Camelot seems to have turned from a company that could push out a quality RPG/sports game on an annual basis (sometimes more than once a year) to a developer that poops out some meh Mario filler two or three times a gen. Look at their work up until like 2005.

Characters I want with little to no chance:

Snake, Simon - Blame Konami.
Crash - Currently in limbo, not highly requested.
Spyro - Unpopular in Japan, not highly requested in any region. And no, I don't think Nintendo cameos in a recent Skylanders game that hasn't been and likely won't be released in Japan helps his chances much, if at all.
Zael, Fiora, Melia, Reyn - Not highly requested, but at least they're first party.

Speaking of which, no one's made a Reyn support thread in A Distant Demon 's social forum.

And as of today, I now celebrate another year on this planet!

At least the Delta episode had a point (catch previous event exclusive), expanded the Pokemon lore and you couldn't miss it entirley. All X & Y's did was provide a couple a of battles and a failed attempt at a heart-warming orphan story. Heart-lukewarming if you will.

While it had the reward of getting to catching Broken Delta Dragon Rayquaza and Deoxys, I personally felt it wasn't that great leading up to it as well since you had to go through a series of fetch quest and a pretty forced final encounter with Team Magma/Aqua to get to them. Also, for me, I personally preferred Looker and Emma as characters much more then I did Zinnia, so I was able to go through their story easier then I did with her.

You know something, Awakening wasn't the first one to really break the fanbase, Radiant Dawn was, with how it basically made all the characters just stats sheets with a pretty skin colour, which made the fan base spilt into those who actually cared about the plot and supports of Fire Emblem, while others only cared about who had the best stats and nothing else.

I wouldn't say that's really the same actually since a lot of Radiant Dawn's complaints were more self contained and didn't leak into the reception or design of future games. It also lacked newer fans that came into conflict with older ones due to their preference to how it handled itself. Awakening's complaints have more of a notable base breaking factor since they did leak into future game (and got far worse) and added a large number of newer fans that butt heads with the older ones due to their preference for Awakening's design.
