Lucina being iconic to Fire Emblem means she's iconic to most o the Nintendo fanbase, so she fits in very well in a game that is mainly a Nintendo crossover game, I'd say she and Dixie are about on the same level of iconic-ness, easily recognisable to Nintendo fans, but not necessarily the gaming pulic as a whole.

On the subject of who we want the most for Pokken at the moment, my most wanted at the moment is Gallade, largely because he's my favorite Pokemon. As for his credentials, he's popular, has a unique fighting style, and received a Mega in the latest Pokemon series games, so I think his chances are quite decent.

Gardevoir seems to be his major obstacle in the way at the moment, yet it's because of Gardevoir I'm noticing why Gallade is becoming one of the most requested Pokemon for Pokken (at least, that's what I notice on every wish list that has Gallade on it). Sceptile might use some of Gallade's fighting style already, but I feel like Gallade would really emphasize those arm blades far more than Sceptile would (considering Sceptile's moveset largely emphasizes his grass type overall with the wide variety of fighting styles) to the point that Gallade would be the Talim of the Pokken roster.

If Gallade won't make it in, the other Pokemon I'm really interested in seeing are:

• Greninja: My 2nd favorite Pokemon, and its pretty much the best candidate for the first generation 6 rep on the roster for obvious, not to mention it could have a very ninja-esque moveset
• Swampert: My 5th favorite Pokemon, and an inevitable inclusion now that we have two of the Hoenn starter trio represented. It can have a moveset revolving around mud attacks and earthquakes.
• Salamence: One of my favorite Dragon-types, and a pretty popular one too (also has a Mega). With Dragonite already as a support Pokemon, I see Salamence as being the flying Dragon attacker in the roster using a lot of aerial attacks along with headbuting and biting. .
• Luxray: A rather dark-horse candidate, but it'd be cool to see a fighter that attacks in a wild fashion with biting, pouncing, and scratching similar to a lion along with some electric attacks added to the mix.
• Scizor: Favorite Johto Pokemon, and one I can understand its appeal and a strong candidate for the first bug-type rep.

I have a few other Pokemon that I want to see in Pokken, but those are the ones that I could think of at the moment.

I know you said that but even then she still isn't. A minority of Nintendo fans have played Awakening. Many only know her through Smash. She's known but she isn't plastered on everything and many Nintendo fans don't know who she is.

Lopunny is underwhelming because it's an anthropomorphic rabbit.
It's Mega certainly has the aura of someone meant for combat... but being made into a part fighting time can certainly be part of that.

I've just not heard a lot of praise over Lopunny as a Pokemon.

Heracross is just one of the bigger names of Gen II, being part of Ash's team probably helped with that.

With Blastoise?

The Kanto starters will ALWAYS be some of the most popular Pokemon.

And, especially in the west, Venusaur got tossed a bit to the side.

It's a big ass reptile with giant aqua cannons. AS KIDS THIS WAS THE COOLEST CRAP AND WE STILL LOVE IT.

I really haven't heard much praise for Heracross. It's mega is kind of underwhelming and I see it very rarely. And yeah, starter pokemon are usually the most popular of their gen. It doesn't mean others can't be just as popular, though. Not sure about you, but I'd take Lopunny over Blastoise any day, even if I do love Squirtle.

And Google doesn't mean anything. Lopunny's still popular, and Gardevoir's big 4/5 (Used Attract, Flash, Fan Art, Gallade, Trainer Kiss, Human) aren't much better yet she still got in.

You can't really say it's a "rule of cool.". I never saw what was so cool about any of the 3 Kanto starters until Squirtivysaur got into Smash.

Of course it's going to be like Wolf to Krystal, Lopunny's been around for only like 6 years while Blastoise has like 20. The fact Lopunny is so popular is an achievement in itself, I believe. Also, nobody really asked for Pikachu Libre yet he still got in. It's not all about what the pokemon is known for.

EDIT: Just to be sure, I know that Blastoise is popular. But Blastoise and Lopunny really don't have anything to do with each other. I just feel that Lopunny would be more unique because w/ Blastoise we'd have like at least 2 Water while Lopunny would be the first normal.
