Thats just lazy lmao. They are just alt colors.
And people think :4darkpit: is bad. lol
If it makes it any better, SNK flat out said the reason they made the Kyo clones playable is to have all of Kyo's movesets available to the player. (KYO-1 being KOF 94-95 Kyo, KYO-2 being KOF 96-97 Kyo, Kusanagi's the weird in-between and all 3 of them gain moves of their own for their final appearance)

They dropped the KYO-1/2 idea pretty quickly, while Kusanagi was just a one-game miniboss that got upgraded to playable for that one game.

Regarding Sonic, he doesn't have moves that are similar to other fighters because he was late into Brawl's development. If he did, he would have been changed up more in Smash 4.

A lot of the more generic punches and kicks Sonic has are moves from Sonic the Fighters and Sonic Battle. Forward Tilt and Forward Smash are from Sonic the Fighters for example. He also has a move similar to D-air in Sonic Battle.

If anything, the Smash characters copied his moves.

Ironically enough, Sonic's original Dsmash was changed to that of Fox and Falco

The abundance of similar moves among characters in Smash (and fighting games overall) is because those moves are actually inspired by martial arts.

Here's another example of that: Toon Link's back throw and Ryu's back throw are the same thing. As far as I recall, it's actually a judo technique.

Do realize that the majority of the most famous fighting games are developed in Japan: not just Smash Bros., but also titles such as Street Fighter, Tekken, Virtua Fighter, The King of Fighters, Guilty Gear, SoulCalibur, BlazBlue, Capcom Vs., Dead or Alive, among others.

The only Western-developed fighting games I can remember that have this kind of fame are Killer Instinct and Mortal Kombat.

Well, back to Japan, you do know that many martial arts originate from either Japan or nearby countries such as Korea and China. Karate, judo, jiu jitsu, kendo, kung fu, taekwondo are all examples of martial arts originating in Asia, which naturally are more ingrained in their culture and that reflects on the design of the fighting games mentioned above.

Of course, there is some western influence in those games as well with styles such as boxing, which is seen in characters such as Dudley, Balrog and Little Mac.

Here's a short list of moves shared by multiple characters, be them cloned or not:
- Fox and Falco's dash attacks, Falcon Kick and Wizard's Foot on the ground
- Mario, Dr. Mario, Luigi, Kirby, Falcon, Ganondorf all share the same up aerial, Fox and Falco's up Smash is a similar, if not identical, kick
- Mario, Dr. Mario and Ganondorf share the same forward aerial
- Mario, Dr. Mario, Luigi, Fox, Jigglypuff, Mii Brawler, Link and Sheik all share the same neutral aerial
- Samus, Captain Falcon and Ganondorf's up tilts are the same kind of kick (an ax kick, IIRC)
- Link, Captain Falcon, Mii Brawler and Ganondorf's back throws are similar as well

So yeah, a lot of those moves are actually original to Smash (for their characters), but are all inspired by martial arts, so they don't really come out of nowhere.

It bears saying that this is just a small list. There are plenty of more similar cases.

Seems like something that'd make for a good article on SourceGaming.

I think most people already realise a lot of the moves are martial arts moves, especially since the game started off as a game with generic martial arts characters.

And in some cases it makes a lot of sense. Fox, Falco, and Wolf make sense to have martial arts moves, since they are mercenaries so you'd expect them to have some. Similarly, Captain Falcon and Samus are bounty hunters. And of course Snake had the CQC techniques that were passed down from Big Boss, who originally got them from The Boss.

Also in Sonic Battle, Sonic's fighting style is described as a mixture of martial arts and break dancing techniques.

and the swordsmen use swordsmanship in its own right is a martial art

Talking about Sonic Battle made me nostalgic for the game.

I remember how Tails was literally the S-tier character (Emerl doesn't count since he's intentionally broken).

>No OHKO moves
>Tails only
>Tails' Lab

It blows my mind how much better the character designs are in Invisible than in Skull Girls. Almost every character they showed I would love to play as in an actual fighting game, while Skull Girls has literally 0. The designs in Skull Girls range from bland to all over the place to almost deceant but ruined by something stupid, the animations are also too chaotic and why the boobs everywhere, with this cartoony art style (which isnt even that bad itself). Its like if Looney Tunes was entirely composed of Jessica Rabbits, I dont want to fap to that, man! There are actually even background characters in the game I would rather play as, and funny enough some of them actualy became playable as DLC.

