Well his statements never say that he is or isn't unlockable, it just says they never used to reveal Luigi before the game's release.
But the reason why I pretty sure its the first one is because of "But why not" Which is a phrase one would use after a statement to make an exception.

I guess it's more of a tradition for the game, just like how Mario, Pikachu, Link and Kirby are usually the first revealed in a Smash game.

Well your saying that under the assumption that everyone who will pick up and play through SSB4 has played the other versions of smash.

I don't see a point in making all earlier hidden guys starters. Some, but not all. I don't mind newcomers as starters, or some veterans as unlockable. I'd always prefer to keep Ganondorf and one of the new Pokemon additions unlockable.

- That's a good question. A question that neither me or you (or our parents that work at Nintendo) can answer.
- Whether it should be done or not, or even if it is dull reason or not, this is how Nintendo seems to operate. Some things change and somethings don't.
- Key word is most, not everyone did; and even if they did, like I said somethings change and somethings don't.

If Plusle and Minun did get into Smash with one of them providing hitstun while the other has the K.O power, each palette swap they get should have two versions, one that has Plusle in the front, (aka human player when you choose them) and the other has Minun in the front, allowing for a good amount of strategies for players who prefer one playstyle over the other.

Well, I think what would happen is they would have a down B that "tags them out" (much like how a tag works in DKC) while the other one is the CPU character.

And I also think on the menu you could choose which one to start out with, much like what you can do for the Pokémon Trainer's Pokémon.

I want Mega Snorlax looking like one big, muscular, lean mother****ing badass.

...this needs to be a thing. Snorlax teaming with Slaking (also in Super Saiyan buff mode) would be AMAZING!!!!

I'd prefer the original 8 as starters with an option to bulk unlockables until you are ready to see them. I hate so much of the game being thrown at me at once. Not saying it's reasonable, just a preference.

Well think about it; if half the newcomers are hidden, and all of the previously hidden characters are hidden, plus all the 3rd party characters, well, that's half of the roster.

I don't know about you, but I want around 2/3rd's of the roster starters and out there for advertisement if I am Nintendo.

I mean, if we have a 51 character roster with 2/3rd's of the roster starters, we'd have 17 hidden characters, which is more than Melee or Brawl had by a large margin.

Heck, Brawl actually had only 1 more hidden character than Melee (from 12 to 13). Seeing as how we are likely to probably get 2-4 3rd party characters, if we have say 14 hidden characters (thus continuing the 1 more hidden character per smash game trend), that leaves just 10-12 hidden characters left.

What if the Rainbow Star got in as an item? It would be the Starman's equivalent to the Hammer's Golden Hammer. The Rainbow Star not only gives you invincibility, but also gives you a speed boost, a spinning jump that boosts your forward distance, and allows you to damage players just by making contact with them. It's rare too, like the Golden Hammer.

Time for low tiers to be topic!

1. Well, I do play multiple "bad" characters: Roy, Lucas, Link, Jiggs (N64), Bowser. But I do play Roy and Lucas excessively
2. Hell yeah.
3. Roy: I originally played as him to rival my friend who always played as Marth (I always teased her about Marth's girliness lewl). But his character and playstyle grew on me. Plus I love fire users in video games. So perhaps that's also why Roy intrigued me.
Lucas: I've always thought Lucas was weird/nerdy in the beginning. But once I knew about all the **** that happened in Mother 3, I kinda appreciated Lucas more and had this passion to play as him. He naturally clicked with me once I tried him, so I guess I play as him because I love his character and playstyle.
4. Most of the time, the character's playstyle naturally clicks with me, or I find them really fun. Or I just really like the character. But I think it's a mixture of all of these. I've never been to a tournament, however, if I ever were to, I'd use a character that I'm comfortable with, but is generally better (as I find Lucas would be more risky). Those characters would probably be my secondaries: Marth, Toon Link, or Pit. Funny how they're all higher on the tier list...
5. Usually, if I don't play as Lucas, I like to practice my secondaries. However, I do like to try characters I haven't played for a while (or that I suck as) to keep things fresh. Although I do play Lucas a lot, I like to balance with different characters, as I do find things get kinda dry if I just focus on one character. Also, I like to get experience with all characters (not in Smash, but in any fighting game), even if it's just the basics

Seeing as some characters don't have 3DS pictures yet,there's a possibility that characters will have more pictures in the future.

I presume the Wii U version is getting a lot more details then the 3DS is because of the generally more powerful hardware allowing things to be implemented much more easily. Either that, or just simply because it looks more pleasing to the eyes.

Also, the Luigi pictures (along with others) can be found on the SSB wiki with decent resolutions.

I think it is a little bit of both hardware muscle and visual prowess why we tend to see more Wii U caps.

Seeing how I really have no interest in the 3DS version, I'm fine with this. But will see characters rendered in the 3DS versions eventually.

Yeah, Dixie and Diddy teaming takes away from their uniqueness, while the Ice Climbers, them teaming is all that is unique about them. As for Plusle and Minun, them being a tag team and acting differently (ie: one having an up smash that kills, the other, one that does a lot of hitstun) would be something unique, and the two together make each other go from fairly unique to very unique.

As for the triple team, eh, it's just an idea. I mean, we already have a three way tag in/tag out team via the Pokémon Trainer, and honestly, it is an idea that is extremely overlooked and yet remains very possible, especially since we have no real new Pokémon in Gen V or Gen VI (so far) that looks absolutely destined to be playable in smash.

Triple teams? I would suggest Commanding Officer. Commanding Officer is the Advance Wars rep... but he is not Andy even though he looks like Andy and "Andy" would stay in the background, issuing commands to a trio of Infantry units. The Infantry units move together as a team and shoot stuff a la Contra games.
