If I were directing smash 5, I would implement a mechanic that would allow you to choose an assist on the CSS that you could summon after filling a meter, kind of like in MvC.
I think it'd be a cool mechanic, and I think it'd make being an assist a better consolation prize for those who wanted the character playable.
I would not be opposed to this actually...so long as they actually nerf some of the AT's since some of them have close to 1 hit kills...

While I like the idea and wouldn't mind ATs getting more love I assume this would be solo mode only or optional

Because having any AT Nightmare show up in the middle of a competitive match? Hoo boy does that sound obnoxious.

Well, distraction type ATs like nightmare or nintendog would never be summonable.
All the ones who can be summoned would be rebalanced to make them competitive.
I came up with a system where more powerful ones have a larger meter to fill before you can summon them.

Meh, It's a neat idea for a mode, but AT's could never be a balanced addition to actual competitive play.

I feel like I'm one of the few gamers who's never touched a console Zelda title before and looks at every request and pained cry for a Zelda newcomer with a puzzled frown and the thought process of "Why in Hyrule is everyone upset that we didn't get a bunch of Zelda characters that only showed up once outside of Hyrule Warriors and never cropped up again?"

I can only assume that every copy of Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword has some kind of appeal-boosting aerosol packaged into it that gets released upon opening the box and kicks in a few hours later.

I had this idea but more in the sense you summon actual playable characters. Like in Dissidia 012 and Marvel.

Each character would have three or so assist moves for different situations, and assist characters can also combo break.

For example, you launch a character off-stage and then summon Mario to Meteor Smash them with his Forward Air.

I feel like this could easily a new mechanic if they make an enhanced port of Smash 4 for NX. It wouldn't take much extra work.

Perhaps because they would be really fun to play as in Smash?

Or maybe it's because the characters in those games had a meaningful impact on the people who played then and they'd like for them to be featured in more than the one canon game they debuted in?

As someone who actually is developing a game, don't assume such things require little work. Actually developing and implementing mechanics isn't as easy as it looks. No matter how simple it looks.

And even then this mechanic doesn't even look simple to implement. Come on dude.

I disagree. If they were rebalanced, and didn't stay around for as long as one summoned with an item, I don't think it'd be very different from giving each character a 5th special move.

The characters I want for the next Smash are Elma, Fiora, Bandana Dee, King.K Rool, Dixie, Lloyd and Quote.

It's probably a matter of my not really understanding what they can do in their home games, then. I know lots of heavily supported characters have a similar issue with me.

Or maybe it's because the characters in those games had a meaningful impact on the people who played then and they'd like for them to be featured in more than the one canon game they debuted in?
Well. . .from what I read up on, all three of the characters that are heavily requested would kind of require a butt-pull to use again.

I guess they could try using Midna in the Wind Waker timeline since it's not like Ganondorf not being imprisoned automatically erases the Twilight Realm from existence, but aside from Toon Midna becoming a regular thing I'm not sure what else they could do.

No, it'd be like temporarily 2v1'ing somebody.
No matter how you slice it, that short burst of assistance could lead to some very inescapable combos...frustrating ones.

It'd certainly be a powerful technique.
That is why it's metered.

That being said, an alternative version of the idea I've been playing around with is rather than summoning the assist to fight alongside you, the assist temporarily replaces your character and you control it directly.

You how Ryu has 2 final smashes, how about everyone gets a second Final Smash as well

:4mario: gets a FLUDD based final smash, :4fox:&:4falco: will bring out their Arwings, :4samus: with the Shinespark Charge and :4dk: with his combo punches from the Returns/TF games

At that point just make them playable. . .
A character with like 3 moves that you can only control for like 7 seconds would be much easier to balance than a fully fleshed out character.

If you only have like 3 moves then those moves either

A. Need to be super OP to make things worth it.

Or

B. Make using this mode completely useless because you lose combo potential.

Neither is a good outcome

That's a pretty good point, but the really good moves would be balanced by the fact that you have a short timeframe in which to use them.

That being said, I agree that the replacement concept isn't as good as the summon concept.

I AM BACK FROM MY SHIFTS.

so good news everyone they removed the petting part of the petting minigame you just skip to the benefit
http://nintendoeverything.com/speci...removal-in-fire-emblem-fates-western-release/

which in my opinion is kinda stupid
"i just walked into your room.....can i spend more time with you?"
Welp.
I got what I wanted.

Now that DLC is finished, who was your #1 most-wanted newcomer that didn't make the cut this time? Aside from K. Rool and Ridley (and perhaps Inklings as well) as I know a lot of people will say them and the answers may be homogenous in that regard.

Mine was and always will be Toad, followed by Bandana Dee, Wonder Red, Dillon, Hawlucha, Sukapon, (Inklings) and Sami in any order.
Listen. I want certain characters. Waluigi, Bandana Dee, Anna, Ashley, Marshal (RH), Shantae, Donbe & Hikari....
But my heart has a special number 1.

My most wanted Zelda character is unique Ganondorf.
See above, Chandy. :troll:

Since K. Rool and Ridley are my first and second most wanted respectively, my next most wanted is Toad (regular, not Captain), followed by Meowth and Kamek.

Also.
Are :4bayonetta2: and :4cloud2: just coming up as blank gaps for anyone else?
Same here. Don't worry it happened to me first time they added in Bayo & Corrin (tho Wario or someone else was randonmly blank too).

It should fix itself in a few days...assuming the same thing magically happens.

Save that for Nintendo vs Capcom.
