Also, as someone who wanted Wolf in the game, there's no way in hell I'm going to discredit effort and new, unique characters added to the roster. Brawl didn't have Mewtwo and that didn't make it a bad game, which was still full of new and creative characters.

Even more ideal would be having all veterans back, because why the hell not? However, you can't have everything you want.

Corrin is a questionable choice, but I think Sakurai's point to add him was clear: he does offer something no one else in the roster does. Whether you agree or not is an opinion.

By themselves, character additions aren't good or bad. People just perceive them as good or bad, according to their own tastes. Likewise, Sakurai has his own opinions in which characters are added to the roster. If it were someone else doing the roster, things would have turned out differently, though neither better nor worse.


Radiant Dawn has multiple story parts. Ike is important later on, though Micaiah is focus for the first story arc.

Towards the end, both Micaiah and Ike are the central characters.

I'm gonna play devil's advocate on this and say that I don't get Sakurai's logic of Roy being "THE cut Melee rep".

were both cut Melee reps too, and Sakurai did actually mention that he made Dr. Mario a fully fledged character rather than a costume because he knew some people liked how Dr. Mario was in Melee and he would be even more different this time since Mario uses FLUDD now. He said he also knew that the black colour alt was popular specifically due to it making Mario look like some black market dealer.

I actually don't personally care either way, I like playing as Roy a lot in this game though I otherwise have no attachment to him. But I don't get his logic of Roy specifically being the cut Melee rep when we actually got two others (one was also DLC, and one was specifically done as Melee fan service).

If it was me, I would have kept Dr. Mario an alt (and just included the black coat one too), and brought back Wolf. I know that's not realistic since Dr. Mario was a last minute thing, but you know, just to satisfy people who are obsessive over slots I guess. 2 cut Melee reps, 2 cut Brawl reps, as DLC. Would have made sense to me. Instead we have 3 cut Melee reps and 1 Brawl rep.

Yeah it doesn't make sense, but for whatever reason, he considers Mewtwo in a league of his own compared to Roy in terms of being a Melee vet

Sakurai specifically pointed out that Roy came back/ made his return from Melee as vet (like he did with Lucas), while Mewtwo was regarded as a fan favourite character, like he was a requested newcomer.

Basically Sakurai stuff.

All I'm saying is that was something that Sakurai didn't need to do.

I'm the only one that think that some affinity missions should be a part of the story mode. It a little off putting to keep doing them so I can continue the story mode.

and don't help progress the story at all. They just flesh out some of the characters a bit more.

I don't think Corrin is as unique as people make him out to be. Overall, the dragon thing is an aesthetic and doesn't actually offer much in terms of how it functions.

The only thing that's wholly unique about Corrin gameplay wise is the side special that sticks into things and that he can react out of in different ways. His B-air is also kinda unique but still not totally, as R.O.B and Pac-Man also can do something similar.

Other than that he has a charging projectile, a counter, Marth's Up-air, etc. Definitely not wholly unique.

I thought he was more unique at first but after analysing him he definitely isn't. People are just caught up in the fact that he turns into a dragon for some things.

He still looks fun and I will get him, and I don't care that he is in he game nor am I salty, but people are overrating how unique he is.

Bayonetta is the real unique one of the two. Corrin is more just a hodge podge of quirky things from other characters with one or two things of his own, and everything looks unique aesthetic wise only.

I mean it's such a let down that the one move where he turns totally into a dragon, is a counter.

Oh and his Final Smash but it's still just a "cinematic" type Final Smash so functionally it's basically Mega Man's/Captain Falcon's.
