It doesn't premiere for a few more weeks, until I start college. It looks crazy and hilarious just like any modern day Cartoon Network show and looks even better than their last show Secret Mountain Fort Awesome. This is going to be the new Cow & Chicken of this era. The promo with him and his magic bag being beat up by a gigantic green monster was ****ing hilarious. Too bad many CN fans nowadays are ****ting on it and Clarence, just like they did for Adventure Time and Regular Show. Nostalgiatards piss me off (I avoid the them nostalgia***s for obvious reasons)!
It was okay I guess. But towards the "nostalgia-tards", there always needs to be change. I too miss CN's past shows, but they can't stay on forever. New shows replace classics, the new shows become classics - "Ashes to ashes". It's ironic.

Shows can't stay on forever. I mean, I'll really miss shows like Adventure Time and Gravity Falls when they're done, and I REALLY miss old Disney cartoons and shows, but they can't keep going forever. People who complain about that sort of thing need to either need to just avoid those shows if they don't care for them and continue to live in the past, or stop living in the past and gives new shows and cartoons a try.

I'd like to continue this conversation, but we should stay on topic.

Doesn't butthurt usually connote being upset WITHOUT MUCH WARRANT? I mean, shouldn't Ridley's possible (probable?) exclusion worry most people here? If RIDLEY can't get in, that doesn't bode well for pretty much any character if one of the most "deserving" couldn't make it. Like Shorts said, supporters of K. Rool, Palutena, Mewtwo, Takamaru, and Little Mac took an indirect hit today too. Splash damage.
This. I'm honestly starting to worry that the only newcomers will be the 3 currently announced, Little Mac, Pacman, and Mii. I can see it now...

Alright. We can move on from Ridley's playability corpse.
If you just mean move on from the subject, and not from the hopes of having him as a PC... then ok. But I'm never making the mistake of accepting that a character's chances of making it are gone ever again.

In the Dojo days when Lucas was revealed there was nobody that would let me think that there was still a chance for a Ness return without them telling me otherwise. There was so much negativity towards a Ness return that people managed to convince me that Ness was gone despite the fact that I strongly disagreed at the time. When Ness was revealed I was more angry than happy. I wanted to go to every single person who broke down my hopes of one of my mains returning and Falcon Punch them straight in the gut. I was furious when I should have been happy.

I don't care as much about Ridley as I do about Ness, but I'm not "moving on" until Sakurai says Ridley is not in the game (playable) himself.

I'm not too worried about it, personally. We got more than 6 newcomers in Brawl, I highly doubt we'd only get as much as we've seen during the first trailers and the other characters mentioned in that rumor.

I'm to the very least, expecting Dixie Kong or/and K. Rool, along with a few other characters. Maybe a second third party.

Honestly it seems like a huge downfall if Ridley is a stage hazard, I personally believe that Ridley is going to be announced as a Newcomer next :)

I hope I'm proven wrong and he is in fact a newcomer. I hope tomorrow will put an end to this.

I'd say she is about fifty/fifty, but it really depends upon whether my prediction comes true or not.

I'm going to talk about my "theory" for a minute. This isn't going to be popular, but if I cared about that I wouldn't support half of the characters I do.

My theory is that Dark Samus has a very good chance if Sakurai decides he does not want to make Ridley playable. I don't believe for a second that the Nintendo Power article, where Sakurai was asked about Ridley, is what people think it is. It reads as somebody who is laughing off a suggestion rather than discussing technical feasibility, and after seeing his appearance in Brawl it is no wonder why he would think that. To add to this it a little known fact that Metroid is not exactly the high profile series in Japan. Not to say it isn't popular, but it is not what it is here in the West and generally lags behind other Nintendo series. This isn't to lay out a case about why Ridley shouldn't be in, I think he should, but just pointing out how he could miss the boat.

Now, time to tie into my theory. What I think could happen is that Sakurai observes a very legitimate demand for another Metroid character coming from the West, despite having two characters already (Zero Suit Samus counts as a separate character). After considering Ridley for a time he is ultimately going to pass over him, again, due to the "challenge" of balancing him [crap reasoning, but whatever]. Instead he will look through the series for another character, if any, he can use. He'll look at the semi-latest game in the Prime series and find Dark Samus. Seeing her as an easier character to implement Sakurai and Namco will proceed with development.

Months later, or whenever Dark Samus is revealed, there will be immense backlash across various Super Smash Bros forums, as well as a growing fear of Ridley not making it onto the roster. Especially if she is even remotely "clone-y."

Finally, all of the horror of the Ridley community will be culminated when Sakurai reveals the Geothermal Power Plant stage, and just like the stage in Dead or Alive Dimensions, Ridley is a background hazard. All hell will break loose and will probably be the anti equivalent to Sonic's Brawl reveal. Super Smash Bros 4 will be deemed a joke by angry fans and will proceed in turning their seething anger onto the "less important semi clone POS". It will become one of those days that live in cyber infamy. For those without any vested interest, it'll probably be hilarious, but for everyone else not as much. Either that or he just doesn't show up at all, in which case there is still resentment.

Or both of them get in and everyone is happy. Or Ridley alone makes it in and what everyone expects happens.

Starphoenix, Jul 25, 2012
I'm 99.9% positive the Other M stage is going to be the Geothermal Power Plant.

I personally don't like Ridley's Other M design, and I know a lot of others don't. Course if he did use that design if he was a newcomer, I wouldn't care less, solely because he'd be playable, that's enough to make up for his design. (so long as he stays true to the Metroid games moveset-wise, and why wouldn't he?)

