Also, the conspiracy hint at the end was pretty interesting as I remember someone commenting that General Pepper's command may have some shadiness to it that isn't really touched, and we may finally be able to see that with the game.

I believe in terms of posting about it here, that was me.

Miyamoto had a bunch of lengthy interviews about Star Fox: Zero with Youtubers after the last Nintendo Direct, and mentioned some ways in how the story is different. The main thing being some more morally grey elements to both Pepper and Andross.

This short obviously makes it clear that Andross' goal is much more personal this time, and that Pepper is up to some shady stuff.

The cliffhanger in that Star Fox short does make you wonder what the Cornerian Army's dark past is about.

Perhaps Andross used to be a member of the Cornerian Army, but he became power hungry, and began developing a Black Hole device; a device that can destroy planets in a matter of seconds. General Pepper found out about his fiendish plan before it was even finished, and exiled him.

While at Venom, Andross continued working on the Black Hole device, but due to the massive amount of time that's required to make it, he also worked on teleportation devices, which would later be used during the Lylat Wars.

Chances are, when Star Fox faces off against Andross, he reveals to the team that his Black Hole device is fully complete, and ready to be tested on Corneria. Knowing this, Peppy may try to make the device destroy Venom instead. However, this action would not only eradicate Andross, but the Star Fox team would be eradicated as well. But knowing that the stakes are high, Peppy knows that he may have to pay the ultimate price for defeating Andross.

*warning, literal interpretation of minor dialog here*

I'm pretty sure judging by the various other references made. . . both Pit and Viridi own base DS systems, Palutena has a Wii, and Hades apparently has a Donkey Kong cabinet stored away somewhere.

In other words, a sizable portion of the cast is really, really into gaming.

Also Pit also has at least some awareness of Smash Bros, both implying he directly participated in Brawl and had an awareness of earlier games all in one go.

In all honesty though, the fact that VIRIDI knows it means more than Pit does, because that means she's either played Metroid/Smash or had figured out about the Smash reality long before she actually cropped up in 4, and if it's the latter. . .HOO BOY, that's an interesting thought.

And that's not even getting into how they all get the gaming systems in the FIRST PLACE. There's a lot of oddly specific anachronism in the game in general, so it's possible either the gods and their servants can partially see into alternate timelines and take advantage of that, or else Dyntos built something that allows such and everyone else just ordered goodies from him. Or if Smash is involved, maybe somebody smuggled something out of the Pokemon/Earthbound/Animal Crossing universes.

Like, I know Falco's taller.
But they're copying the same pose, basically, and Fox's EARS struggle to line up with the peak of Falco's beak.

He's always been that much taller in canon. It's nothing new.

They're in the same pose so their size difference is the same as if they were to be standing up straight.

Like, the only time I can think of where you'd be able to compare their models in the actual SF games would be the running-to-the-ships cutscenes and then the multiplayer in Assault/Command.
But I was a lonely child hence never really got into multiplayer for games.
So Smash /has/ been kinda my "standard," and they're almost the same height.
Iunno.
It just seemed really off for me.

But two things.
A) He's no Falcon. His design's a weird looking middle ground between Pheasant and Caracara.
B) Of my knowledge, he IS to date the only avian in the series.

If Peppy was in Smash, he would be the character with the most landing lag.

Slippy would have moderate landing lag but would have a special "fake-out" move in some situations, allowing him to cancel his landing lag with a specific attack.
