And you have definitive proof of Knuckles being in it rather than sonic? Sounds interesting, I'd like to see this proof.
He said it was a lie IN his post. Please pay attention.

What Megaman would you have, McFox? Original? X? Exe?
The original, of course.

Sonic is a definite, but maybe we could have NIGHTS, AiAi from Super Monkey Ball or even Billy Hatcher. Billy Hatcher is yet a Nintendo exclusive game.
Sonic is not a definite.

Billy Hatcher sucks. He's a Nintendo exclusive because no one bought the game, and they would've lost money trying to port it to other consoles because no one would've bought it there either.

He will not be in.

I would have to say that Shadow would have a better chance then Tails. Hes newer, darker and more battle mature then tails. The only good thing I see with tails is the whole flying thing...and they could do that with Shadow's boots.
You're correct in that Shadow could be made to not be a clone, but your wrong that he has a better chance. If Nintendo's going to try and go cross-company with character inclusions, they're going to bring in characters that have some history. Shadow is way too new. Gamers who actually played old games on their systems and not on emulators can remember a time when Tails didn't suck. And Shadow's game sucked.

LuCKy said:
duh there gonna put shadow because shadow is a lot more popular right now.
I'm sorry, what scientific study did you do that determined this?

Oh right, you made it up.

Like I said before, real gamers who grew up playing games when games really kicked *** can remember how cool Tails used to be. Tails would be so much better an addition to Smash than Shadow could ever be.

Even if they're not clones, do I want to play as TWO hedgehogs? No.

"But one is black and he has air boots?"

So the hell what? If they're going to be pulling characters from other companies, I want some variety, dammit.

Without a chaos emerald and his air shoes, Shadow is a just sissy black hedgie. I say put Amy Rose cuz she is cute and will annoy many people to death :chuckle: .

BTW, the Shadow the hedgehog game sucks TEN more times than Tails Adventure. And Im compairing a GC/PS2/XBOX game to a Game Gear game.
1)The fact that you actually think that shadow needs the Chaos Emerald any more to do the moves, obvious shows that you know nothing about the production and evolution of the personality of Shadow the Hedgehog. If you had kept up to date with the newest Shadow game, then you would have a clue, but it's pretty apparent that you have no idea. Also, by your logic, that would mean that Sonic is a sissy Blue Hedgehog.

2)Amy Rose is not a good idea, personally. Most people seem to hate her. I do agree that she is VERY annoying.

3)I have no opinion on these arguement simply because I have not played the Tails Adventure before. Whether you are right or not, I would not be able to tell you.

xianfeng said:
Tails is more well known and more original, Shadow is just a black Sonic. you could say that Luigi has a want to help you mario personality yet he's still more popular than Bowser or Wario
1)To an older audience, I would definatly agree, to a point. It would depend on whether these individuals followed the enitre Sonic serious or not. If they have, then a lot more of an audience would know Shadow since the newer, or younger, audience would see Shadow a lot more, and not Tails as much. In the Newer Sonic games, Tails takes a far lower role in the adventure. Shadow is a massive part of all the new games. In fact, they mind as well be exactly about Shadow.

2)No, Luigi does not have a "help Mario" personality. He has his own personality and That is why Shadow is not just a black Sonic. Shadow and Luigi have a Unique personality. Luigi is not more popular than Wario, and definitly not Bowser. Bowser was made a very popular character when Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. When that came out... Bowser was a huge hit. Wario is just funny. I can see Luigi more popular than Wario, and your probably right. However, Wario is a very funny character, and is usually a joke (aka SSBB Fart special :) ).

If we had to choose I would choose Tails. Not only is he better than Shadow but Shadow. What a wimp, Sonic has to run, but he uses roller skates... I mean, air shoes... whatever. I don't give a **** about what Tails does in his games, he has great potential, and is a genius. When pute fully into it, Tails will go circles around Shadow. Brains usually triumphs over brawn.
1)Grammer.

2)They're Rocket Boots. You obviously know a lot.

3)No, he doesn't have great potential and that is the problem. Shadow has a much larger potential than Tails easily.

4)Um... Shadow is faster than Tails is, so "running circles" around him, isn't going to happen. As for Tails "Brains" Vs. Shadow's "Brawn," your forgeting that Shadow is clever. So he has Brains too. Nice try though. So that makes Tails "Brains" Vs. Shadow's "Brawn" and "cleverness."

