I'll get around to buying all the amiibos I want (like Ryu, ZSS, Zelda, a couple others) when those come out

E3?

Question: Should I call a game store to ask if they have the Limited Edition of Fates? Because they have the release date, but not the Limited Edition, the one I need
Don't you europe plebs get all the paths in one cartdridge?
And I'm still salty about that

Me rn: having an anxiety attack because I uploaded work for my media class and it never went through, and what we did today not being complete in terms of the research I have to do

Help me

It works better in terms of business, though there's also the fact that Awakening divided the fans.
I'm not really sure why that makes it justified. Fans who hated awakening probably wouldn't have bought it any way.

I'll save my full thoughts until after I've beaten them both but I will say that I'm enjoying Birthright a lot more than Awakening, at least in terms of story/character. So far it's the easiest FE game I've ever played, and voice acting is kind of mediocre.

My Castle is an interesting concept, I'd like to see it be taken a step forward the next game maybe by having the Lord of the game actually govern their kingdom.

That rumour was false
HAHAHA
SUCK IT EUROPE
*ahem*
Sorry for your wallet
Better question.

Why are they split up in the first place?
I honestly like to think they both started as one game
But IS got too ambitious with making the two routes completely different(which worked, both are basically a completely different game) that having two games for the price of one would be bad for them
Doesn't help that the idea for Revelations also came early in development(as soon as the idea for two routes was given, actually), though it was probably still in the same game at the time(so 3 games for the price of one! That would have been cool)
So it ended up with both C and BR being their own games and R as DLC

This wouldn't be a problem and I even defended the split prior to the game's release
But IS ended up making Revelations the "true" route and the only reason it even reveals anything is because those things are arbitrarily hidden in the other two routes which ended up hurting their plots with little to no mention on the third route's main plot points which explain a lot of things which results in an ending with little conclusion
Conquest is even worse because its plot starts out good but starts relying too much on Idiot Ball after its first half

It's not that they released an unfinished translation. It's that they went the lazy route here. If it was unfinished we'd see Japanese text
It's not even laziness because the B conversation follows something that clearly should have happened in the C conversation. It doesn't seem natural and the fan translation shows context that makes the B conversation seem like a follow-up to that.

It's more a QA issue over anything else. The "..." empty conversation reeks of being placeholder before the finished translation was done.

*one support removed*
THEY RELEASED AN UNFINISHED GAME!!

Geez, calm down, it's literally only one support rank and it still makes sense without it
I'm calm as calmness will ever be.

As I said above, it does seem off and makes the conversation quite unnatural.

Like, the first conversation is absolute silence, but suddenly the B conversation seems like the scene begins with a conversation in the middle? I mean, the original C conversation is clearly the characters meeting each other and introducing themselves to one another. The B conversation, in both translations, clearly picks up from there and has the characters know themselves better.

It's not even about censorship or localization. It's a straight up QA issue, which raises my eyebrows far more than changing a 13-year-old girl's skimpy outfit or removing a waifu-petting mini-game.

The game might still be enjoyable but it is a weird issue that even those who were not aware of the whole censorship controversy may notice if they pay a bit of attention to the dialogue.

What I'm doing is not a rant: it's criticism, using logic, argumentation and explaining something that is wrong and shouldn't be given a pass. Remember, Fire Emblem is a RPG. Story is an important aspect.

This kind of stuff is already far too prevalent in the video game industry. And no, just because Nintendo does it, it doesn't mean it's okay. Nintendo isn't a special snowflake among video game companies and developers.

Don't be an apologist just because you like the game. You may like the game, but still point out flaws that it has. There's no such thing as perfection and there's always room for improvement. This is my whole point.

I've pointed out flaws in regards to Smash Bros. before, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying the game and appreciating its overall quality.

I'm not 100% sure what the hell is going on because I haven't played the game and am STILL in anti-spoiler land (yay /s) but this quote alone is still true.

Assuming what you're saying about the conversation is true then yeah. . . that's kind of silly. This entire localization has been one huge mess. :/

One of the C support conversations in the NA version doesn't have dialogue and it's just "..." in the text boxes. See the video I posted. The corresponding B conversation is clearly a follow up to what the C conversation should have been, as the fan translation suggests.

People are calling it censorship, when it's clearly not the case. It's more of a QA thing, because the "..." stuff reeks of being placeholder text. I mean, I work with software programming in college and I do such stuff all the time before replacing the placeholders with actual content.

Because, yes, you need to re-program the game to have the translated dialogue. The development team does have involvement in localization and translation. Someone needs to alter the source code to replace the Japanese text with the translated script.

And no, I'm not making stuff up. It is true and Serenes Forest is a very reliable source for FE game transcripts.

