So...
Now that Street Fighter V has been out a while...
Thoughts?
The launch of the game is and has been heavily contested. True, the game is out, and people are able to play with it 24/7. Perfect if you want to be the new Daigo Umehara and take on the competitive world through tourneys and EVO. However, for the casual Street Fighter fan, there's not a lot to do in terms of being able to play on your own, such as the arcade, Player VS CPU...
We've got a small roster that we know will get bigger eventually. But while there are a lot of familiar faces that we all want to see - (Q and Remy, pls), I'd personally love to see what new faces could be introduced to the world of Street Fighter. Rashid and F.A.N.G are my personal newcomers so far, but out of 16, there's room for more exploration. Australian fighter or even perhaps trying to slightly revive Darkstalkers with someone like Demitri, Morrigan or Hsien-Ko would be cool. Batsu? One day...
That said - in relation to the actual launch and release, it could have been a lot better. I'll repeat an earlier remark and say that it probably could have done with perhaps another month or two in development so that arcade and PVC could have been added to make it easier for the casual SF fan (which I'd classify myself as) to continue to play. Perhaps adding in Alex and one last newcomer to make it 18 or perhaps 20 would be great for a big budget launch.
Overall, the gameplay itself is solid for PVP, but it's perhaps noteworthy that Capcom wanted this game out sooner rather than later. One would be better off getting it at a much cheaper price, and by then more content would have been added. While I haven't engaged the story personally, there has been mixed reception to the cutscenes - are they rushed; or was Bengus trying a new medium; or both? We've also got a lot to explore in the story, if the story mode so far is just a teaser.
Launch score: Probably between 6.7 to 7.5 in terms of scores, after my personal thoughts and looking at both sides of the arguments for SFV. Hopefully as the year goes on, this score would become something akin to an 7.5 to 8.3 or something.
As for Pokemon Day - the 27th of February (Australian time zone), I just caught Zygarde and Mewtwo in Y and downloaded Yellow. This afternoon I tried to get some Pokemon Badges from Badge Arcade, getting all but Gengar in the first round, but completely failing and getting a rabbit's foot... Then just sit around and laugh at Markiplier's videos on this game called 'Turbo Dismount,' which I'd love to play for myself, seeing all the carnage Marki got up too.