1. I think they would only bring Shadow/Tails as a second Sonic character . . . not because of another game they have been in.

2. Shadow is also pretty popular( Popular enuff ot get his on recent game at least) and seems better suited for this game imo.

3. . . . They are both very well known. Anyone that knows about sonic knows both of these characters.

4. A character that moves around on "air boots" with chaos power is less original then a character that flys with it's twin tails? I have seen both "air boots" and tail flying many times. . . but not the chaos powers.
1)True, but the games they have been in plus the popularity of the character would be major factors.

2)Agree.

3)Agrees mostly. See above.

4)Agree.

1)A guy in a Rooster costume weilding eggs.... I agree.

2) Incorrect. Shadow does have a history, but you are right that his history is not as dragged out as Tails is.

3)I was one of those "real gamers who grew up playing games when games really kicked ***," in fact I have played just about every sonic game. Tails wasn't honestly cool then, and when they gave him speech, I never wanted him to open his mouth again. It was like Satan had opened a portal into the world through Tail's mouth. For a genius, he acted like an idiot. No, he would be a terrible addition.

4)Did you play as Fox and Falco? Did you play as Ganondorf and C. Falcon? Did you play as Link and Y. Link? Did you play as Mario and Dr. Mario? Did you play Marth and Roy? Did you play as Pikachu and Pichu? I think we all know the answer to the questions.

5)"But one is black and he has [Rocket] boots?" Another person that doesn't seem to know much about Shadow. At least, if that is all you can come up with for differences.

6)There is variability, it's just that you don't want to see it.

P.S. Not going to Bash Knuckles because he could be a good addition. Better than Tails anyways.

I was talking about asthetically. I also don't care at all about Dr. Mario and Pichu, no matter their differences from their counterpart characters, because they look so similar. I want a bunch of different characters.

To someone who doesn't know much about sonic or play sonic games they will easily recognise tails but they will confuse shadow with sonic as he is so similar

Understandable.

Your not understandable. No actually they wont. First of all, Sonic is an average blue, but Shadow is Black with red highlights. Unless the person is color blind, then they can't mix them up. On top of that, this isn't even about the people that don't play Sonic games regularly, and if this is true, then they wont care who Tails or Shadow is! So you can rule out that arguement now. Now, for those that do play the game a lot more, and are used to the Sonic games. If you actually pay attention to the actually character models, you will notice that Sonic's Hair is much more condensed and is pulled downwards, but Shadow's hair is set into spines, and is pulled upwards (ignoring the fact that once more, Shadow has Red highlights).

Also, at the Character select screen, each Characters name is, not only listed under them, but is also yelled out when you select the character. Now, unless this players is now color blind, retarted, deaf, and illiterate, I'm pretty sure they are going to know which is which character each one is.

they are just alternate colours and shadow's hair is the otherway around at fist look if the pictures were in black and white they would be easily confused

now they can be easily distinguished

If Shadow was in there which he won't people who don't play sonic will say who, if they see sonic he will be recognised and if they see tails they think oh it's that tag along dude and he will be more recognised

xianfeng,I think people can tell the difference between Sonic and Shadow. And if you don't play alot of Sonic games you wouldn't even care who Tails is(I have only played the first Sonic game and never got another...I still don't like Tails alot and I can tell the difference between Shadow/Sonic.)

I would perfer Knucks to Tails...hes right up there with Shadow in my book.(They would have to dress him up some cause he looks a lil plain.)

They're not going to add more than 1-2 more third party characters (check SamuriPanda's Translation topic for my source). This means that only third-party characters (Master Chief and Kratos are gone as they are first party characters for Microsoft and Sony) that have appeared on a Nintendo console (that rules out Jak/Daxter, Sly Cooper, Ratchet/Clank, and Spyro), stared in their own game/series (Sorry Tails, as much as I want you in...not going to happen), are just as popular as Mario (Oops, there goes Crash Bandicoot), and have enough variable moves to be able to compete in the Smash universe (so much for Leon Kennedy)? If you can, then please share as the only ones that even have a chance of making it in the game are the ones that meet ALL of those circumstances. The only ones that come to MOST people's minds (including mine) are Conker, Banjo/Kazooie, Sonic, and Megaman. Conker and Banjo/Kazooie would each be EXCELLENT additions to the game, but they are owned by Rare who, in turn, is owned by Microsoft so that eliminates them almost instantly as Microsoft wants to see Nintendo fail. Sonic and Megaman are garuneteed slots as they have just as much history in gaming as Mario, Link, and Fox and are really the BEST choices for those last slots.

