Hey did anyone here play Fossil Fighters: Frontier?

I'm thinking of picking it up.

Fossil Fighters for Smash 5.
The only dinosaur we need is Ivysaur or Agumon. :p

But yeah, they could be interesting. Never played the series though. The only one I've seen/played recently(seen in this case) was Dinosaur King. I think that was originally a Manga/Anime, though. I do love what they could overall do with a direct dinosaur, something more than what Yoshi is(who isn't really feral at all).

Don't.
It's a game that is medicore in just about everything it does.
Until it hits an absolutely stupid difficulty wall with no warning and you just don't have a team strong enough to tackle the challenge unless you go have gone out of your way to ignore all standard characters.

My assists idea was generating some discussion earlier, so now that I'm at my own computer, I thought I'd post my Smash 5 assist roster. The ones on the left are the base roster, the ones on the right are DLC ideas.

The Animal crossing emblem represents a new AC assist, maybe Gulliver. Isabelle is an alt for Villager, so it isn't her.
Snivy, Cyndaquil and Mudkip represent Fire, Water, and Grass starters generally. Every starter of each type is mechanically the same, but have different looks and animations.
The Pokemon emblem represents a 7th gen pokemon, which will likely be out when smash 5 rolls around.

So I was watching a skit from Tales of Xillia 2 and they literally referenced the Pepe frog meme lol.
Zestiria references the Doge meme of all things as well.

Not in a skit, but in an item. lol

Funny though, been playing Xillia 2 for awhile.

So far I don't know what to think of it.

Eh, I wouldn't say it needs a playable character.

It could use an Assist Trophy, though. Most other series in it's sales tier have one, so Wynaut?

Don't.

Yeaaaah that difficulty wall was pretty off and the lack of many types of dinosaurs or the ability to make a full team out of your own dinosaurs kind of bothered me.

The music was alright, though. Not mind-blowing, but I'd be OK with seeing a track or two in Smash.

Like.
To elaborate.
This difficulty spike comes AT 90% OF THE WAY THROUGH THE GAME.
UP TO THIS POINT, ONE MAYBE TWO FIGHTS WILL GIVE YOU ANY CHALLENGE WHATSOEVER.

And the game says "You can't use effectively any ranger that's associated to one of the branch offices."
"Well who does that leave me with?"
"That nerd, the brat, the ninja you could pay to join you, aaaand the rich boy and hot head that you may or may not have recruited."
"But... I've been using the plot characters throughout the entire game! Those guys aren't leveled or anything!"
"And?"
"BUT YOU'RE MAKING ME DO A 4 FIGHT TOURNAMENT WITH ONLY 2 HEALS!"

So... can anyone help me out?

I downloaded the DLC, was having a blast playing as Bayo and Corrin for a few hours, then... my Wii U just shut off. The LED was flashing red. Upon further inspection, it seems like it overheated. And I legitimately don't know why.

I let it sit for the night, and when I turned it on everything seemed alright (only turned it on for a few minutes, though). The fan is functioning properly, so that doesn't seem like the issue. The stand it's on isn't super dusty, either (I thought it could have been dust buildup, but I cover the Wii U after I'm finished and the fan is working, so...). All of my data is still intact, so nothing was lost.
Keep in mind that I've had the system for 2 1/2 years at this point, and there's been zero problems. Literally the first time something like this has happened.

So... should I worry? It's not covered by the warranty anymore, so I'd have to pay $100+ for potential repairs. I don't want to have to send it in for something I could probably fix myself; but, at the same time, I don't want to risk frying the system.

I know it's a little weird to bring this up, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I put T. Rex in my smash 5 roster. Made a moveset and everything.
I've heard Frontier is pretty bad though. Play Champions, it is wonderful.

Which came before the ESRB.
The only time he's been in an ESRB-rated game is the digital re-release of Sonic the Fighters, with his pop-cork pistols and it got an E rating.
And the 3DS VC ports of Sonic Triple Trouble and Sonic Drift 2. And Sonic Gems Collection, which included all three games. And the GameCube version of Sonic Adventure DX, where Triple Trouble and Drift 2 were unlockable bonus games. All of these releases were rated E.