And while I don't really care for the design, this version of his theme MUST get in-

Just felt like commenting on this, I don't hate the new shows because they are new, I hate them because they are awful. In my opinion!

From the little I've watched of the new shows it's nothing but toilet humour, fart jokes, and general gross out ****. Someone told me that Adventure Time was supposedly a good show, and I gave it a chance, the first episode I caught playing had the two main characters chasing some thing and farting on it, amazing. I doubt I'd be a so called "nostalgiatard" since I also disliked similar shows from my childhood, Cow and Chicken being one of them (oh god that red guy). Just because someone dislikes the new shows, doesn't mean they dislike them because they are new, saying so is simply closed minded.

CN's shows are getting worse and worse, Nick is 90% Spongebob now (which is also getting worse), and Disney Channel is mostly live action crap. /rant

I think Sakurai will play with our minds for a while, as in we won't get the legit confirmation until possibly a month after.

Mostly this. I like Spongebob still, but I HATED Cow and Chicken when I was younger. (super sturdy flameshield up)

I think Adventure Time is good though, personally. At least unlike Cow and Chicken there is actually a bit of emtional based episodes while retaining the humor.

I personally think Disney Channel's live action shows haven't really been doing that well lately, (Dog with a Blog is a big mistake) except for Good Luck Charlie, and that show is (sadly) ending in this season, as far as I know.

You practically act like you are everybody's mother in this site. Like the character Uncle Grandpa. :happysheep:
Oh gawd don't put that on me, I'm the babysitter at most. My maternal instincts are faulty anyway, what you're probably witnessing is my general condescension towards everyone.

Ah cool, people were worrying that the context of the Japanese post might be different but I was too lazy to find it...

"From Metroid other M, the Pyrosphere. Samus's trauma might appear..."

Kinda interesting, the reference to Samus's trauma make's it seem more likely that it's just a reference to Samus's freak-out in other M than hinting at a character or stage hazard, but at the same time referring to referring an individual as "someone's trauma" makes more sense in Japanese than in English, and if I'm not mistaken 登場(appearance) usually refers to a character appearing in a show/play/ect. rather than something like memories or an emotion surfacing. Also might is "kamoshirenai" which implys a fairly low probability but I don't think that's important at all.

My Japanese ain't all that great in terms of subtle contexts though so someone who's better at it should try breaking it down.
If you played Other M, Samus comes into the Pyrosphere and Ridley appears like a demon out of Hell. He never appeared out of a hole in the wall, but he does make one. Instead, he appears from below the platform as seen in this video. I get a feeling that if Ridley is indeed playable, they're going to do a throwback to this scene by how he appears.

Am I the only person that thinks people are taking this thing in the wrong direction and are looking too deeply into nothing?
Smash fanbase in a nutshell.

Wait a minute. Aren't there different Ridleys? (Theory - tell me if I'm wrong, I've never played a Metroid game)
In "Metroid other M", Ridley forms from different creatures, eventually ending in Ridley itself. From what we can see, he is very large; big enough to pick her up with his hand as if a doll-toy. From the first game, Ridley is a little bigger than Samus. If they use the Ridley from the first game, maybe he could work as a character.
Bowser has been multiple sizes in different games and so has Ridley. If he's playable, they WILL find a way to make him fit in. I personally think he'll be a head taller than Bowser.

It did take a while until Sakurai showed more of the Pilot Wings and Reset Bomb stage though, so yeah we might actually have to wait a couple weeks to see more of this stage.

I've understood the whole bowser thing, he's a magical-talking-monster-lizard-thing. I agree, and think Ridley should be hunched over like Charizard, and a head taller than Bowser.

Honestly, after reading the caption on today's pic, I got more of a feeling that Sakurai meant the stage gave off that feeling rather than revealing the stage hazard.

But maybe that's just me.

I hope Sakurai throws a curveball shows Mother Brain as the background hazard, even though it doesn't appear in that area in the game.

Smash fanbase in a nutshell.
I believe it's because they're so used to Sakurai's quotes and after everything with Brawl and whatnot. That's what tends to happen for a lot people when they really get into something, they look more deeply into it than they should (I admit I did as well today) and depending on the results or what happens prior to looking into it, they'll either be excited or concerned. Then, they freak out about it before looking into it a bit more and then accepting what may happen and then proceed to move on with life.

I wish we'd get a new Pokemon Stadium as a daily picture which is captioned "Heroes always return." ;)

Anyways, do you guys know the name of the song in the last match (FD) ?

He isn't happening folks. Sakurai shut the Animal Crossing door with Brawl and I don't see it being opened anytime soon.

Sakurai: The most important thing was simply whether or not it would make players happy. I mean, there are lots of popular games with characters that just aren’t meant for fighting and were too hard to incorporate into the Smash Bros. title. Heading the list of these characters are the ones from the games we just mentioned, Nintendogs and Animal Crossing. Because these are games played by lots of people, I knew players would be happy to see them make an appearance. This is why I wanted to find a way to put them in the game and why they became Assist Trophies. Assist Trophy Video.

It doesn't help that Sakurai can be notoriously vague about what the hell he's talking about. Lots of other developer interviews from Japan I've seen are either more straightforward or are trollish about it. Sakurai's like a professional poker player.

Very few things he has said has ever been clear, to my knowledge at least. The amount of research people put into his quotes is likely due to how vague they are, as far as I know it's been this way for a while.

Do you think some words may be lost in translation though?
