Rowlet master race. Normally I stick with Water types as my starters though this time it's going to be different.

Didn't even play X/Y before because I was under the assumption that there would be a Z version that would be an enchanced X/Y like Crystal/Emerald/Platinum but I guess not. Gonna play X over the Summer during the wait for Sun and Moon.

Just get ORAS if you want the enhances experience.

It lacks some features from X/Y but also has a lot of improvements

WHY FOCUS ON SPEED INSTEAD OF HP AND ATTACK THOOOO
It can basically depend on your battle strategy. I do have a Timid Ampharos with me, and while Mega Ampharos may not be fast, it can still work alongside Tailwind with enough speed investment.

Sure, most slow Pokemon are better off relying on Trick Room, but even if your Pokemon's base speed is a mere 55, it could still become a speedy beast with the right moves or abilities.

Okay, I bought a TON of games for my New 3DS in order to keep me busy until the launch of Pokémon SM.

Hyrule Warriors: Legends
AA Trilogy
Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon
Pokémon X
Bravely Second: End Layer
EarthBound

And I do have some money left that I'll use to afford either Kirby: Planet Robobot or FE Fates.
Buy Fates
Conquest if you want gameplay, Birthright if you an awakening pleb want story
If youvstill have money, you cpuld buy both or Revelation instead if you like gimmicks and want answered questions
if you're focusing on its speed
Here's your problem

Go for Kirby. It's never a bad option

So many fan arts already it's amazing lol. Starter hype! They're all pretty cute. Evolutions though. And base stats maybe.
Or Hidden Abilities.

The more I see Rowlet the more I start to adore it.

I already loved i t when I first saw it. Definitely going with it for my starter when the games come out.

There was a problem fetching the tweet

Eh, I kinda hope My Nintendo isn't primarily for mobile stuff.

The initial pitch of it mentioned physical rewards like Club Nintendo, I want to see those back.

65 isn't exactly a slow speed value either. In fact, in the case of Huntail and Gorebyss, even though their base speed is a mere 52 (a value that Emboar has no problem outrunning), they actually want to have the speed EV investment if they want to take better advantage of Shell Smash and Swift Swim. This applies to Omastar as well, as it too gets Shell Smash and Swift Swim.

65 base speed is bad though
Those two examples can do it because they have ways to boost their speed, Emboar has no good options
His design also shows that he's supposed to be bulky, he gets Hammer Arm because he has nothing to lose from it and use the move to its fullest

Seperior and Emboar both have an awkward mix of the stats of being a sweeper and a tank and just kinda ends up as something undesierable.
Serperior at least can take the benefit from Contrary to become a sweeper via Leaf Storm.

Tepig's line... hit a trifecta of awkward stat + movepool spread for viability, a questionable design, and being THE THIRD FIRE/FIGHTING STARTER IN A ROW OUT OF 5.

Anything less than 90 is what I consider slow
On my end, it kind of comes down partially to the Pokemon's stat spread. Typically, anything with a base speed worse than 50 would not use a speed boosting nature, nor have any speed EV investment. Shedinja is one of the very few exceptions, but even then, it would use an attack boosting nature.

Of course, even the Pokemon with base speed values between 50 and 100 may not have any speed EV investment, depending on how they're utilized. In Abomasnow's case, it would want a speed hindering nature if it plans on mega evolving into Mega Abomasnow, as that would help it take advantage of Trick Room better.

Pokemon with base 100 speed or better almost always use speed boosting natures on my end. Slaking and Regigigas are one of the very few exceptions to that rule though.

Oh, I forgot the other reason I used Honedge/Doublade for Pokemon catching. I always hit with it due to its ability No Guard.

I just remembered that Eternal Flower Floette (AZ's Floette) still hasn't been officially released yet and we're on our way to Gen VII now.

I'm starting to wonder if we are getting it at all.

Welp... we now have our first YTP of Sun/Moon:
That was fast...
This was actually pretty funny.

The Poplio part and the Making my way downtown were pretty good. So was the DBZ reference.

