There isn't really any truly good translator since they often don't include cultural subtexts and who/what exactly the subject is. Japanese routinely leaves out the subjects unlike English.

I do use this http://www.excite.co.jp/world/ for when I need a quick yet rough translation.

I mostly translate through electric dictionaries. Mine doesn't provide a direct translation but translates words in the sentences.
