tfw when you're in the south hemisphere and you're in plain scorching summer.
You say that like it's a bad thing. Grass is always greener I suppose.

Anyways, happy new year everyone! Hopefully we have more luck in 2020.

it's more of a jab towards these jokes never applying where I live, but I'd say it's pretty objectively bad in places like Australia due to stuff like droughts and bushfires. I also hate the heat so it's naturally my least favorite season as an adult.
those are real?
Exaggerated where I live, but it's pretty bad in other countries/states.

Tried my hand at some fan-made spirits and spirit battles. It was difficult narrowing it down to what seems like a reasonable amount, since the Ace Attorney series has a ton of characters who, if nothing else, would make great spirit battle material.

Also, obligatory warning to beware of game spoilers within these...

I presume Apollo Justice is an echo of Phoenix in this scenario since he's not among the listed?

Yup, I made those under the assumption that Phoenix Wright would get in with Apollo Justice as his Echo Fighter and Courtroom No. 4 as his stage.
I also presume that if Maya is in Phoenix's taunts and moveset like in Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 and how Morgana and Slime are featured in Joker and Hero's taunts, then Trucy Wright would be her equivalent for Apollo.

Wouldn't Athena make more sense since she's his maya?

Isn't Athena more of her own lawyer? I don't really see any of the lawyers as "partner" characters since they're capable of doing the defending.

Besides, Trucy is the original partner for Apollo. Phoenix has had other partners besides Maya, but Maya is the original.

Besides Apollo and Trucy are brother and sister, so the pairing also makes a lot of sense in terms of story.

While I agree Trucy would fit Apollo better, I'd outright call Athena to be a glorified sidekick given how she's barely playable in her own centered game and is mostly there to give some comic relief with Apollo I'd also flat out call her incompetent as a lawyer but that's an entirely different topic.

I think it's a bit of a different situation here.
Yeah Trucy was Apollo's original partner but Athena was his partner for significantly more time. So they have a closer dynamic.

uhm... I know im a bit late but, happy christmas/new year everyone!
From what I've read in the last few pages of this thread, nothing important has happened.
I don't know about the newcomer thread because I dont feel like reading +100 pages but I guess its kinda the same.

Not gonna type everything, but I'll quote myself and Curious Villager Curious Villager for a second:

So its finally time...

Also apparently you can pre purchase fighter 5 now, so... shadow drop, maybe?

Perhaps we will be hearing about the first post pass fighter too.

We're getting close, how exciting!
Maybe, but they're not there for no reason, this isn't like the supposed Metroid Prime Trilogy leak that happened a while back.

So what if the SKUs have been there for months and supposedly won't be used? Tempering expectations is one thing, but the deadline for the fighter pass deal is the end of next month, so they can't afford to lag much longer.

Also, we'll hear something from PlatinumGames, at the very least:

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2020/01/expect_big_news_from_a_full_speed_platinumgames_this_year

Now this here might be actual evidence.
Also:

I think this would be an ideal time to use court logic.

it's missing something for that

there, now it sucks.
when did athena get a central game?
Like, there's no Athena Cykes: Ace Attorney, but Dual Destinies is pretty central to her character, just like Spirit of Justice is pretty central to Apollo despite that his name isn't in the title.

I mean, one could very easily argue that Phoenix is also a "terrible lawyer," given the proper strictness of standards. Like, I haven't replayed Dual Destinies in years, so I'm pretty hazy on Athena's performances, but if cross-examining a parrot and fairly frequently relying on deus-ex-machina last-minute saves is consistent with "good lawyer" standards in the context in which we're talking, I feel like attempting to have a conversation under the assumption that there even are a set of clear standards on what makes a lawyer good in the AA universe is pretty futile.

(Also, I feel like if "not being the player character in a game about you" is enough to make you a "sidekick," then Chrom in Fire Emblem: Awakening is a sidekick, and that's... emphatically not true).

I dunno man, while by all intents and purposes Phoenix is a rookie and very prone to nonsense in his own trilogy (which is kind of why I don't really like seeing him be playable anymore when he feels as much of a newbie as over a decade ago despite that he's supposed to be a veteran by this point), we don't see him suffer emotional breakdowns in every case he takes the defense stand on and requires on everyone cheering him up to get anywhere. He needs help from the likes of Mia and Edgeworth a lot, and hell, he does have moments where he feels like all hope is lost for his client, but (besides that I think older games handled the magic to turn the case upside down better) he at the very least still feels capable to keep some degree of mental stability to keep doing his job (even if this meant saying he had no further objections), which I absolutely don't think Athena does if the 2.5 cases where she takes the leading role are anything to go by. Some might find that compelling, but I think it comes out as a sloppy and tiring attempt to give a character "a flaw".
And when Athena is mostly doing supportive roles through investigations and popping up the mood matrix every now and then for Phoenix or Apollo, not too differently from how Maya channels Mia or how Kay activates the little thief, I don't think it's untrue to say she fits this sidekick criteria as much if not more than her lawyer one. It doesn't help that her only playable case in SoJ might as well be a complete afterthought thrown around so she actually had a playable case and reached the now seemingly mandatory 5 cases minimum per game, and it might also be the most pointless case in the entire franchise.
It's not even that I dislike Athena as a character, but I hate how she's generally handled in the courtroom, and after SoJ, I can't say I look forward to whatever the hell they plan to do with her if she doesn't pull a Maya or AA7 is centered around an entirely new cast of characters.

Like, there's no Athena Cykes: Ace Attorney, but Dual Destinies is pretty central to her character, just like Spirit of Justice is pretty central to Apollo despite that his name isn't in the title.
true, but they werent trying to make her the main character to be fair

Hello everyone :)
I'm back from my Smash speculation break, since the next Nintendo Direct seems imminant.
I've been playing through the Ace Attorney series since last month, and I'm already at Edgeworth Investigations 2 O_O
It's been an amazing experience so far, the Phoenix Wright Trilogy was just awesome, and Edgeworth Investigations was a nice change of pace :)
The music in that game reminds me sooooo much of Pokemon Ranger music, it gives me lottsa nostalgia so I appreciate it :D
I admit I kinda miss the court atm, but I'm close to getting into Apollo Justice, so I'm very excited :D
Playing with a laggy emulator is kind of a pain, but I can live through it imo
However I guess I'll have to pay to play the last two Ace Attorney games on the 3DS, but I'm not close to that just yet lmao
Anyways, I now REALLY hope Phoenix get's in Smash now that I know him better, and I'm already thinking about ALLLLL the cameos Sakurai's gonna put on his stage :'D AND THE MUSIC ESPECIALLY
(PS : Gumshoe is just the best it I love him he doesn't deserve any slander, it makes me sad since I heard he doesn't appear in any game after Edgeworth Investigations :( I hope me finishing up the Ace Attorney series will summon Ace Attorney 7 lol)