The making my way downtown was especially funny considering GX pointed out how you do not seem to start out in the professor town, but rather the single beach house all the way in the south, and then have to walk up the long path to get there.
I was waiting to see this the moment after I saw Rowlet
Alright this was perfect.

Anyone talked about the possibility that Litten evolve into a fire/poison type. I mean it's covered in oil, which can possibly be use as a poison.

I highly doubt it. The oil is just explaining why it's hair is highly flammable

Well.
Now that the initial hype is a bit worked up, I'll post my opinions with the 5 new Pokemon we've seen in Gen VII.

Rowlett: I haven't caught the raw "cute" hype like the others. Actually starting dual type is a bit of a shock. It truly being a grass/flying and presumably for the full line makes me since over the mere thought of Ice Shard. The "Leafage" move... is one I'm very curious in how it's going to be put. It seems like Absorb as an analogue to ember and water gun seemed fine for special and vine whip was about on par.

Litten: (The True Choice) I truly hope that it gets more "emotional" in its evolutions. Presumably it DOES go hybrid, I truly hope Dark over Poison. Avoid that obvious quad weakness to ground and it has the hopes of become a bit greater of a potential version of Houndoom, a pokemon I've always liked but was never really in line to pick up for any game's team.

Popplio: Man. To me this is the least interesting water type yet. There's just nothing that grabs me in the design and honestly I'm just hoping they stray far from Fairy so that hopefully in the future we can see it done with something that fits... a bit more naturally, y'know? Slapping the fairy type onto Popplio would feel like it being on Mr. Mime. I'd far prefer something that HAS that kind of pixie-ish design have the typing.

Solgaleo: Ehn Apollomon's Better/10. Pretty much feels like "A Legendary Pyroar."

Lunaala: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHN. IT just feels like... a "busy" design that doesn't seem that interesting with me. Plus it's... basically a bat with a cosmic pattern in the underside of its wingspan that got crossbred with jewelry. I was REALLY hoping for some like killer looking slender rabbit creature to offset the Lion.

It's still possible. There is also the striking ressamblance between the marking in his face plus his eyes and the alchemical symbol for sulfur.

That being said, I can also easily see him by fire/dark.
popplio may be a water/fairy in his final evolution
Either that or maybe water/fighting, because is athletic and all.

several people have pointed out how it's forehead patterns, paired with it's eyes resemble the symbol for Sulfur (aka Brimstone)...

it's ties as a poison type could also be linked to that in addition to the flammable oils on it's fur...

From where I'm standing, Dark and Poison seem to be reasonable choices for it's second typing...Dark would be preferred since it first of all wouldn't be completely wrecked by ground types...and second, I just love Dark types...

:4greninja:'d by the same person I was replying to...didn't even think it was possible...

What if it's another loop like in Gen 6 which had grass fighting, fire psychic and water dark.

From a starting point of grass flying we get

Fire/rock
-Water/Water... wait
-water/grass (unlikley)
-Water/Fighting
-Water/Ground
-Water/Steel

Fire/Electric
-Water/Ground

Fire/Electric sounds ccol, even if just fodder for our lord and saviour earthquake. But it already takes double damage from El Diablo (Stealth Rock) anyway.

I think it could happen. It's a sweet combo, but the X4 to ground would suck.

For some reason, I won't be surprised if like they have with Pokémon Sage: Grass/Flying, Fire/Rock, Water/Fighting.

A double weakness/reistance triangle (I'm aware Gen VI also did this but not impossible.)

I could see it happening : as I already said, I think Popplio could be Fighting because of it's athletic theme and if you take Litten eyes, forehead symbol, ears and the tufts between them, you get the kanji for "obsidian" which, aside from the same colour than him (black), is a kind of rock.

YO IT'S CONFIRMED
Pretty sure Chrono. Chrono. posted it earlier so it's been talked about.

I mean it looks cool but there isn't much to say. It looks like another yet AA game. Not exactly the kind of game where we can speculate or gush about game mechanics since there aren't many to speak of.

...I do wonder though. The trailer presents the in-game models in a HD resolution. Most 3DS trailers and such just use in-game footage recorded from the system, and they look all jagged.

Makes me kinda want to see this game have a Wii U port too. The game looks really nice in HD.
