I've played quite a bit of sonic games but I can't really think of a that great sonic stage right now. Probably because I lost interest since Lost World or something.

iunno, later I might think of something from Sonic Adventure or something

Ok, since there's clearly no one else entering, I'm gonna call the mini round closed. Will post results when they are graded, if you still care

Sorry in advance for the picture size, I could only find this one pic of the exact area I wanted, and I couldn't find a smaller version.

Aquarium Park (Sonic Colors)

Here is the Japan-flavored indoor aquarium level from Sonic Colors. Hope you packed swim trunks and floaties!

Two square floor blocks connected by small bridges to the left of a pagoda standing tall on a structure, the block further left lower than the one in the middle of the screen. (In this particular pic, the pagoda appears as if it would be a walkoff, but my version of it would have the size of it decreased to have a little breathing room on the right edge of the screen.) To the left of and under the bridges and blocks is the large pool of water you would see in the original game, just barely level with the lower block. in fact, just like Sonic Colors, you can walk on the water if you run across it, though if you stop running for any reason other than to turn around while still running, you immediately start falling down to the blast zone. No infinite double jumps in water for you, though.

Speaking of the water, after a half-minute or so, the tide will rise up to completely fill the screen with water, similar to my example pic. Don't worry about drowning, though, it's as safe to fight underwater as it is to fight in space! When the tide rises, there will be a stake-like platform that also rises up to level with the lower platform, acting as both a wall and platform for lower in the stage. When you go underwater, rising tide or no, your fall speed and horizontal movement decrease, and your jump height increases. However, your horizontal launch distance decreases and upward launch distance increases, so enjoy the extra midair freedom, because it'll be that much easier to KO you from the top of the screen and harder to KO from the sides. When another half-minute passes, the water will lower back down, letting players fight like normal again, and the water goes back down to where you can run on it.

Sample Music:
Aquarium Park: Act 1 (Since the music to each act in the original game is various renditions of the same general music, I used the Act 1 edition as the most "vanilla" version, with the intention that Smash makes it's own take on the theme.)
Starlight Carnival: Act 3
Reach for the Stars <Original>
Aquarium Park (Sonic Simulator Edition) <Original>

Unlock condition:
Summon Starfy from the Assist Trophy as Sonic 10 times

Just saying, you should try at least using Paint or Photoshop to draw a few lines where everything would be on the picture.

I'd definitely recommend going into Paint or Photoshop to make some markings or something as well. It really helps visualize the stage structure more than even the best description can do.

I've semi-recreated yours using mostly sprites from Sonic 2.

I didn't recreate the blue background thing perfectly because that was going to be a huge pain so I just haphazardly did that one... But I figured you'd enjoy. You should describe what happens on the stage here though instead of on the link.

Edit- I'd just be careful that this stage isn't the same cat as Super Smash Flash 2's version of Casino Night Zone. It's KINDA similar so I'd just recommend caution, lol

Thank you for making it look better. :)

Time to explain:
The bumper will deal 1-3% and moves from left to right.

Just like in the real Sonic games, you can enter the slot-machine.
You can get damage, health (stanima), stocks/lifes, KO.s (time) and coins/rings (coin mode).
You cant get hit while using it and you have to wait 1-3 minutes so you cant spam it over and over again.

You can not fall off the stage, but you also have 2 platforms.
So the only way to KO is left, right or up.

Okay, BadStages Grades are in! Just a note: Stages were just graded out of 10. 10 = a really terrible stage, 1 = a stage that isn't that bad. In order to make the entries fair, the two submitted by judges (aka mine and kevandre's) were graded out of 15 instead of out of 10, but were only graded by the judges who did not make the stage. (that way it still totals out to 30 total points)

Now then, on to the grades!

Sakurai's Cat Destination (D-idara)

Score: 7/10

This stage… oh my god, it’s hilarious. I would play this stage just to see it in action. Had to take a few points off because of that. This stage would be so infuriating to actually play a match on, so that boosted your score a bit.

Blank Space (theultradeino)

Score: 9/10

Probably the worst stage on the board. There’s the inherent humor of just spawning and dying repeatedly, but that would get old really fast. Beyond that, there’s so little to talk about. No platforms, no background, nothing but blandness. A terrifically terrible stage.