February 6th, Mew gave birth......
We named the newborn Mewtwo...:150:

Mewtwo, a Physic-type man-made Legendary Pokemon. Genetic Clone of Mew and wielder of Two Mega Evolutions, i shall celebrate your birthday today/tonight.

Mewtwo has wielded many different faces over the years.
From Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back to Pokemon Stadium to Adventures to Origins, Mewtwo has truly stood the test of time, becoming one of Pokemon's most recognizable faces to many gamers around the world.

But i came here to share my little story of how i reacted to Mewtwo in Smash 4:

I remeber strictly waiting for Mewtwo's arrival in Smash 4, ever since E3 2013, i awaited his (or they, or its) return to the happy go-lucky-gone wrong of Nintendo. I remember beign an ignorant fool back in April 8, 2014, thinking that the Pokemon known as Greninja, was Mewtwo.

Ever since, the desesperation in me grew bigger and bigger, as the bandwagon of Mewtwo "haters" (or wathever they were) proclaimed that Mewtwo was a goner. No matter how many rumors popped, my hope for the Legendary Genetic Pokemon was always strong, even with the ESRB Leak.

All those jokes, memes and other stuff about Mewtwo not returning were a minor annyoance for me. I was confident and hopeful, something that can backfire easily when it comes to smash speculation. But despite the wait, the dream became real. I remember that afternoon, on October 23rd
of 2014. I still remember how the Camer first showed Mewtwo's feet, and how it slowly revealed the rest of the body.

There are many characters out there that i wanted that never made it. K.Rool, Isaac, Simon Belmont and others, but there's no character out there that i have the same attachment with other than Mewtwo (except maybe Megaman). If i had to sacrifice a Smash 4 newcomer for Mewtwo, i would (unless it was Megaman as already mentioned or Lil' Mac or Greninja) im not joking.
I could be Corrin, Bayo, Palutena, you name it.

I don't care that Mewtwo is low tier or trash tier or whatever, im not a competitive guy. I prefer him to be this way than not beign in the game at all. There, i said it. Say what you want about me, but i don't care. I love Mewtwo, he is awsome for me and always will.

Happy Birthday Mewtwo, and i hope future generations appreciate you, just like the older generations did since the beggining of Gen 1.

To end this random rambling that i did, i will leave you with this:
That's right tomorrow is his birthday! Happy Birthday Mewtwo!

Now watch as we are teased with a Mega Mewtwo Z

I had this happen to me before. It's only happened to me when playing Smash though. I wouldn't be worried however. It's been months since this has happened to me, so it doesn't seem to have any long term effects.

It has however costed me some items in Classic Mode Intensity 9.0. Just....glad I got all mii related stuff and almost all customs. :estatic:

I stand corrected.
I... forgot about Drift 2 existing.
And that Triple Trouble ever saw the light of day again.

So, Corrin can survive a Dair...
...with precise timing and input
Though you can probably just pin yourself to a wall and then jump but it's not every stage that allows that

Well, that's relieving. I'll try it again later and see if it's alright.

In a perfect world we'd get both Scorpion and Sub-Zero as the MK characters, but just look at NetherRealm Studios's logo, the MK reveal trailers and Boon's interviews/Twitter and you know what character they would pick

I still consider both to be the flagship characters of the franchise though

Ah yes of course. I couldn't forget Sub-Zero! He'd be perfect for Smash!

As one of Scorpion's palette swaps ;)
Scorpion now being the outright face of the series does help. Honestly, that's the one thing that would be great about getting any Ninja in Smash. The actual costume colors wouldn't suck like some do(Sonic, Pac-Man, Cloud...). It is neat that the palette swaps were entirely done on purpose in the games anyway. The only real differences were simply slight variants for other characters(Red to light Red, etc.)

In a perfect world we'd get Sergeant Dude of the classic Halo series to be in the competition.

I think he may be too busy finding out how the series is gonna continue without Sergeant Dude though

Scorpion in Smash?

