Isn't all of Super Smash Bros already a King of the Hill game? The whole purpose is to knock people off the stage
King of the hill means 1 on 1 battles. Where the one who wins plays the next match, the other go away. That's why it's called like this. If you defeat the king of the hill, then you become the king and you'll be the king til someone defeats you. It's an interesting game mode.

Not exactly. The purpose of King of the Hill is to defend a particular area, sure you'll still have to knock them off, but you'll have to stay at the one area, and K.Oing people won't matter.
Well, we definetely have different points of view... xD

Told this before but:

Brawl = Good cast of characters. Boring gameplay.
Melee = Awesome gameplay. Boring cast of characters, (and Mewtwo.)

So in all actually, both games are good. But aren't quite enough to keep me satisfied alone. Though, Melee is so old now, I feel there's little reward in improving on my game. I won't ever beat good players using Fox or Falco anyway. Not even when I improve my Sheik / Puff / Marth. I see more reward in pushing Diddy further in Brawl. Cause he has way more potential than potential top players are using him. So, I'd be far more inclined to improve my Brawl game over Melee. Even though I do prefer Melee's gameplay.

Is this contradicting myself?

I remember playing something similar when we had above 4 players. It's a decent rotation system to use.

@Diddy: Not at all. I feel somewhat the same way, although I do like Melee's cast quite a lot as is. I agree with the rest(minus who I play, generally) I felt 64 did a good job of both combinations myself. Good cast, good gameplay. Not bad for the first game.

._.

John, stop. You're just feeding him.

@ Demna: I had the same view of MK for the longest time when I cared about Brawl at that level. I think the pro-banners fudged their side of the argument when they kept bringing up MK's tournament performance and winnings as a large part of the reason why he should have been banned.

I also wanted to mention that HyperFalcon brought up a good point in her post about the Metaknight ban.

I saw that match, and it was still boring. Too much camping, stalling, and waiting. I wanna get in there and beat the snot out of people with well timed spaced and offensive maneuvering, not go back and forth. With Brawl, everyone just waited for me to come to them, and punished me. Because I didn't want to conform to camping, I quit, and a bunch of NorCal Brawl players did too, and we left for Melee, and never looked back.

And Brawl is definitely much inferior to Smash 64 and Melee as a competitive game (and I'd argue a casual game as well).
It depends on what you prefer.

Some people prefer the play style of competitive Brawl over competitive Melee.

John, is that awesome match with Phish-It's DK vs that Fox online somewhere? And did they get that rematch?

Actually, I remember King of the Hill as KingofPhantoms47 explained it. The only game I remember right now that uses the one you mentioned is Injustice, but that game is 1 vs 1 all time.

Yea, that sounds more fun that Kingofphantoms' explanation (no offense, Kingofphantoms)

Kind of, but if you had a pre-set hill you had to defend, it could be very interesting.

Yes you can the video. It's on the Evo 3rd stream, and probably on youtube. I'm sure you can find it somewhere.

And no, they didn't. The inevitable Armada/Dr. PP match in their same bracket caused both of them to get wiped out by Armada.

To be honest, you're the one acting like a jerk here right now.
Obviously you didn't read his post.

I'm indifferent to it, but I wanted to bury 'em per usual.

Okay, that's cool. People can enjoy what they like or prefer what they like (with stuff like that, which is menial), and they won't get a protest out of me.

Oh, I did. And you're being just as bad. The dismissal crap you're pulling isn't any better whatsoever.

So stop playing the good guy when you turned into the jerk right after.

Both of you have your opinions(which are to be respected), but all 3 games are excellent for all play regardless, and the sales and turn outs quite prove that. They're all great competitive and casual for the majority of people.

The Mew2king vs Salem set was boring....?

Well, it is your opinion and I respect your honesty. However, that last game was said to be the best game in Smash history so far by many people. In general, I think Brawl did succeed in the competitive aspect overall. I personally view Brawl as an enjoyable competitive game, and I think that Brawl requires more Mind games than Melee. In Melee, one read off a mind game can cause a combo dealing approximately 30-50% and a possible gimp. While in Brawl, more choices are based off of mindgames than combos (Ex: Falco's Shine to D-air combo). Again, I still think Melee beats Brawl competitive-wise, but Brawl isn't really as bad of a competitive game than you probably think.

Ugh, this topic became a SHELL of its former self. To be honest the discussion hasn't been going swimmingly, either.
Yes, I have a pun problem. What of it?

Speaking of armored animals that're awesome, here's the best ever.

I think a "Defend the Zone" mode could be pretty fun. Of course, in a game with so many projectiles it might be pretty interesting forcing someone to stay in a specific spot.
