Very few things he has said has ever been clear, to my knowledge at least. The amount of research people put into his quotes is likely due to how vague they are, as far as I know it's been this way for a while.

Do you think some words may be lost in translation though?
Which is ironic because Sakurai doesn't want people to overread his quotes, yet he leaves us with no choice but to do so.

I personally don't think much is lost in translation, but I don't speak Japanese. I think it's him being flat out vague. I know Japanese is filled with a lot of ambiguity, but I never get this level of ambiguity from other developer interviews. They're typically more open.

People need to chill. Ridley hasn't been disconfirmed; and if the Ness update fiasco is anything to go by, we probably won't fully know until later whether he is or is not playable. For all we know Ridley could be both playable and a background character akin to Red Arremer or Tron Bonne in MvC3, we just don't know. Things look grim for Flying Barney given the insinuation, but nothing is certain just yet -- all this from someone indifferent to Ridley.

What if Ridley from Other M was in the stage's Background, but the playable version was Meta-Ridley from Metroid Prime 3, or Vice Versa...? That is, I will definetly not assume anything, but as a thought, in my opinion, and not to sound big headed, but it's interesting...

Maybe there is a new stage hazard feature. During some character stages, a character from that world will present him or herself as a stage hazard. But only if they are not a selected from the roster before the match.

Well to be clear, no one is out right saying he is disconfirmed (At least in these last 2 pages). We are saying things aren't looks too bright, but there isn't anything substantial that puts a nail in his coffin.

If he doesn't want us to overread them, then if only he knew what goes on around here. If that's the case, I guess he just assumes we're all just making assumptions based on one thing rather than creating large therories by looking into every little detail.

Why Meta-Ridley though? I don't think it'll happen unless it's where Ridley shows up if he's not fighting, but disappears other wise.

Maybe this is what Sakurai wanted all along

Well, if Ridley is indeed playable this stage would make sense as his turf.

Now when is Bowser going to get his ****ing castle!

Some of the posts over tha past five pages sure could have fooled me... Either way, I think people are just taking this too seriously. Me? I'm just sitting back watching everything unfold. Nobody cares when someone like Toon Link or Wolf are potentially absent, because that is all just a part of the plan. But when Sakurai posts one picture of a Metroid stage and makes a passing comment about Ridley, suddenly everyone loses their minds.

Good idea, but it would be bad for competitive play.
If the function could be turned off, then it would be a great idea.

It's not just about Ridley either, as prievously said, Sakurai's quotes are always quite vague, people tend to get used to things after it continues to happen, this is no exception. One comment and a stage relating to a highly wanted character can cause a large amount of overthinking and freak outs.

Moveset... o/////o That's a good idea to try and see if there are possibilities, if that's okay to say.

Speaking of, would it be okay if I tried? I don't want to step on any toes by doing so, especially because I'm no expert

I don't think me sounding off on what I THINK is the case, be considered as taking this Ridley issue too seriously (I can only speak for myself on this). Whether we sound off on the subject matter or not, the situation will unfold regardless if the people stating their opinions realize it or not..

And I think saying "Nobody cares" when characters like Toon Link (Falkoopa says hi) or Wolf are absent is a generalization, because I know there are groups of people that support just about every character under the sun. Someone will always care, which is what Sakurai touched on in a article a while back.

Lets see...

For his standing pose, he could be hunched over to a good extreme, his body facing the Camera, but his head facing the nearby opponents/ direction the played is directing him. His arms could be drooping down between his legs as he sways back and forth violently, occasionally snarling at the opponents and spreading his wings out behind him in a way that, he shifts his pose so that for a brief moment, his body is facing the controlled direction with his wings flared behind him on the 2D plane, which he then repeats and cycles as he stands.

Normal- Swipe of claw

Normal Combo- Swipe, hook by opposite hand whilst his head lowers, and finally jolt upwards resulting in the back of his head digging into opponent with an uppercut

Forward Tilt- Closes both hand claws in on his opponent with considerable wind up animation, but swift hitting animation

Down Tilt- Tail Sweep

Up Tilt- Spreads wings to the sky

Smash Forward- Opens arms widely, winding up his wings behind him before closing them in on the opponent in front of him

Smash Down- Upgraded Tail Sweep that Smashes both forward and behind (Ala, Yoshi, only he drags his tail on the ground, lifting the material)

Smash Up- Winds up his tail, ala Super Metroid's opening boss fight, and slams the opponent (More effective on Opponents behind and above him, as the hit box has very limited reach in front)

Aerial Normal- (Burst his wings out widely and furiously, letting out a slight shreik, ala again Super Metroid)

Aerial Foward/Behind/ Up- Slams with Tail ala Super Metroid's opening Boss Fight again. Long start-up, but incredible power

Aerial Down- Pogo Tail (First hit bounces Ridley back into aerial position, second, after used, puts him in helpless state)

Special Neutral- Fire Ball(?); Can be aimed 45 degrees or below in front of him, and can be used up to 2 times (3 times if second has impact). Very light and fast projectiles, but are also not damage heavy

Side Special- Command Grab; Ridley grabs the opponent, and can move with them for a limited range, dragging them along any passing surfaces. Opponents can escape as they do normal Grabs. Causes Sparks to fly that do minimal damage to passer by opponents behind, and can damage other opponents slightly more that are caught in the drag's animation from in front

Down Special- Ridley stomps the ground furiously, winding up for a sudden burst attack into the air a slight distance while causing great damage in collision. Cannot be used for recovery, as when used in the air, results in self-meteor effect. Cannot be canceled when coming down or going up; only on the ground by hitting the command a second time.

Up Special- Same flying animation as the Down special, but without wound up power.

You want to know what I'm most upset about after this latest update? The fact that we have to deal with another lava Metroid stage, and from Other M no less. I want my Skytown Elysia stage Sakurai!

It is. I'm just bitter against any Metroid stage that isn't Skytown Elysia. There will probably be a Metroid Prime 3 stage, I'm just scared Sakurai will go the Frigate Orpheon route again.

The one thing I do like about the new stage is the size of the arena. Again, it looks like my chief complaint about the stages in Brawl are being addressed. Step in the right direction.

Skytown is kind of a random choice, IMO. Phaaze... Pirate Homeworld... I dunno.

Much better than anything Star could ever imagine probably.

Listen guys, Sakurai is actually my dad's friend. Ridley will not be a playable character in the new Smash; he WILL, however, be a stage hazard.

Now go home.

You know what would be an interesting change to the usual lava metroid stage? Maridia, SAND AND WATER.

VERY nice in every way...! <8//3 Here's hoping your training goes wonderfully as you deserve, and as a result, here's knowing you'll Rock as Kirby in the next Entry

Aww...no one commented on my Newcomer approaching thing

Is it because I only had it one cycle?

I should add more cycles so you can see it actually loops

Thank you. I've been playing as Kirby since I first started playing the Smash series. Whenever I tried to play another character, I would get my butt handed to me; but when I got back on Kirby, it was like coming back to out stretched arms. I just hope they keep Kirby intact enough in the next game. Cheers! :)

(Kirby Air-ride FTW)

Grimer approves. :088:

In all seriousness, this would be a great change.

Though, I still hate having to play through that area in SM, water levels are always insane.
I just find the area slow ^^; it would probably be cool for smash though. If you want a fast water level in smash though let's just have Hydrocity Zone come in for Sonic's stage when he returns! [doubtful that would be the new sonic stage but lol I can dream]
