All I'm doing is speaking out against the removal of the "boob slider" as I think it's a totally innocent feature and it's especially useful to me as I'd like an avatar that doesn't have a big bust.
I also mentioned that the stuff that's being censored in XBX by Nintendo, other companies got by in their games with the ESRB. That's it. I never defended Lin's bikini costumes in XBX at all.
That's why I asked you to correct me if I was wrong. What I was reading just seemed odd.
That said, while I agree the boob slider is relatively innocent, I wouldnt call it useful in the least (And I seriously doubt they're gonne give every avatar a "big bust"). And again, ratings are looked at as a whole not just piecewise. Two things if given alone can be fine, but having them together can raise ratings. For instance: combat/violence and blood can be in t-rated games, but blood caused by violence like someone being hit in combat typically causes the game to be rated M. It's the reason why Ms. Fortune and Eliza dont make Skullgirls rated M even though they get blood everywhere.
The point I'm getting at is that we dont know if there was a combination of factors that made the ESRB say "boob sliders are a no-no" or if Nintendo is just trying to take the safe route. It's just assumptions at this point.
I was contemplating why, of all characters, Cloud is now in Smash. I've been running through FF7 with Max Stats on my iPhone to relive the story.
And I realized this
Cloud is relevant to Smash, and Nintendo as a whole, in the same way Sonic is. It was a strike against Nintendo, but it made them who they are today.
FFVII was the first time a big RPG (in this case, the most popular RPG of all time) was not on Nintendo's console. It was a huge blow for them. But it was important. And that's why he, and Sonic are in Smash.
Interesting... you could expand that to apply to all 3rd parties:
: Challenged Nintendo in the battle of Graphics and Gameplay. MGS became relevant during a time when consoles were measured by the number of polygons they can display, thus began the graphics wars. While most games at the time were either pretty or were fun but rarely both, the Metal Gear Solid games stood out as pinnacles of master craftsmanship in both arenas. Snake, therefore, is a force that pushed Nintendo away from realism and encouraged them to stay within the realm of cartoons and fantasy.
: The War of the Mascots. To date, no other gaming mascot has rivaled Mario's popularity and iconicness than the Blue Blur. Sonic's rise to stardom pushed Nintendo to take Mario's character and franchise to new heights to stay on top - at the end of the day, Sonic made Mario who he is today.
: Usurper of the Crown of the Platforming King. Mega Man blew the 2D platformer genre out of the water. As a result, Nintendo was encouraged to expand into new areas of gameplay, adding more pressure to polish out innovative games and get more creative.
: The Arcade Emperor. Pac-Man booted Mario out of his arcade domain, so Nintendo responded by creating their own kingdom in the home console market. This became the foundation for everything that is Nintendo to this day.
: The Fighter Champion. Practically invented the fighter genre, his influence gave rise to countless pretenders trying to compete by doing what Ryu already does best. Nintendo, with nary a foot in the door in the fighter market, could not hope to stand out by copying Ryu's success - so, they did something different... and thus, Super Smash Bros. became a breakout hit for its unique gameplay. Were it not for Ryu, we probably wouldn't be playing Smash (at least, not in its present form) today.
Heck, Cloud's inclusion and what it means to the roster makes me rethink Pitfall Harry's chances...
What I'm hoping is that if we do get a "Ultimate Super Smash Bros 4" (Which, with all this DLC, I'm sure we are)... then these pro players will be given the task of balancing the game one last time.
Well, here's the thing; As adamant as I am about Cloud strictly being a general Final Fantasy rep, I can't say that for 100% certain since all of the content (and even the trailer) imply Final Fantasy VII as the source of any FF content we're getting.
Hence, yeah, there is some amount of room open for really outlandish ideas that would've been considered silly for years until yesterday. Chief evades the issue that most FPS/Mature characters have by having "futuristic" as a totally workable excuse for a moveset - Western society is pretty good at editing guns into lasers in all sorts of mediums. He doesn't look realistic and his guns don't.
Like I said, the big hurdle is that sans some cancelled projects between the two, Nintendo doesn't have much relation to Microsoft, and trophies/mii costumes might be a bit of an issue due to Cortana's look.
Bruh, you've clearly never played Halo. Most of the UNSC's weapons use bullets. Changing that is stepping all over the lore of the franchise and bound to piss off the majority of the fanbase.
This goes back to that whole censorship deal.
Don't.touch.it.
Plus, I doubt M$ would ever allow Chief to get in if Nintendo isn't gonna allow him to have his trademark guns.
Only reason those changes worked for Snake is cause non-lethal runs are encouraged in MGS, and stealth is prefered over confrontation. The entirety of Snake's moveset is Stealth-based, even with the explosives. And the weapons he does get are among the most iconic of the franchise, with the RPG being used in the boss fight against the HIND in MGS1, and at tge end of MGS2, the Nikita being a series staple, and Grenades and C4s being exemplary of syealth-based takedowns.
Taking the BR and SMGs from Chief is like taking away Link's sword and bow.
EDIT:
Also,
"His guns don't look realistic"
Except for the part that they totally do:
They're based off real weapons. And Chief's armor is being used as a source of inspiration for real combat armor for troops by DARPA. It's futuristic, but it's far from unrealistic. Sci-fi is always grounded in reality.
Maybe the people supporting Master Chief should play the Halo series before saying dumb things.