The conversation in B still made sense to me and I didn't even read their Japanese C support
But I doubt it's a placeholder as their expressions even change
I see it more as being a reference that they're both assassins that don't talk much
Hell, most of Beruka's supports are somehow related to how quiet she is(she only even talks to Camilla in their C support because Camilla orders her to) so I believe it fits
Even if you disagree, it's one support for two characters that can only ever support in one route

EDIT:
And because the other post was big enough as it was, here is a list of things that could have appeared in either BR and C but are only ever explained in R
(Lots and lots of spoilers from all routes)
-if you S Rank a Hoshido sibling, they either find out through a letter left by Mikoto or Ryoma just says it to Corrin that they are not actually blood related. Revelations reveals from where Corrin and Mikoto come from and who was her first husband but this is never discussed in BR
-Valla appears in one chapter in Conquest(which its only real purpose is to re-recruit Gunter), it's never mentioned again and Azura doesn't even bother to explain what it is to Corrin unlike how she does in R's Chapter 7
-Azura is revealed to not be blood related to the Nohrian siblings in C but where she and her mother come from is also never explained.
-the actual reason Corrin can transform into a dragon is not even discussed, it's just accepted as if it was a normal thing like shooting lasers from your sword or killing people with trees
-who and what possess both Takumi and Garon in C
-Lillith's origins
-The Hooded boss in Chapter 5 who even has "???" for his name(spoiler: it's Sumeragi, why do you think he's a Swordmaster?)

And even better, plot points that make for a very unsatisfying ending without them and are mutually exclusive to BR and C:
-The fact that Azura's song slowly kills her is never mentioned even when the circumstances that Corrin finds out about it in BR are the same as in C(after the Opera House chapter, Corrin follows Azura to a lake, in BR they see her curse take effect, in C this leads to them... following Azura through a portal to Valla and the curse's effects are never mentioned
The result: Azura disappears at the end of Conquest and no one knows ever finds out what happened to her

-King Garon is actually dead and his body is being used as a puppet: this is revealed by Azura to Corrin at the end of Chapter 15 in C, her proof is a Crystal Ball that reveals the truth to a, quote-on-quote, "someone with dragon's blood or a very powerful mage"
They only ever bother to reveal this to the others 11 chapters later when Leo could have used said crystal and tell the others about it(as the others siblings needed more to be convinced than Corrin was)
Azura never bothers to tell this to anyone in BR
The result: Garon will be remembered in history as a tyrant when the real Garon was actually a caring father and husband to all of his children and concubines
Also, as a side note, the real Garon is never revived in Revelations unlike all the other royals(Mikoto, Sumeragi and Azura's mother)

Fable Legends has been cancelled. With it, Press play and Lionhead Studios have been closed down by Microsoft.

And it seems to have been a bit sudden.

Damn
Fable 1 and 2 were pretty big deals and I loved them, even if they were flawed in many ways they were still good experiences. Fable 3 and the spinoffs weren't spectacular but this is a pretty big series that probably will go belly-up after this. Plus a bunch of people are off to look for jobs because they just learned heir company is closing.

Man it hurts seeing people lose their jobs and a franchise go to hell but man not a lot of people cared about Fable for YEARS.

Man, Halo and Fable were the Xbox's most best and noble franchises and they aren't looking great at all.

I hope Gears 4 is super good and Scalebound becomes a small hit for the hardcore audience.

I want to have faith in Quantum Break but I need more information

Also was this discussed?
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/...-to-produce-a-transforming-arwing-amiibo.aspx

“We were working on a couple of ideas for the game for well over a year,” says Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto. “There was one point where we had an Arwing Amiibo that would transform into the walker. But it was really tough to execute that in the normal Amiibo size and in a way that met with product-safety standards. We had to give up on it. For now, it’s only going to work with Fox and Falco from the Super Smash Bros. series.”

Lol. I get what your saying, but you don't sound calm at all.
True but man, when you see your favorite series look like garbage at any front and the laziness the company has, then he would be upset.

It's a harsh time. Whether the game is good or not, I don't wanna accept BS and feel numb to it.

A group of mine has been working on something...

Remember the fighting game starring monsters? Well, we've been doing a couple of things to make it real...

After a lot of discussion and thinking, the final roster is...

Medusa
Yuki-Onna
Wolfman
Vampire
Moth Man
Golem
Chupacabra
???
???
???
???
???
???
???

DLC and stuff can be added later. This roster was chosen to incorporate a diverse roster (in several ways) while giving each character a part in the plot.

Either way, we have a demo for you...

It's a small snippet of a plot for arcade mode. Our current plan is to have the plot go...

  • Opening
  • Fighting
  • Cutscene
  • Special Fight
  • More fighting
  • Another Cutscene
  • More Fighting
And so on until the end boss. If you manage to never lose a round, you get the true ending for the character you chose.

Regardless, here we go.
(Opening)

*A couple is having a picnic at a park. The guy is wearing sunglasses. A radio is playing some relaxing music. They are sitting near some stone tiles.*

*Camera pans to a tile on the earth. It shakes gently.

Dame: "Change the channel, honey. I want something more exciting."

