Lying about my country.
I'm betting on Wii U exclusive too, same with stuff like Event Matches.

Though I can totally see All-Star make it in as an unlockable mode.

Target Test is currently an element in Smash Run. Finding a door while traveling through Smash Run will drop you into a challenge room, and sometimes that room will have a BREAK THE TARGETS! event, sometimes it's a boss fight, and so on.

If you succeed in the challenge room, you get a load of upgrades, treasure, coins, trophies, etc.

I'm okay with the change; Target Blast looks like a lot of fun and should boast some nice replayability. I do hope there is more than one arrangement of targets/obstacles, though.

I think "Break the Targets" will be a Wii U exclusive because each character will get their own BTT stage like in melee and that many stages wouldn't fit on the 3DS cartridge.

Oh god no, target test isn't very good except in Melee and think. Smash Run is 3DS Exclusive and it's a beat em up adventure, would Target Practice really be a good replacement?
Think of it more as Target Blast is 3DS' version of Break the Targets. In which case, the Wii U version is definitely getting the better one. Also, instead of Smash Run, the Wii U version will likely have an adventure mode similar the Melee. Hopefully, anyway. We don't know any of the Wii U game modes yet.

Maybe there will be individual target blast games

Well... I thought I'd care more than it turns out that I don't. But I'm a big sucker for randomness, so Target Blast and Smash Run are pretty much all I need in terms of single player.

Ah, it's sad... So, I will also participate in the straw grasping and hope that is a unlockable mode

Although, Target Blast seems really fun, differents layouts could help vastly...

I would have said the removal of BTP was more likely due to adding a ton more single player modes like adventure mode, event mode, HRC and Multi-man than just roster expansion or trophies. And in Brawl you had SSE taking up a massive amount of time, resources and disk space as well as a new boss rush mode and co-op versions of older modes.

With the removal of certain single player modes in Sm4sh I can definitely see them spending more time on BTT.
I hate SSE sooo much, and this is one of my reasons.

I don't mind this as Target Blast seems more interesting than TS.
I do miss that Melee provided unique stages for each character, but I don't think it's likely that they will bring that back, especially since Smash 4 has an even larger roster than Brawl's, though who knows for sure. Maybe it'll be around for the Wii U version.

This should really go in the 3DS forum.....
Given the majority of this is currently 3DS exclusive and none of this is Wii U exclusive (minus the stages but they're not covered in the thread titles point) I agree. Moved it as such.

Y'know, come to think of it, a Break the Targets level, provided it has a minimalistic art style, is fairly easy to set up for each and every character without too much hassle. Really you just need a set of points for the target locations, and a set of points, rotations, and scales for the obstacles, and that's that.

Provided you don't go for anything overly clever or crazy, although it's a bit more once you start adding in moving targets and platforms and so on.

but you need to multiply that by 40~50 times one for each character, and you need to change the platforms and set up every single time. Even a minimal design when you need 40 variations will take you weeks or months to complete.

Not necessarily. Picture that there's a team member solely responsible for setting up BtT for each character, and another for doing test runs of each finished one. With someone with any decent level design background under their belt, I see them being able to get five characters' BtT done per day, possibly more if they get into the groove, and then all that's left is fine tuning and adjustment.

At first I was sad about the fact that Target Smash was gone...but the more I thought about it, the more I actually realized I didn't care for it that much. It was just a meh way of unlocking content in the game for me.

Still, I would've like to see what more they could've done with it. It was certainly one of the more creative modes of Smash. So if there is one thing I'm upset about, it is that there is some wasted potential.

Seeing how Target Blast seems to be a spiritual successor in a way, I do wonder if it will take even more from Target Smash then we already know? Could there be different stages for different difficulties perhaps like Target Smash?

I don't see how Break the Targets is gone for good. Maybe it could be a Wii U exclusive, or maybe it could be unlockable this time.

I feel it's too early to jump to conclusions yet. Of course, nothing stops Break the Targets from being out of the 3DS version (outside of the challenges on Smash Run).

But isn't there a chance of it returning in the "Challenges" section, along with Board the Platforms/Race to the Finish/Other Minigames?

I'm going to miss that mode, but maybe target blast will be even better than break the targets? Maybe a mini version will be playable once the full game is out.

This saddens me. At least Smash RUn more than makes up for it. I've never played Target Smash unless Iw as trying to unlock someone or was exceptionally bored.

Sorry I haven't been around. Technical difficulties and whatnot.

It's not like they showed the total list of all the stages, so there's nothing confirming that they showed the total list of all Stadium modes. There's no good reason to count Break the Targets out just yet.
"There are three sub-modes in the Stadium: Multi-Man Smash, Home-Run Contest and the all-new Target Blast."
Sounds like that's all there is. The only unlockable Stadium mode in Brawl was Boss Battles, and that's because they didn't want you fighting Tabuu right off the bat.

Given the majority of this is currently 3DS exclusive and none of this is Wii U exclusive (minus the stages but they're not covered in the thread titles point) I agree. Moved it as such.
Fine by me. I kinda jumped to the conclusion that this was about both versions...

Challenges was the checklist in Brawl, so it's probably not there. Why would they move BtT out of Stadium, anyway?

WHAT!?!?! It can't be gone! I want it! I need it! Please make it DLC then! I need my events!
event mode hasn't been confirmed or deconfirmed. most think it will be under the Challenge section, not the stadium section where the multiman, target blast and home run contest