However, in the .5% off-chance they do add a secondary character...Tails by a landslide. Shadow is pathetic, plain and simple. Shadow was created much in the same light as Waluigi was...as a filler character that they hoped would branch into his own games. Take away his mysterious back story and he's nothing more than a black Sonic clone. He can't run near as fast as Sonic (hence the shoes he wears.) That's as far as I'm going to go in terms of "hatin" on Shadow. I don't really know, nor care to learn, much about the newer Sonic characters as I don't really consider them Sonic characters. The closest I'll ever come to claiming they're Sonic characters is admitting they live in the same universe as him...nothing more. Sonic, Tails, Robotnik, and Knuckles are the only true Sonic characters, in my own opinion of course.

Tails, on the other hand, has several things that make him unique. The best reason is that he has more history with Sonic and more fas will recognize him than they would Shadow. His two tails are the most obvious thing that sets him apart from Sonic. They allow him to fly; something Sonic can't do. His tails alone give him several ways to avoid being a Sonic clone. For the game, Sonic could use a spring as his Up + B where as Tails could simply fly up. He looks nothing like Sonic so the two would never be mixed up. Throw into the mix that he is a mechanical genius on a higher level than Robotnik, and you got an original character. I can think of two different movesets for the two (Sonic focusing on his speed while Tails on his genius) and the only move I can see them having in common is the Spindash, but that makes sense as Sonic taught it to Tails so it shows the connection between them as best friends.

To sum up what I said for those who hate to read...which is a slowly increasing number of people (what a shame...) Tails > Shadow. Tails will be in the Smash games before Shadow, but neither will be in Brawl. (The last sentence is not an opinion, it's a fact.)

Ferro, once again, you made a mistake. Tails has had two games under his belt. One may have sucked, but the other was extremely well made and fun. Did you even read my other post.

Now, most characters have moves based off their own games. I can see a lot of potential for both Tails and Shadow as their moves in their own respective games and very easy to work with. Shadow has more basic moves and abilities than Tails, but Tails has had more overall power-ups and extras. Tails' Adventure had many items that varied more than enough to give multiple moves to Tails. Shadow The Hedgehog had almost all of Shadow's abilities in it except a couple of Sonic Battle moves.

Overall, Tails is easier to work with. And his style does seem to be a bit more original for completely different characters. Also keep in mind that Tails was also a clone of Sonic when he first appeared. Shadow was quite different when he first appeared, to an extent. Tails had two differences in Sonic The Hedgehog 2: 1, he couldn't go "Super". And 2, he had a different sprite.

Shadow had more differences, and his new game defined him even more than Tails' two games did. Character-wise, Shadow has more story, but Tails has more abilities. Either way, I wouldn't care which as they're both original characters with a different style of play. If one of these secondary characters make it, it's up to Sakurai and his team before anything. I'm sure neither of 'em would dissapoint.

Man, you speak words of wisdom. And I did read everything! I would rather have a 3rd party main character that I don't like (Snake?), over 3rd party secondary characters.

I DID played the whole thing, I just said that it bored me to death. And I think I recall Shadow always has to carry a Chaos Emerald to do Chaos Control. In "Shadow the hedgehog", he needed to grab the first Chaos Emerald to do all his Chaos stuff.

FINAL STATEMENT:
-Sonic=cool blue hedgehog
-Shadow=badass black hedgehog
-Original hedgehog beats fake hedgehog :chuckle: .

In hell.
They should just but shadow as a special character in sonics place.

Like this.

You get sonic and beat a few stages which require you to beat to unlock shadow as a character but to reach him you pick him as a costume and he has diffrent sets of moves. Thus, allowing you to choose shadow through a costume if wanted but you have to unlock him first.