I like Mortal Kombat, but I wonder if Boon would even want a Mortal Kombat character censored heavily again after everyone complained about MK vs DC.

Sub Zero is a lot more important in the story of Mortal Kombat than Scorpion
Story-wise, sure. But Sub-Zero's then beaten by Liu Kang or Raiden for most story-centric character.

Iconicity-wise? Scorpion's got him beat hands-down. He's the quintessential MK character, both to casual players who don't know Mortal Kombat, as his quotes and appearance are the more recognizable ones. Also, the MK series definitely has Scorpion as THE primary/mascot character, as he's everywhere in advertising, on the boxart, in the crossovers, and even on the company's logo. He may not be the most plot-important character, but he's definitely the character that represents the MK franchise.

Scorpion in Smash?

I mean, considering he did Scorpion in Injustice, which went over much better (as the best selling DLC character, over even the heavily requested Martian Manhunter), I'd say any fears he had regarding MK vs. DC have been assuaged by now.

I think it'd be best to leave MK out of Smash simply because unlike the small downplay of Bayo's naughtier characteristics? How do you downplay a fatality as a Final Smash?

It's killing someone. That's literally how matches end in Mortal Kombat.

Sakurai would want to be accurate to that, to be true to the gameplay of MK and I don't think he could really pull off censoring the iconic fatalities to fit them into Smash.

Bayonetta and MGS are far more tongue-in-cheek than MK while still being for mature audiences. MK, while it's corny, is very gritty and doesn't mesh with Smash at all.

I also hate dialup combos and how MK works in general but that's my own personal bias. :x

Closest thing I could think for a final smash is a Brutality which could behave as a grounded Mii Fighter final smash

With Sub-Zero being the ESRB maker, I doubt there would be a way to downplay his fatalities...

Then again, this is just a pipedream of getting certain characters in Smash no matter how unlikely they might be :p

*looks at Bayonetta's Final Smash* I mean, if a person's over 100%, they get insta-KO'd. And it practically shows them being eaten by a demonic abomination from Hell.

My matches usually end with my characters spazzing out as he moves in seemingly random directions and kicking and punching

and the opponent just falling over

(As I get the fatalities wrong)

That's actually the most beautiful thing about Scorpion being the go-to rep for MK in Smash Bros.: His most iconic fatality is the easiest to tone down and implement as a workable Final Smash.

Good old classic Toasty.

All you'd have to do is instead of having the enemy turn into a skeleton from the flame burst, it just sends them flying. Ideally I'd actually imagine Toasty being toned up in terms of size by becoming a huge stream of fire that sends people flying instead of skeletonizing them. You don't even have to have the announcer say FATALITY if that's too egregious for Smash, because Toasty has it's own, also iconic soundbite. It's pretty much the perfect way to keep the iconic Fatality aspect of MK alive in Smash, whilst still making it acceptable to use on the likes of Kirby and Pikachu.

It's almost fate-like how Scorpion's most iconic parts work out so well in a Smash environment. Or maybe that's just my hopes and dreams getting in the way :colorful:

Also a very workable option, and definitely in line with some of MK's goofier humor like with Babalities and Motor Kombat, or Sub-Zero turning people into a snowman.

I've finally finished all of the challenges in Smash 3DS! Every custom move, costume, hat, and even trophy. The final piece was Captain Falcon's helmet which I got after beating Classic with Bayo, which also netted me the last of the trophies. Yhes! :4falcon:

All I know is I suddenly really, really want to do one of these.

However, I want to do a bit more of a skew towards bosses, particularly the especially massive, iconic, or flashy kinds of bosses.

So instead of getting the near guarantee of some happy, cheery thing like we have now, there's a decent chance that you'll roll the Assist Trophy equivalent of a Master Ball and suddenly have something that dwarfs the stage or throws out a really flashy array of attacks at your opponent.

I mean, what's the point of having Starfy as your Goldeen/Eevee if you don't have a decent supply of Legendaries in the bag?

*EDIT* Well aside from Sherrif, but he doesn't really look cool he just hits like a truck.
