Thankfully as mentioned in this Sonic Lost World interview http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/interview/34730

Nintendo calls the shots if Sonic is gonna be there.

"All we can say is that we also think it would be awesome if he was in the next Smash Bros. So yea, but that's more of a question for Nintendo than us."
Coming from the producer of the Sonic series, that's definitely a good sign. His model from Lost World definitely looks like it would fit into Super Smash Bros. fairly well. Could probably just pull the models from Sonic Lost World for both platforms.
You make a good argument, and in hindsight that doesn't look good for Snake. Still thinking back a bit to Melee, I wouldn't think that having no gritty character like Snake to deal with was the reason Sakurai chose brighter colors. I'd say it was more along the lines of being a breath of fresh air/call back to Smash 64/HD graphics.

Maybe it's because of all the bright outdoor sections/Octocamo from MGS4, but I still can't help but personally think that Snake could pull off a brighter color pallet.
With Melee, Sakurai didn't even get the call from Kojima until after the game was well in development. He only had to concern himself with the Nintendo series, which is a tall order in and of itself. A large reason why this game is so bright is many of the sequels have been very colorful (Super Mario Galaxy, Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Kid Icarus: Uprising, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Kirby's Return to Dreamland), more so then I remember in times past.

What is the current topic? :p

After the drama in the Ridley thread last night, even a Fire Emblem discussion would be a breath of fresh air.

Took me a sec to think through, doesn't have to be specifically this level, but maybe something from this game:

Personally I think a such a stage would work well the 3DS cel shading.
I always wanted to play that game but I never had a PSP

Please tell me it isn't that slow though...

Nintendo needs to release TMNT and A Boy and His Blob on the virtual console so I can play my childhood favorites again

Isn't as good as the original to due a large amount of nitpicks, but it's worth playing IMO.

Thankfully, no it isn't that slow.

Quick review of PU that no one asked for:
+ Revamped levels
+ Extra weapons, stages, and bosses
+ Creation Mode
+ Multiple playable characters
+ Good Voice Acting
- Incredibly hard on higher difficulties
- Every new character bar Protoman (who's broken) is mostly garbage
- Old Mode should have just been a port of the original
- Challenge Mode is pointless due to free DLC and is ****ing hard
- New Physics

Honestly, Snake has bigger problems than brighter colors to deal with in regards to his inclusion.

His biggest issue is that Sakurai is likely not going to want to have four third-parties. We already know Mega Man is in and Pac-Man is guarantee due to the leak. If guests from previous games return, Sonic will get priority, no ifs, ands or buts. This leaves Snake at the bottom of the totem poll for consideration.

Problem with this is that we won't ever understand the magnitude of difficulty it takes to fit third-party characters. This applied to Sonic and especially Snake in Brawl and because of Sakurai commenting on fitting third-parties as "harder than making the game itself in some ways", this almost certainly applies to Mega Man and Pac-Man for SSB 3DS and Wii U as well. Throw in Sonic into that equation and that's three characters going through the incredibly difficult process of fitting in.

Now try adding Snake to that as well, who had to get disjointed hitboxes in order to fit in Brawl and would be a harder fit than those three? Sakurai has very, very good reasons to be conservative on adding third-parties and I don't think he wants to deal with nightmare of adding four third-party characters and balancing them properly against a 45+ character roster (transformation included).

Unless Sakurai is hell bent on bringing back every single Brawl veteran, Snake is likely not coming back. It's not hard to see why Snake and Toon Link are the easiest cuts to make (although I think Toon Link has a much better chance of getting in).

The first TMNT on the NES? I've been trying to beat that for awhile now... Whenever I'm left with one brother remaining I always think that this is what's actually going on behind the 8-bit screen. :c

The biggest problem with cutting Snake: He had the best and most unique moveset, skillset, and playstyle in Brawl out of all the unconfirmed newcomers (thanks to Olimar being confirmed), and it isn't even close.

But hey, let's keep ROB, since he's Nintendo-owned even though basically nobody likes him, and his moveset was generic trash because Nintendo fandumb.

Also, when are we gonna get music updates=??? We haven't even gotten a proper rip of the new Smash (Wii U) Main Theme dang it!!!

I wouldn't be absolutely certain Pac-Man is in because of that one leak, as someone else said, he may have mentioned a few characters that aren't in to keep out of trouble.

Though, it was said they were all going to be revealed at one time, so we might see them later.

As far as the potential new stage for Sonic the Hedgehog is concerned, I'd look for four possibilities:

1: HD Green Hill Zone
2: Wisp Planet
3: Windy Hill
4: City Escape

Whichever they might choose, they need to recognize that they omitted one of the best songs ever.

I think the battle against Chaos in the broken city would make a nice stage

Leaks are rarely half truths. Plus we have to remember that the person leaked it through NeoGAFs, where lying will get you a ban. I see no reason why he would be truthful about Mega Man, Wii Fit Trainer and Villager and then lie about Pac-Man, Little Mac and Mii. It wouldn't benefit him to do so.

Ah, didn't know that about NeoGAF.

Well the challenger approaching bar went back up on the site. Janky site needs to make up its mind what it wants to do.

He could be trolling; he could also have faulty sources.

Really, even though I think it is more likely true than false (especially since IMO Little Mac is near a lock and Miis are better off IMO), that rumor isn't too crazy, especially since the 2 crazy characters (the Villager [whom he referred to as the Animal Crosser] and the Wii Fit Trainer) were confirmed first.

Gosh, I gotta get back in connection with my people who know people involved with smash.

Oh my gosh I'd love this, Generations version of that fight was also amazing in how it was a Boss Level of sorts also. [Merits to the first as well of course] You'd have chaos striking out at players every so often maybe? You'd be on the broken roads of station square but Chaos would cause waves or something which would change the layout, think semi Castle Siege maybe?

Chrome. Weird, I just refreshed the site and it's not there anymore...
I wonder why it's glitching up so much and I wonder if Sakurai has noticed this as a potential problem? There's no way this hints towards anything.

Also, this is relatively far back, but I agree with --- in that this game should definitely have customizable music. Seriously, this needs more support.

Yeah, sadly I wasn't fortunate enough to get a sneak preview of anything. Cool stuff like that never happens to me. The bar just linked back to Luigi.

As for why the site is so glitchy? Any number of reasons.

Funny how all of us are waiting just to end up seeing Mario and Luigi posing.