Which this gives me some ideas but I don't know if this would be actually decent...they should've done this with SSBM with Dr. Mario and Pichu.

Basically you're getting 2 diffrent characters in 1. Megaman would be awsome.

I'll say this though...

Knuckles with his cowboy hat and i'll love this game and could care less if shadow OR sonic or anyone else new were in there.

How many times must I say this? He's 8 years old! I have YET to meet an 8-year-old with a deep voice. -_-

Knuckles would be the logical choice, since he is built to be a fighter, but that's not one of the choices for this thread (not that I would vote for him anyway).

Between Shadow and Tails... Tails, Tails, Miles, Tails. Granted, Shadow does have a few tricks to make my seperate from Sonic, but not enough to keep him out of the "clone" category. If Shadow isn't given his own character, than I would say make him a Sonic costume.

So in the end, even if Knuckles were an option, I'd root for the young fox. Prower for SSBB (if Sonic gets in, of course).

Honestly though, I could see Sakurai making Sonic as a 3-characters-in-one char. Similar to Sonic Heroes, you'd be able to switch between Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails, as if you were transforming into Shiek with Zelda. Or perhaps, some attacks would belong to each, i.e. B^ = Tails flying, B> = Knuckles' glide, Bv = Sonic's dash, etc.

I'd totally love that format, and it may not break his 1-2 3rd party char rule as they'd be 1 playable.

If sonic IS in the game (And i'm not saying he is) then his moveset would be like this

B: Sonic wind
Down & B: Bounce (Bounce bracelet from SA2B)
Smash B: Spindash
Up B: Chaos control

Grab: Magic gloves (player remains in sonic hands in the sphere (check google for magic gloves, Sonic adventure 2 battle) until sonic throws, lets go or player escapes, sonic can't move whilst)

He'd probably be faster than capt. falcon, or maybe a bit slower.

I hope he's in the game *prays*

Ok, before I start... This moveset is designed with things I know about Tails in mind. There may be other possabilities, but these are the ones I know. My moveset is focusing around Tails' mechanical genius status.

ASSUME that Tails has invented a new machine to be used SPECIFICALLY for Brawl called the Automatic Reflex Reader and Offensive Wrestling System (ARROWS.) This machine is located on both wrists and appears to be a braclet of some kind. I'm bad with acronyms, so just work with it...ok.

B moves:
B - Net Launcher - ARROWS launchs a net at the opponent and ties them up for a few seconds. Similar effect to Jiggy's singing or a Mr. Freezie in the sense that it renders the opponent open for all attacks.

B + Down - Spin Dash - If you don't know what the Spin Dash is, then get off of this site NOW! The only move that Tails and Sonic have in common.

B Smash - Taser - ARROWS causes a mild-strong charge of electricity to vault through the target's body. It would have a throwback (and attack range) similar to Ness' bat.

B + Up - Tail Copter - Same concept as the Spin Dash...if you have to ask, then beat it! Anyone caught in the way would get hit with his tails.

Stationary A moves:
A - Front kick - Just a kick...in the front...nothing else.

A + Down - Tail Trip - Tails curls into a small ball (break dancer-like ball) and spins around rapidly with his tails extended harming anyone who gets in the way.

Smash A - Upper Front Kick - Tails basically falls back on his tails and sits on them like a chair and uses both legs to deliver a powerful frontal kick.

A + Up - Uppercut - ARROWS encompasses Tails' entire hand for a second while he delivers an uppercut to the opponent's face.

Running A:
A - Tail Slap - Tails quickly turns and double-slaps the opponent with his tails.

Air moves:
N-air - Tail Twirl - He spins around with his tails extended hitting anyone in his way.

I came up with a big fat blank for any air moves other than his nuetral...but it is 4:30 am here, so I'm not going to worry about it.

Misc:
Grab - Grappling Hook - A crab-claw extends from ARROWS and hooks onto anyone in thw way. It's range is equal to that of Samus and Link's.

Taunt - Tails pushes a button on ARROWS and a chillidog materializes at his feet. He then picks up the chillidog, eats it, and uses the plate as a projectile (creating the second offensive taunt in the game.)

Super - Tails pushes a big red button on ARROWS. ARROWS engulfs both of Tails' arms and a big plasma gun is created around them. When Tails uses the gun, a big beam of pure heat is launched across the screen as a group attack (like Mario's.)

