Sakurai: to offset Lucario's increased Aura power, we've implemented the random tripping feature from Brawl.

Quite fitting as he was one of the characters that joined during Btawl

....I'm going to hope that it's because of an off-panel banana peel from a soon to be revealed Diddy and not because Sakurai lied about removing random tripping....
http://kotaku.com/no-more-tripping-in-the-new-smash-bros-513187770 ...He did not actually say random tripping. People just think he implied it due to his tone. But who knows? Maybe he meant it. I hope he meant it, and I even think he did. But I nor anybody else knows what he meant, so... that's life.

Likewise, he's the developer and can change his mind, so he could be lying too in the end. But eh.

Hmm, by my testing, if a banana peel was thrown at him, he wouldn't trip forward like in the shot, he'd trip backward.
What if it's thrown towards his back? Would the banana peel have fallen far enough to have been hid on the screen?

Another few options that I would suggest is that it's just at the beginning of the animation so the banana peel didn't fly up from the floor yet or there's a new item that does it.

Perhaps I'm late into this conversation, but isn't it possible the banana was on the ground and he ran over it?

What if it was thrown from above?
Same animation. From what I can tell, only the random tripping causes a forward slip. Forced tripping causes a backwards slip.

If thrown behind him, he will turn around, and do the backwards slip.

Though, something interesting I found by testing Zelda's down-tilt (a move known to force tripping), in instances where the attack doesn't cause tripping, Lucario will occasionally keel over to the floor on his front paws as if he had the wind knocked out of him, then push himself up to recover.
This pic could be from that weak low attack damage animation.

We would see that banana peel if that was the case.
Would we? Or is the screen shot taken at just the right angle to hide it?

I'd like to bring to attention the item near his feet which is blacked out... Perhaps it's a leaf, but it appears to have a stem much like a Banana's.

Ah, to be honest, this reveal caught me off guard. I'm happy the bull**** leaks deconfirming Lucario have been hammered. Now then... better pour myself a cup of Mewtwo tears. Because this is gonna get ugly later. :troll:

What's the deal there?

Maybe an invisible Zelda did it(inb4CloakingDeviceisback).

I honestly love the tons of possibilities.

But why aren't we talking about how King Dedede is about to pound Lucario's butt like a nail? :troll:

Yeah... Something's up...

In the video, you can see where the black spot would be. There's nothing there...

Also, if people think Sakurai is going to recognize Brawl's 6th anniversary after essentially ignoring Smash Bros 15th, there is going to be a downpour of tears tonight.
No downpour of tears tonight... the trolls must be thirsty by now. :troll:

Why would he turn around if... Nevermind.

Regardless, I could see them pulling that off as we can't see anything below Lucario. Plus, Sakurai has staged harder to catch pictures like that.

To make people scramble to find something, there is a reflection off of Dedede's crown. See if you can find Diddy in it. :troll:

My honest belief that that black thing is a banana peel that has been 'censored' so that Diddy's*obvious* reveal isn't shown yet.

I don't see why Lucario means no Mewtwo. Heck, I'd kinda like to see Mewtwo return, and I don't see Lucario as a threat. I'm still indifferent towards him, but I don't consider Mewtwo's chances hindered in any way. He was almost in Brawl after all.

Sweet expressions all around. Even MEGAMAN has em! Makes Brawl look soul-less in comparison. :D

If anything, Lucario should give more reason for Mewtwo's return, considering that it dispels the (already idiotic) thought process that Lucario would be replaced "just like Mewtwo".

That, and....

Really though, the best thing about having another returning character that wasn't so obvious is to see Gamesradar's Smash Weekly cover it.

This guy's a saint!

I was still curious about something, so I looked through more of Lucario's animations and found something kinda funny.

This is one of Lucario's damage animations.

So, the picture that everyone thought was tripping was nothing special, and the picture no one thought was special actually was tripping. Figures.