Dude: "You got it, babe." *starts changing channels*

*radio switches to a new channel*

Radio: "This just in. Are the monsters from your favorite fairy tales and myths actually real? New leaks from charity organization CHIMERA suggest that they are all very real."

Dame: "Monsters?"

Radio: "The evidence for these leaks include once-secret documents from governments of countries from around the world. There are also in-depth research notes on the anatomy of several different creatures. The most disturbing piece of evidence infers that CHIMERA was allegedly planning to weaponize these creatures.”

*Medusa erupts through the earth and screams with rage! Snakes hiss in anger with her*

Medusa: "CHIMERA!!!"

*The couple screams and runs away. The guy drops his glasses*

Medusa: "I knew they could never be trusted. They don't care about anyone but their own damn race. Selfish. Liars! I’ll make certain those cretins get what they deserve!"

HISSSSSSS

*takes out sword and shield*

Medusa: "And by the gods, I will be the one to do it!

...

No guards? Come to think of it, why didn't the seal take effect?"

*snakes hiss quietly*

"You're right. It doesn't matter! Fate has given me an opportunity."

*A man sees her and they lock glances. He panics as he slowly turns to stone.*

*puts on sunglasses*

"And I will not squander it!"

(Scene 2)

Medusa: "Hmm...All these CHIMERA sympathizers. Worthless."

*Moth Man flies in*

Moth Man: "Hey, uh...Miss?"

Medusa: "Hmm? Oh gods, you're ugly."

Moth Man: "I'm gonna ignore the fact that you just said that."

Medusa: "What do you want?"

Moth Man: "Well, uh... *ahem* Hello, Sir or Madam or unsexed creature. My name is Francis, or the Mothman, and I work for CHIMERA.”

Medusa: *gnashes teeth* "CHIMERA?!?"

Moth Man: "Yes indeed, CHIMERA! Now, we have received reports of a…creature with snake-like features causing alarm in the area. That'd be you, Miss."

Medusa: *Seething* *Snakes hiss*

Moth Man: "CHIMERA would like to offer you asylum. *cough* We understand that you may be feeling afraid and hesitant to trust us, but if you allow us to help you, we can promise you a new and safe place in this dangerous world of human dominance."

Meudsa: *Getting even angrier* *Snakes are starting to calm down and listen while Medusa starts muttering to herself*

Moth Man: "CHIMERA is willing to work with whatever cultural or biological needs you may have. If you are interested, please tell our agent, that's me, any biological needs that may be seen an "unusual" or “distur-"

Medua: "I have heard enough!"

Moth Man: "Hey ma’am, they don't mean anything by it. It's just a way to ensure creatures of all types are included. I mean, look at me. I eat things that would give most people nightmares."

Meduesa: "SILENCE! You miserable worm! You are nothing but a dog for CHIMERA!"

Moth Man: "I…I take offense to that worm comment."

Medusa: "All of CHIMERA's followers must be destroyed!"

Moth Man: "Geez, lady. I know it’s my first time giving the whole spiel but you don't have to act crazy about it."

Medusa: "I WILL END YOU!"

What do you think? We want to see what the public think.
Judging by the amount of likes this has, I'm glad people seem excited about this. Working on Moth Man in particular has been a favorite part for me. Such a great character, without giving away too much. :p

Anyone have any questions or comments about this?

Can we see concept art? I'm curious what style this would have
I think you'd need to ask Swamp Sensei Swamp Sensei , but I think showing off one or two pieces would be okay. I wouldn't want to leak anything to the former leak group without his permission though. :p

Oh, so you guys were still working on that. LOL, I guess I was kicked from the group some time back.

I could have still helped with something, but I guess you guys are doing great already

If you'd like to contribute something, I'm sure Swamp would like to have you aboard! The group just went through some restructuring is all, so those who hadn't really posted were removed during it. Though like I said, there shouldn't be an issue with rejoining again.

Come to think of it I wouldn't be surprised if Splatoon got something either, in addition to Mario and Zelda stuff. They've been pushing it a ton, more so than some of their other series.

And I could see like, concession areas and shops based on Animal Crossing.

But basically anything else I can't really see, barring gift shop stuff.

More questions: Will the game have Super moves? That's always good in my book. Will there be some kind of ballot in which you can submit fighter ideas? Will this get funded by itself or will something like Kickstarter be needed?
I think I can confirm that there will be some form of super moves, but Swamp can choose to elaborate more if he wishes. Rest assured there's something planned I think people will enjoy. :p

Funding is still being discussed at the moment. Right now we're more so at the stage where we're gathering the types of people needed to make the game (we're making good progress!) before we start gathering funds. Nothing confirmed, but I'm personally a proponent of a Kickstarter.

As for a ballot, that hasn't been discussed, but it's not off the table if we decide to go through with DLC characters should this project prove fruitful.

Goddammit, now I hope Moth Man gets a costume at the very least like Teen Titan's Killer Moth so I can pretend we get Kamen Riders. Also, a final question from me. Can we expect the Skullgirls way with alternative colours? Most, if not all colours are references to other fictional characters in media
