Are we even playing the same game then? I took some time out of my game to try to actually feel for the traction and it just wasn't there at all. Was it just reduced to such a degree whereas it's hardly noticible?

And I know I had my fair share of deaths from star coins and more but, these deaths never came from it being challenging; rather from me being reckless, not paying that much attention, misplacing jumps; generally just human error and me not taking the game seriously which it has truly driven me to that point around world 6.

I tested it again, and it's an almost unnoticeable amount. When you run and turn around, Luigi takes a fraction of a second longer. I may be incorrect and he may be the same, but it feels slightly longer

For some reason, I've had him slide trying to stop occasionally but it might have been a glitch or something. For that reason I thought he had bad traction.

See, that's what I was thinking too, that there's a few extra frames of him sliding and maybe a bit more height on his jump when I tested it but in the end, I realized I'm just seeing it as that way because I'm so used to what Luigi does OR the difference is so minute that it really doesn't even matter, thus me figuring he's more a palette swap than an individual character. And yes, the slide thing happened to me once in a blue moon as well. There's clearly some sort of inconsistent code going on here.

I am not incredible hardcore sexy genius gamer, so I find the game to be a stimulating challenge. I think it's a fine difficulty. The first couple of worlds aside which are extremely simplistic, I don't feel like this game is particularly easier than...well, any Mario game since 3. I die a lot in this and the Galaxy games, but it's never an insurmountable task to beat the levels... it's Mario. It is designed for the most broadest, mass appeal ever. I was not expecting Mario Souls or Lost Levels 3D when I bought this game. So I'm happy with the price I paid.

I do wish Mario moved better and didn't have a gimped moveset though...I also hate the charging backflip.

@Pscyho: In Mario 3, there was a regular racoon leaf as well. The Tanooki suit does not appear until later levels and IIRC, the powerup was NOT a leaf.

Yeah, I meant that the Tanooki Suit doesn't turn you to stone.

This so hard. And the slide jump's distance is so little that it hardly has purpose or good use for anything.

Also I wonder why they removed the triple jump?

I actually just discovered a rolling long jump that goes a tad farther than the regular long jump. sometimes it's kinda a pain in the *** to pull off but it's definitely more helpful than the regular long jump.

I heard that there was a secret level in Mario Land.

I beat the game with BOTH Mario and Luigi, and collected ALL the star coins.

Apparently that is not enough. I looked it up and you have to get a golden flag (Highest point) in every level and beat every level with both Mario AND Luigi. I figured that when it showed who you beat the level with and if you got the highest flag on the level select screen.

Yeah I heard you must pretty much beat the entire game, perfect and all, without losing more than 5 lives to unlock that level. Pretty much don't let the golden leaf appear.

Hum.

Well it depends what you like, I suppose. Do you prefer racing or platforming? That and, MK7 is not out yet where SM3DL is.

I've gotten golden leaves...

But what I read is you just have to have 5 stars to get it, not 5 shiny stars

You just need 5 stars, not shiny. Shiny is just for bragging.

If you have a Tanooki Suit, getting gold flags is easy mode.

I don't settle for anything less than Statue Tanooki Suit

Because the little bandana makes them look awesome

*should read the thread* I got this for myself for my birthday, and I don't know if this was mentioned but this game feels extremely slow at the beginning but then it picked up speed and I was happy.

Only real complaint I had besides that was the fact that only a few times did I have the camera be at an awkward angle so I died because I couldn't see where the ground was. Other than that I adore this game and it and I totally recommend it to anyone who likes platforming/has a 3DS/loves Mario.

☯ I played this game non-stop since Friday. Only thing I have to do is to unlock the secret level which I have to complete every stage as Mario and Luigi. It's going to be a long day. ^_^;

☯ I really love this game, and the final battle was one of my favorites in the Mario series.

I wish it was more challenging and unique.

It's suppose to be reminiscent of Super Mario Bros 3 but doesn't come close to that games charm

It felt more like an accomplishment to win Mario Bros 3. Sometimes with this game, it almost seems like a chore. Especially if you want to 100% it.

I also don't like how the lands aren't themed

It could have been a bit more difficult, but I think it's a great game nonetheless. It did its job for me.

Almost a month before anybody has written down anything.....Shame

Well, the game isn't really that new anymore and most everyone has beaten it 100% I guess. Most people would rather discuss the newer games coming out like new super mario bros 3ds
