If a Pokemon newcomer was going to be in the second pass, why would there already be a spirit event when even Three Houses didn't get one before

Exactly. Hell, wasn't it stated that Byleth was already being decided before FE3H was even finished? That's how far ahead they decide things with first party IPs. I really tired of so many Fire Emblem and Pokemon newcomers in each Smash game especially Fire Emblem.

100%. I can't see Sakurai wanting to put Byleth no matter what when the FE3H was still in development and no one had any idea of how Byleth could even play like back then. This was 100% Nintendo's forcing to shill the game, and even more when it was successful (altho by then it was already decided anyway, regardless of success), and our bad luck is that Sakurai likes FE so of course he agreed to it anyway, even tho it took a while for him to learn how Byleth plays, which I think is why it ended being the last in pass 1, lol.
Not happening. We already know we won't see a new fighter in Monday's presentation, so I very much doubt anything else Smash will happen that week. And I know what's gonna happen on that week for Pokemon, It's a Pokemon game made by Tencent. ZhugeEX has been researching this for over a year and he said this week that he is excited for next week's Pokemon news. The only reason he has ever been excited for Pokemon is because of the tencent stuff going on, which also happens to have a tencent event next week I think.
Yeah, Smash has never revealed characters in a non-Smash or non-general Direct. I doubt we'll see a character announcement in the Pokemon Direct.
Maybe they're just assisting other developers of Nintendo. Does that happen? I mean, Monolith helps with Zelda and all.
Yeah it doesn't matter what type of upgrade we get, an upgrade is an upgrade and naysayers will eat crow. Anything is possible!
Well, Roy is a precedent. Corrin too, in a way.
I wouldn't really count Melee reveals as a precedent for the current system for reveals, which is very different. Corrin was, at the very least, released in Japan upon his DLC's release.
This would be a way more extreme version of that though.
I feel like as long as Sakurai doesn't specify that Spring-Man is the only assist trophy to expect from the pass then it shouldn't be a problem. Isaac would rely on whether Nintendo wants to please GS fans or/and if a new Golden Sun really is on the way and they want to tie into it
If it's a hero type character that included Spring Man as one of the characters I think that would take the edge off it just being an "assist trophy promotion" somewhat.
