The hype train is starting to slow down... :(
Though of course, this has only been deconfirmed for the 3DS version. Still though, how could Sakurai do this to us? And to make it worse, Mii Fighters in Multi-Man Smash.
I like the Multi-Mii Smash.

Never cared much about it, but that's because I sucked at it. Never was able to get the Sheriff trophy in Melee by myself, my brother had to do that one. I do understand why people like it, though.
On another note, Multi-Man Smash. Oh, how much I'm gonna enjoy Cruel Smash. /sarcasm

Don't worry, I'm sure 3DS version has event mode, remember that we haven't seen all solo mode such as the trophy rush.

At least some Target Smash is in, though. While I love my extra modes, I'd rather they focus more on the characters and the actual main part of the game's balance than to make it suffer in the slightest way. We may still be getting the classic Target Smash for Wii U. While I would prefer it was in the game, I won't miss it too much if there's another mode to replace it and the game is perfect otherwise.

I'm happy that Multi-man brawl has Mii's. While it may seem like a turn off, It offers more variety within the gametype. I'm just gonna make a whole bunch of hated celebs and beat the hell out of them.

As for target smash, I rarely touched it. I can understand where people are coming from, being a traditional gametype and all. It'd be like if classic mode was replaced with something else.

That is too bad, but tbh I really don't care about those minigames, so whatever. We have Smash Run, something much more exciting.

I won't say I'm entirely surprised to see Target Smash get dropped in the long run. I did like it in the original game and even Melee's wasn't bad, but you can't keep coming up with entire separate levels for individual characters without running into a wall or reusing old levels. I think maybe they can drop it for a couple times no problem, and then maybe bring it back after they've had a chance to try some new modes like the new adventure mode with splitting pathways and Smash Run.

What I'm trying to say is, with the changes to this newest smash and all the new things to try, I'm not that hurt that Target smash is gone.

As you've probably heard, Metaknight was confirmed today. Along with sir OP the third here, some dojo-y articles went up going into detail about certain aspects of the game.

There's "Stages 1," covering the stages we've seen in the demos, and only those, sadly.

There's "Basic Controls," which is exactly what it says on the tin.
http://www.smashbros.com/us/howto/entry3.html

And the most interesting is "Solo play," confirming the mode with the different routes and KIU style intensity slider is indeed Classic, that Target Test is very likely gone, and conveniently shows that custom moves must be unlocked.

(Will add the important pics in a moment.)

Interesting, I am going to miss Target Test, but perhaps it is for the better (if they were going to go the Brawl route). I see the Kid Icarus influence is fairly prominent in this game. I cannot decide whether or not that is a good thing... or a bad thing.

Target Test could still show up during Classic or the mode could unlock in Stadium once all characters are unlocked. Or it could be gone (other than Smash Run of course)

I thought it was well known that custom moves had to be unlocked since E3?
Expecting the Wii U version modes to be shown after 3DS release in a special Wii U direct or a flood of info.

It could be a good thing if you get your Dark Pit! :awesome:

I only just noticed that the pic of the unlock shows the player unlocking Mario's Super Jump and the picture above it shows the player playing as Mario.

We know from E3 that the customs you unlock in Smash Run are chosen completely at random, but what if in Classic you can only unlock customs that belong to the character you're playing as? That'd make the process a whole lot easier.

Something I'm wondering about from the new images is the top half of this one:

Is it possible its only 6 Stages for Classic this time around, or does it, more than likely, add an empty dot as it goes on?

Edit: Nvm, I just remembered that the latter was true in Brawl

I don't think it's gone. It's either
Unlocked when all characters are unlocked ( or some other requirement)
Wii u only

And you unlock hats for your Miis so people like Mii who have never played those 3DS games can use headgear as well.

Every freakin' 3DS stage is #banned.
Battlefield, Final Destination, Tortimer's Island, Rainbow Road, Prism Tower, and Arena Ferox are all pretty clearly legal 3DS stages. We need to explore how they actually work more, but Pac-Maze, Tomodachi Life, and Paper Mario all look like strong prospects, and I have strong hopes for Jungle Japes this time. 3DS is doing fine on legal stages.

I also don't get the meme with "#banned", but it's not a good one.

Target test could be an unlockable game mode, too. There have been unlockable modes before.

Or more likely, it is Wii - U exclusive.

It's not like they showed the total list of all the stages, so there's nothing confirming that they showed the total list of all Stadium modes. There's no good reason to count Break the Targets out just yet.

It's Sakurai's passive-aggressive way of saying he'd rather be working on a KI:U sequel instead of being tricked into making Smash by Iwata again.

It might be good or it might be bad. Either way I guess we'll find out.

It might be looking like a 3DS exclusive for this kind of Target mode and might be tacked on with Brawl's style of Break the Targets for the Wii-U exclusive.
