Nintendo has become really good at avoiding spoilers for smash, we literally have nothing. I'm sure the famous leakers Verg and Loz don't know anything. The only true leak of info was the castlevania music the day before reveal.
Last time we got the Gematsu leak and the ESRB one but now ?
And that's why we always fail at predicting the reveals. Truth is we're clueless

However, it seems like the sides of the box are much less wide than the back and front, meaning there's potentially more space on the backside than the sides for characters to portait. So keep that in mind. Could mean nothing.

Btw, grinded till Isaac is level 37 in Venus Lighthouse. Rest is level 36. Kept going at it till Ivan learned Destruct Ray, cause I always felt that was one of the coolest looking Psynergy, and it'll be easy to zap Saturos and Menardi with.

Why does everyone think someone had to get a costume for doing good in the ballot? Granted, Nintendo never put up the results (obviously because they are using them now) but if the fan polls and exit polls from the ballot time account for anything is that Isaac did well, I am not saying he went around and topped it all but a lot of what we guess (and exit/fan polls put) as the top options have already made the cut, heck, Ridley probably didn't do as well in the ballot due to his boss status in Smash 4 but Sakurai knew he is popular and that fans have demanded him for years.
There is no confirmation that Isaac is in, but there isn't any that he isn't in either, I don't see why it is necessary to bring such negativity to a supporters thread

I don't think there is really any reason to panic right now over the box art. If we've learned anything about the art department at Nintendo, It's all subject to change. I mean just look at the smash mural. They've changed that already a couple of times in a few months. We got some time still before the launch.

Don't underestimate how difficult these predictions are. I don't know if he's made any notable errors, but calling Simon in advance would have been an incredibly lucky guess, and few people seemed to think Isabelle was being revealed yesterday. There's a reason the Gematsu leaks got so much talk during the Sm4sh days despite having errors: getting so much right without some inside information is virtually impossible.

My god dude, take a chill pill. It’s interesting how one direct can make people become so pessimistic. People were saying beforehand that even if we don’t see Isaac, he could totally show up later. Isaac did well as far as we know. Nobody knows anything, so you shouldn’t be so quick to rule him out. The costumes are just a fan rule. Remember when people thought that a newcomer absolutely had to be relevant? ANother fan rule that didn’t pan out.

I may be alone in this, but if this were to happen I’d be perfectly content... as long and Nintendo markets the damn thing properly.

I’ve said it before, but my primary goal is the revival of Golden Sun. Isaac in Smash is a means to that end. I’d still want my Golden Boy in Smash, of course, but I’d be fine with just having the franchise back on its feet.

yeah i don't like being on any extreme side of moods… i like to be optimistic and realistic at the same time. It's easy to fall into pessimism and negativity over anything these days apparently, i dont like to see that.

However, is it really that realistic to expect 2 more newcomers, including echoes? If Vergeben is to be believed (and his track record is solid so far), a Pokemon Rep, a Square-Enix character and Ken are still coming. That already exceeds the two slots.

Yeah I wouldn't put too much stock in the bundle box art. You could even buy the mural before the August direct characters were on it. I also remember people using the spaces to predict newcomers only for the mural to shift accordingly.

A part of me also feels that people are taking this don't expect too many newcomers too literally. There's no way to know on what context. Smash 4 had 21 newcomers, the highest yet, coming off of that, I think Sakurai felt it important to note that bringing everyone back was the main priority and the newcomers this cycle won't be quite as high.

Sakurai likes to put as much content as he can pack in a game, we have no idea what his definition of not a lot of newcomers is but the fandom has once again come up with it's rule that he must be talking about the smallest roster in the series and the amount must be less than that and him saying he's focusing on the ballot, nonsense he only meant like two characters and now we're back to smash 4 style picks. The fandom always views everything pessimistically.

Also I'm not saying we're in for some crazy high amount of newcomers or anything. But if we're at the point of only predicting one or two characters left then we might as well pack up now. Isabelle seems to have promoted Verge to leak guru status in the community's eye now and according to him, we have a Gen 7 rep and al 2nd square character. Yeah I'm really doubting the next three months we're only in for two uniques, but I guess I'll go with the flow.

If anything, this is probably designed "as of now". Isabelle isn't on it, for one. I'm assuming its designed with the current number of characters in mind. Its even possible this is the final design, they'll only add three more characters (including Isabelle), but that's not the full roster. The last few reveals just won't make it onto the box because they came too late.


I don't think there will be any predictable set number, just roughly a few more unique characters and a few more echoes. And Isaac is still a top candidate regardless.

I honestly felt a bit more negative today than yesterday about this but it really makes the wait for the next announcement unbearable. I'm just gonna think positively but keep expectations low. That's the safest strategy

If the ballot was really in our favor, he's in. If it isn't. He's not. I think that's how it will be. And seeing as everyone here or at least most of us here put in a vote or multiple (or convinced others to also vote) he has a solid chance but I can't say it's any higher than 50-60%. As I don't want to jump in and say he's in without a doubt because we just simply don't know.
And we won't know until the launch date I feel. The only real option we can do is to keep supporting even if it looks bleak and wait.
I know it's a stretch but we do have some shreds of information here:
Trademark renewal.
That tweet.
Potential teasing with a vivid sun in K Rool's reveal (a stretch to be sure) which is mirrored by a VERY noticeable moon in the Castlevania segment.
Those dang ole blasted chairs and cushion (I can see them being an Isaac and Felix thing just as easily as they relate to Skull Kid personally).
Website updates.
Polls and polls and more polls where he scored top 10 or even top 5 or better (even crushing some polls at number 1).
More leaks than usual giving us Isaac and Felix.
I'd like to think a couple of these references work for double meanings.

Stretches or not I'd like to think at least a solid fraction of these work in our favor.

I'm expecting that at the very very least we get an assist return or DLC AT LEAST (assist easily being the most disappointing though admittedly). And probably a new remake/game or even both depending on the amount of pushing we give.
I'd like to think it's just a big waiting game and we just need to not stop. Stopping is what our haters WANT us to do. You want them to win? I don't think so.

People are guessing the non shown in that side may be on the other side, I still believe this is just a placeholder because of how no official account has regarded it and because the number just seems unbelievably small (2 characters including echo fighters...). There are some interesting things in that box though. (But I don't want anyone feeling more pessimistic than we already seem to feel today so we may discuss on that later on)

I was worried about the box at first.

But i thought of counterpoints against this. (Since you all LOVE my negativity so much) So i decided to think of ways that this would not be a good indicator of the roster.


1. Nintendo would never give the full details to a marketing team. If that was the case, we'd be seeing tons of leaks by now. Nintendo is about as protective as Disney, i'm sure they're even skeptical of their OWN employees.

2. There is two sides of this that have fighters...But there isn't anything stopping them from putting some revealed characters on the back.

I mean, this is a boxed set after all. It's not like it needs to mimic the switch's original boxart.

3. This really doesn't confirm anything. Nintendo wouldn't leak this because of simply being so secretive.

I have my doubts about Isaac and Black shadow. But that doesn't mean i can't have my doubts about this.