I have to say though, Invisible is a pretty terrible name, which also doesnt really seem to relate to what I saw of the game. Like, if it was a stealth game at least I could connect it somehow in my brain, and even then the name is too generic to remember on the spot, so I have to be constantly reminded what its called or what game the title refers too. Odd because Destiny doesnt have that problem, but Destiny is also pretty vague term for what you could do in a game, plus marketing has hammered that name into my brain forever.

EDIT: I am stooped, its Indivisible. Still a meh name but better.

As a native french speaker, I've always found the word "boob" and all its variants pretty ugly and vulgar. :ohwell:

Especially to designate something so precious, delicate and lovely than a female chest.

(My image should have taken a hit there...)

Look at Smash, compare the boobs. This is almost DOA, but at least DOA looks like real people.
ok
let me preface this by saying "sorry, push"
among the major female characters (the 11 playables, marie, and umbrella), there are 4 with "significant boobage" - cerebella, parasoul, valentine, and eliza (and she splits in half in her super, so it crosses over to fan disservice)
i personally haven't played skullgirls because i don't have a gamepad and fighting games are generally not my thing, but i really love the animations, character uniqueness, and references to like, everything
the fanservice in it is much less of an impediment to my enjoyment than, say, kill la kill

also skullgirls is very much a tribute to darkstalkers and it's a loooot "worse"

Its a personal thing really. A lot of people like the look of the game, I just dont. I rather have Indivisible be a fighting game than Skull Girls because I like how it looks and I like fighting games more than turn based RPG's. Its all opinions.

oh of course
sorry if i made it sound like i was policing opinions or anything; that just felt like a somewhat unfair point of contention

i still need to play the indivisible demo

lol the dislikes.

The review was honestly fair. And he said pretty much what most PMD fans say "stick for the story, not the gameplay". Unless, of course, you're a fan of Roguelikes.

I always read that as Nobunga and expect a Pokemon Conquest reference

Big Hero 6 is a great movie.
It was fun, sad and real.
And I really want it to get a sequel
Pokemon Conquest is a crossover with Nobunaga's Conquest...

My mother liked it and she HATES superhero movies. Also didn't know Big Hero 6 was an actual thing before the movie

You do realise Smash blatantly increased the bust sizes of Peach, WFT, and Palutena, right?

I'd argue ZSS too but I think with her it's more that her outfits are propping her breasts into an unrealistic position for the sake of gratuitous fan service.

Smash isn't the best example of a high brow fighting game.

Would a good example be SFV with Chunner's beta chunners?

Actually, it is, Smash is pretty darn tame even with those slight breast adjustments you mentioned. Like, compare anyone from Smash to, say, Valentine, and see what I mean.

I love Ted, I really do. But he is no critic man, I dunno what the hell Gamexplain were thinking letting him do this.

Ted did this? Honestly, Ted's got a very...unique opinion. He thinks Rise of Lyric is an okay game yet he absolutely hates Earthbound. My respect for him also took a hit when he got angry about Europe getting Woolly World first

SFV in general upped the ante in the T&A department.

Notably with R.Mika and Laura.

Less so with Chun and Cammy.

Karin is the odd one out. (for now, since Ibuki is all but confirmed and I doubt they;ll do much for her in T&A)

The review was decent, other than the weird button complaint.

Gameplay was never PMD's strong point (at least imo) and he praised the story/characters and soundtrack. It's pretty much par on course with the rest of the PMDs (cept Gates).

That being said, I would've proffered if they got someone who is actually familiar with the series to make the review. Ted just seems really random lol

Wait, I misunderstood it then. D'oh.

It's because Ted's a pokemon fan. However, he felt really bitter with ORAS existing and gets annoyed at the thought of recording Gen III or IV for BrainScratch. In a perfect world, games have 2 reviewers, one who is a fan of the game and has familiarity, and one who's doing it for the first time

Mystery Dungeon games don't have good gameplay? My reasons to buy it just decreased if it really is "ignore the gameplay, play for the story"

They really, really aren't slight though.

I won't post every example but WFT increased by like, 2 to 3 bust sizes.

Not to mention the fact that this is an official promotional screenshot:

Yes Smash hasn't got jiggle physics but it's not really any different to other fighters like DOA in that it seems to specifically have a female character that covers most major "attractive" female archetype, and specifically exaggerates the proportions of iconic characters like Princess Peach.

It's potentially more eyebrow raising since Smash is meant to be for the family, while games like DOA aren't, and they aren't using really iconic characters either.
