I'm not really sure where I stand on Nintendo movies. On one hand, they feel completely unnecessary, and have the potential to stink. On the other hand, they could be good for expanding the company and/or its series.

You know, I heard this movie existed but didn't look into it. Really hoping for it to actually be good because I really liked AC before 3.

I'm already annoyed that it doesn't look like the source material, especially with the "animus". (Unless this is from a spinoff/something after 3)

I actually think Miyamoto should work on any animations Nintendo intends to make.

His "no story" thing and bad storytelling only really applies to games.

He worked on the Pikmin Shorts and the Star Fox anime and both turned out great (well I haven't watched the former myself but I've heard good things).

He's actually talked about how he kinda wants to do animation more than game development now.

I only ask that Yoshiaki Koizumi get to work on something related to Nintendo movies, since he has a background and education in film.

I can confirm that the Pikmin Shorts were good. I mean, okay, yeah, I'm a Pikmin fan, but I think that they hold up even if you aren't one, because they don't rely heavily on "Pikmin lore" or anything like that. They're mostly just about the the daily lives of individual Pikmin and the antics they get into.

Four words: Donkey Kong Country Movie

If Nintendo is really serious about using their IP for other mediums besides video games more often, I'd bet on an anime adaptation of Fire Emblem.

The series is getting a mobile title, has seen a rise in popularity over the past few years and is regarded as a major IP by Nintendo nowadays. A TV anime series would be a smart way of promoting the IP.

Also, according to this tweet, they're not looking towards live-action adaptations, but animation:

Considering that Nintendo does have ties with the anime industry and has collaborated with some well-known studios in promotional shorts (such as the recent Star Fox Zero short or those based on Kid Icarus: Uprising), seeing an anime adapted from one of their IPs in the near future is very likely.

In addition to recent collaborations, there's stuff like the F-Zero anime, the short-lived Fire Emblem OVA, the Kirby anime and, of course, the Pokémon anime.

I also suppose we should not rule out the possibility of Western-produced animated works... Donkey Kong Country comes to mind, as do some old cartoons based on Mario and Zelda. Though how much input they've had on them is anyone's guess.

One of my most favorite Nintendo movies is "Super Mario Bros.: Pīchi-hime Kyushutsu Dai Sakusen!" (Translation: "Super Mario Bros.: The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach!")

Sure, the ending sucks ass, but extremely impressive how close it is to the Mario games when you note that it was made before SMB3.