Pokefloats 2 (kevandre)

Score: 10/15

So, first off, props on making a stage that’s just a bad stage instead of a joke stage. Not that there’s anything wrong with joke stages, but they have an inherent likability in their humor, making them less bad as a result. However, your stage… honestly, I think it looks kind of fun. I liked Pokefloats in Melee, so the thought of getting another one with pokemon from ALL generations seems cool to me. Sadly, this hurts your score. No form of competitive play could ever take place upon this stage, though, so that helps a bit. In the end, a 10/15 is nothing to sneeze at. It’s pleasantly bad.

Blank Space = 6. Pretty open, hazard free stage. Competitive community would totes love it.

Koridai = 2. Pretty playable stage, not "worst" in any way. Just based on something awful.

Sakurai's cat Destination = 8. I ALMOST HAD A SEIZURE.

I don't know how to judge!

Blank Space by TheUltraDeino
Score:
11/10
Notes: Blank Space would actually be quite the interesting stage if it were, say, an endless freefall in which all attacks were aerial. But how can one plummet to their death "until the end of the match" if one doesn't die until the match ends? Sure, this could work in timed matches, but in a timeless stock match, it's an endless paradox. The match won't end until the players die, but they "plummet to [their] death" until the match ends. Thus, there's no way to end a stock match here. Not only does nobody get to fight, but nobody can even win (or lose), so this stage is absolutely horrendous as it takes away the key gameplay aspects that make Smash Bros. what it is. There's no fighting, no victor, and no fun. The stage's paradox is so powerful that it could possibly cause the game system to explode upon trying to load a match. The icing on the crabcake that is this stage is its ability to be so terrible with so few details. It doesn't even include a poorly-constructed picture or header.

Poké Floats 2 by Kevandre
Score: 5
/15
Notes: Kind of ironic how not-bad this stage is. Believe it or not, Poké Floats isn't a very hated stage. It used to be tournament legal, and a lot of people want it to return. What you give us here is just a more well thought-out, balanced, entertaining version of the stage. While it lacks some of the charm of the original (the multiple Unown, the 3 Porygon moving in a straight line, etc), it crams a massive amount of fanservice into a single stage, representing all generations of Pokémon equally. The stage has so much going on that you can't even complete a whole cycle in a default time match. There aren't even any experience-ruining hazards. You just move from one float to the next. Some of them, like Avalugg and Seismitoad, are actually really creative. The only real problem is that the stage is too big for its own good, and isn't very creative, since you're essentially just copying a stage which was already born out of an obvious lack of creativity (or perhaps, too much drugs creativity).

Koridai by TheMarioaddict
Score:
3/15
Notes: I believe I shared my thoughts for this one back when it was posted. There's actually nothing wrong with it. Its worst offense is being a little bland. If you thought the source game alone was enough to taint it, sorry to tell you that I actually want the CD-i games to be represented. This is a terrible stage at being terrible. Now go scrub all the floors in Hyrule.

Sakurai's Cat Destination by D-idara
Score:
10/10
Notes: I see you went with both the "irrefutably OP hazard" and "game-crashing" routes. Definitely a stage I'd give a 0 playability score to during a normal set. The parallel walls are obnoxious, but because of their nature, don't allow for infinites, which are even more obnoxious than OP hazards. Granted, while the stage is absolutely terrible in every way imaginable, I think it lacks the subtle yet sheer wit of TheUltraDeino's Blank Space, which is so cleverly bad that it is neither funny nor appreciable. I will say that this stage is more likely to induce cancer than Blank Space, however.

Props to Bridges for going super in depth with the comments

Totals:

TheUltraDeino: 26/30
Kevandre: 15/30
TheMarioAddict: 5/30 (:C)
D-idara: 25/30

And the winner, by a single point, is...

THEULTRADEINO, WITH BLANK SPACE! CONGRATULATIONS, YOUR STAGE SUCKS!

Here's my idea:
BLANK SPACE:
There is nothing in this stage, not even any platforms, as soon as you spawn, you plummet to your death until the match ends.

New Star Fox stage confirmed.
Or maybe Generator C from Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

If it makes you feel better, I only barely lived. My seizure was swift and destructive. I accept it as revenge for subjecting you to eye cancer back with my Teleroboxer stage.

I claim the bonus award for my stage being not only unplayable but, apparently, also unreadable.
Ah, so your entry to the bad stage contest doesn't exist?
I think we have a winner.

Hey, stage contests goers. I was suddenly inspired to fix 75m. Here is the product of my inspiration:

Don't think a ton more needs to be said. I'll answer any questions.