Now, this is a hypothetical situation as Tails will not be in Brawl as a playable character, but this IS just the stuff I thought of off the top of my head. Imagine what someone who knows everything that Tails can do would be able to think up...

I'll just put it this way:

Sonic= Can kill things by running really fast into them.

Tails= Can fly by hovering his tail rapidly.

So maybe Tail since he seems to have a tatical advantage e.g flight.

But still the chances of Nintendo putting a Sega character into the game is very slim.

Look I don't know if any of you guys ever played Sonic Battle on the GBA but Shadow is a god in that game and the controls are very similar to smash. If they put that Shadow in Brawl he would own everyone bottom line

what if two people want to be shadow they can't that's where your plan falls down
Forgot about that.

Well, I just prefer it like this:

1.Sonic
2.Shadow/Tails
3.Knuckles/Megaman

This is how I see the 3 extra characters.

It's still fine if it atleast has sonic i'll be fine. I just don't like tails. He isn't really a fighter, most of his moves would either be chunking something mechanic or using a machine.

I would like it better with knuckles over shadow though.

Same here. I don't care enuff about them to get upset if they are not in. . .aslong as sonic makes it. (But I would be cool to have knucks.)

I think if any shadow would be best to come in along with Sonic since shadow is the coolest sharacter to exist!!!
You know how in sonic games whenever you jump there is that really annoying , boink, sound. If any sonic character possibly make it into SSBB i really hope they dont put in that noise.

Sounds good so far...

B moves:
B - Net Launcher - ARROWS launchs a net at the opponent and ties them up for a few seconds. Similar effect to Jiggy's singing or a Mr. Freezie in the sense that it renders the opponent open for all attacks.
I like, to a point. The problem is, what about characters off the edge? If Jiggly Jumps off to put them to sleep, then she goes bye bye. For Tails, if he can get them off the edge, it's over bc he just hits them with this baby, and they fall to their doom. If it had some kind of charge up to send it farther I'd be more likely to accept it, but the idea is kind of broken.

Agreed. If you don't know what a spin dash is, the get out now. You don't belong here. If Tails and Sonic make it in, then this move had better be on both of them. It's a classic.

I like this idea too. Will it have a charge up though?

No arguements there. What happened to the B-v move though? It's harder to think of things for Tails, personally since I have not played Tail Advnture yet, and I am basing my thoughts off of Sonic battle. Tails didn't have much in it.

Good. We need a few more distance grabbers. If he does make it in over Shadow (Which he'd better not XD), then at least he'd have a good start.

This is because he was severly over powered, and I enjoyed every minute of my favorite character crushing them lol.

METAL SONIC FOR BRAWL!!!!!!
No. He has made almost no true contributions to the modern games (and a lot of the loder ones). He was there. Congradulations. The real exceptiong would be Sonic Heroes which, although an original idea, wasn't that great.

My list is:
1)Sonic (the door to the Sega franchise, he has to be first)
2)Shadow (the Anti Sonic, with a bad *** attitude and very powerful)
3)Knuckles/Tails (Either would be perfectly fine)
4)Just about any oher sonic Character.

(Weird if Rouge made it in and the others didn't lol)

Sorry it was so long, I had a lot to cover.

M2 already has a similar move that can affect people in the air, and counts as a projectile. What it does, though, is it puts the target into the tumble animation. They can still jump, but they can't airdodge.

These suggestions are poppycock. What Smash needs is a heaping helping of Bean the Dynamite.

Seriously though, I belive Tails would be a more effective character choice than Shadow. I'm not saying I don't want Shadow (but I won't whine if he's not in it), but Tails, I belive, has more potential and would just appeal more.

Oh, and in response to Tails only having 2 games...

Like I said before, real gamers who grew up playing games when games really kicked *** can remember how cool Tails used to be..
ah the good old days, though shadow used to be cool too. When he starred in sonic adventure 2 he was badass...then he got his own game, which tried to make him more badass by making him use guns and swords. This just made him look ridiculous and made his image horrible. Not to mention him getting his own comic, and sega just trying to put him in everything really killed him. Though this conversation is pointless as everyone knows the last two slots is Sonic and Cyber Akuma.
