqualified from this season of the league.
Total time to pay entry fee: 21 days
AML Season 1 Closing Day: Tuesday, September 1st
All matches must be played by the conclusion of this night. If your match has not been played, if will count as a loss for BOTH players.
Total time to play matches: 28 days
