Yes, the opposing team gets ***** so badly it's not even funny.
The game plays like Risk. The MC, Rance is on a quest to sleep with all the Princesses in JAPAN. He gets hired by Oda Nobunaga to help him during the Warring States period to help him conquer his opponents.
The mechanics are complex, and I can't really take the time to explain it all, but basically you have generals which you can recruit through out the game and they control a sizable force which determines their battle power. Each combat scenario is broken into both sides picking a max of 6 Generals and having them face off. If you win, you win part of a territory. Once you conquer all the parts, you win that province, if you conquer all the provinces, then you defeat an opposing shogun. Which means Rance gets to have sexy time with a princess. The game is broken into turns which play out like months, you have a limited number of actions in a month/turn (which you can increase), that includes attacking an opponent. During your turn you can do other things like explore secrets and even go on quests for rare items and exp. In addition, you can do things so that Rance will get satisfaction points (guess how), which allows you to purchase items and even recruit powerful generals.
There is one main plot, (I won't spoil it), with a huge plot twist, which will likely end with you and your army getting obliterated, as well as all your generals dying, forcing you to restart (everyone restarts their first run). The game focuses on time management the most, you really have to plan out your moves to make the most of them. By Turn 70, **** goes down, and if you aren't ready, you'll lose.
Beating the main quest unlocks 3 more alternate storylines, which you have to access by doing certain actions in the campaign. Likewise, beating the game and getting more character clears by endgame, gives you post-game points which will give you cool bonuses for the campaign. Likely, you'll spend most of your postgame exploring all the different options in the game, and trying to recruit and clear all of the generals.