I'm actually curious about what other Final Fantasy songs we'll get, I won't be surprised if that was just a Medley in the trailer. I'd kill for Big Bridge. Only carrots though
I wouldn't be hoping too much, considering Ryu's stage only had 3 versions of Ryu's Theme and Ken's Theme. I mean, it is possible for Midgar to have themes from other FF games, but I don't exactly count on them getting music. I could see some of the more recurring songs happening, like Big Bridge, Prelude, Main Theme/Prologue and one of the Chocobo themes, but I don't see any guarantees.
With his personality I wouldn't be surprised. Also why would Nintendo ask them to test Cloud, and not the other DLC? Unless proof is offered I'm very uninclined to believe this, I don't trust them. Plus as TehepicAnna said, I doubt Cloud can glide.
I heard about the breast slider thing, and it's pretty stupid, but overall I don't care. I'm not bothering with the localized version.
One thing to note however, this is why PC bull**** is ********. Isn't that technically discriminatory toward women of larger breasts who might wanna make an avatar to match their figure?
It reminds me of the whole Dragon's Crown ****storm a while back, with people crying about the Sorceress's bust, saying that it was "unrealistic" only to have girls with large breasts come out and tell them to shut the **** up. Also, Kamitani's response to that Kotaku journalist's rant was priceless.
In that same vein, with PC nonsense, people claiming that Lin has the body of a child (despite her proportions matching those of an adult), isn't that TOO discriminatory toward petite girls with smaller frames and chests? Ergo, most Asian women? Why must we fit everyone into one mold for what is ok, and not. Don't tiny girls already feel bad enough about their "less feminine figures" why rub it in their faces even further.
See, this is why PC culture is ********. Theit own thinking is full of holes.
Concerning "discrimination" that's not quite accurate imo. The issue isn't that there's a default size; no one complains that Mass Effect or Demon's Souls has one bust size. People are taking issue that the option was removed. If it was never there we wouldnt be hearing this noise.
Having a default size (of any size) doesnt mean small or medium or big boobs are lewd or being discriminated against. That would imply that Nintendo is against different boob sizes, which is obviously not true.
All we know for certain is that Nintendo, for one reason or another, potentially chose (I believe it's just a rumor atm) to go the one-size-fits-all route. Heck we dont even know if they simply changed the proportion associations (bigger women have bigger boobs). There's just so much we dont know that getting up in arms about it atm seems a bit knee-jerky.

Supposedly, but I don't buy it. Actually let me see if I can get an answer... I tweeted BIll, while he may not respond, he does respond to people from time to time, and if they are allowed to talk about this, then I don't see why Bill couldn't be.
I still can't believe Cloud is in Smash, he's going to be one of my mains, when do you guys think he's coming out? I think he's coming out in late/mid November or December.

Definitely December, more specifically, the day of the smash direct. IT will be like the June one probably and he will release that day with two others.
Agreed, although he can be as low tier as possible, but I will find a way to wreck online with him! He should be slightly harder to grasp, but I look forward to playing as him.
I guess I'm lucky. Suicune and the sneasel line are literally my favorite pokemon. I was set from the get-go.

Considering the reasons for censoring a lot of the other content both in this game as well as previous ones is to appeal to a family friendly images, as well as avoid offending an overly sensitive culture that is bound to start controversy over nothing, I feel it's not too farfetched to assume the boobslider bit falls into a similar category.
Deal is, Nintendo needs to realise controversy is good. That's literally why GTA even sells in the first place.
Anyway, I was just spinning PC thinking on itself. Their rationale is "change this cause it's offensive" when in fact, the very act of removing something to appeal to a specific group can be offensive in an of itself.
Ofc, you can't expect conformist hipsters and social activists to have much in the way of critical thinking skills. They're just blindly following others to fit in by not fitting in and not really paying attention to the **** they're spewing (this is why feminism fails on so many levels).
