Should is a strong word. You're not obligated to care. :D
AGDQ is video games done as fast as possible. It's a live speedrunning event.
This can often result in, by my opinion, artful execution in play. That is, utilizing intimate knowledge of a game's mechanics to pull of some pretty sick maneuvers.
Some games are really entertaining for it, some are less so, obviously. AGDQ tries to inform people and introduce them to new games and their communities.
Lastly, it's a huge charity driver, raising millions for things like Doctors Without Borders.

A majority of Etika's fans are about 13 iirc. Not every Kotaku article is absolutely horrendous. They have good articles every now and then. Hell, a few years ago I remember reading a Kamen Rider article there and it wasn't about politics, but advertising the new Gaim, while complementing the fruit motive for blending well with the 'historical warriors in armour' motive

Not every Kotaku article is bad but the vast majority are. However, that's unacceptable for an "official" gaming publication who actually get preview access, review copies, etc. They have an impact on the industry.

Similarly, not every Etika video is actually off base, though most don't have all of the facts. However, that is acceptable for a YouTube channel that actually doesn't have any impact on the industry, and who doesn't advertise himself as trying to report factual information.

He presents himself as a news source. His videos include news videos and reactions/bad comedy skits.

Backpedaling and saying "IM NOT A NEWS CHANNEL I JUST REPORT RUMORS GAIZ" whenever he's called out for spreading misinformation doesn't change anything.

If he doesn't want to be viewed as a news channel, maybe he should, I dunno, stop reporting news?

The fact that the news he's reporting isn't world news is completely irrelevant. He's doing a poor job of reporting the subject he centers his channel around.

Since you seem to like to use Kotaku as a comparison.....Kotaku mainly focuses on video games and social justice issues. So why does it matter that they lack any sort of journalistic integrity?

He doesn't report news though. If you think he does, you need to recap the definition of the word "report":

As someone who has written reports for college, I can tell you that Etika has never once made one. His videos are as far from formal as you can get (what formal news reporters do you know that report in their underwear?), and he doesn't present the facts in detail.

He doesn't "report" news. No, literally, he does not. He simply takes a look at news and gives his opinions on it. It's like, his channel is the equivalent to meeting your friend at work, and your friend excitedly starts gushing about some news article they read. They don't have all of the facts on hand but they are just giving you their gut reaction.

If you want Smash news, you go to Source Gaming or Nintendo's own sites or something like that. If you want something to chill out to or want to hear speculation and just watch someone get hyped over stuff, you watch Etika, or a GameXplain discussion.

Also I base my claim that a minority take him too seriously on the fact that, in all my time in Smash speculation and generally keeping up with gaming, I have never once met someone who said "this is gonna happen because Etika said it will".

I'd argue you're taking him more seriously than anyone I've encountered since you are so heavily demanding he change. If you don't like what he does that's fine, but I don't see why you would argue that he change. He has his audience. He has a niche that he fills. He shouldn't have to change that. He isn't hurting anybody or making a serious impact on anything, so why should he stop?

Stuff like accepting a run with a clearly shorter than usuall ETA or runs that would be very pertinent got rejected for no real reasons.

I mean, TTYD was expected to be rejected even with all the findings that happened, but still, I heard enough to say it doesn;t look good compared to the past years I watched....

And thus an organization decays. But, like Khoru said, it seems to have always been this way. Tri, Golden, Cosmo, everyone seems to have some complaint or some drama or inside story to share.
What is it, nepotism? Lack of management? Too much bureaucracy? Back door deals? Failures to communicate.
Perhaps they need some good 'ol fashion capitalistic (even NFPs have a place in capitalism!) competition.

The gist of it is that there are unavoidable death traps to shorten your runs, Red Star Rings are much harder to get without burning real cash on them, and tons of things in the game have been obnoxiously nerfed to make it less fun.

Least affected? Ma'am. I was deeply disturbed, please believe me. I said I grieved then, and I meant it.
