Well that stung but nothing we can't brush off.

I think the part that is getting us is that Isabelle made more sense as an Echo then a Newcomer. But I also see there being no other way of announcing her then with the Animal Crossing on Switch. It makes the perfect sense and my statistics did say that 2019 for Animal Crossing was possible. I just didn't make the connection sooner. Had I done maybe I would have had my hype levels lower.

It was actually a pretty good Direct to be fair. There were many announcements unspoilt and starting with Luigi's Mansion 3 was amazing. I think right now we are all upset that our boy Isaac didn't get in. But let us not lose hope!

We still have October and November remaining. We still have our chance! And what tonight has proven is that all Worldwide Directs will get a new Smash character. That gives us new hope

Honestly I'm not that surprised.

I think characters like Isaac, Geno, and Skull Kid, if any are in, would most likely debut in a Smash Direct because their fanbases are more (not entirely obviously) driven by Smash.

The only shot any of them had here I think is if some game was being announced alongside.

Man, this is not what I expected my reactions to look like in the end. Luigi's Mansion got the highest peak and the end was incredibly quiet. What a shame.

I didn't really react to anything. (it probably picked up on me coughing a few times )

but then I don't tend to react that much when watching directs anyway, it probably would have taken something really big to get a reaction out of me.

This bodes well for Isaac since he was not shown off yet.

Ok, so first of all I’m really happy for Isabelle and her fans, she totally deserved to make it in. Isaac still totally has a chance too (although I hope he’s the 70th fighter and doesn’t have to live with forever being number 69)

I’m admittedly slightly disappointed because of how the stars seemed to be aligning today, and I feel like Isabelle was so obvious she could’ve gone along with another character. I feel like the trailer would’ve made a better opener for the direct instead of a closer, and the whole thing was a bit “yeah, we know you’re in smash just get on with it”. And I legit thought they were gonna announce Tom Nook as an echo.

I still have faith in Isaac, and even if he doesn’t make the base game there’s always DLC.

We didn't get Isaac but I think we are still in the right track. It does make a lot of sense that they'd reveal someone like Isabelle for a general direct to hype up people that have been looking forward to more animal crossing for a long time now.

If you think about it, it'd be cooler if we got a longer GS segment on a smash direct, than having a random reveal on a boring direct that would give Isaac very little impact to a big public that's not even as invested in golden sun. If anything, the theory about the chairs and Sakurai's office holds less water now but we can also look at the positives:

- Isaac didn't get AT'd
- The Rathalos picture theory still holds water
- The re-trademark from earlier could still mean something

There's still chance! Maybe we just have to wait for a little longer!

The only thing about the direct that really excited me was now people with a Switch can play the three best Final Fantasy games, VII, IX, and X.

So here's the thing, I'm super excited for Luigi's mansion 3 and the new animal crossing. It is great that Isabelle isn't just an Echo I wouldn't have liked that and she's really cute.

So ... yea I'm pretty disappointed especially after all this waiting for the direct and how better the previous ones were imo.

hey y'all here's a theory though, what if Isaac was originally meant to be part of this trailer but they DID in fact cut his video out and swapped it with a quick reveal of isabelle and the AC announcement? sure the length of the direct was the same, but you definitely could tell SOME editing happened, so who's to say they didn't edit out Isaac's full reveal? and the reason being that they probably felt it was still too soon after the quake and his trailer possibly having his powers cause a quake or something? For all we know sakurai and his team might be scrambling to create a completely new trailer for him that they feel won't so easily remind folks of the disaster that just happened.

I'm happy for Isabelle fans that she got in. I mean, I expected her anyway. I think she's a semi-clone. A Wolf or Roy in that regard. He attacks looked like they had similar effects to Villager, including balloons for a recovery, dropping something, and planting something. A lot of similar things, but way different effects.


Her trailer was the most boring trailer in existence and I think should've been saved for later, but eh, whatever.


Also, the blog post on the website is 134 for her trailer. Given it was just one trailer, I still think we're missing 137. There wasn't any other big reveals here like an Echo, AT or anything, either, so the other skipped/rescheduled posts don't make a lot of sense, but I'm not jumping to any inclusions on them.


Also... I'm starting to think Dixie and Bandana Waddle Dee could get similar treatement, assuming I'm right about Isabelle being a semi-clone. Semi-clones may not be dead.


Otherwise I'm sorry I wasted everybody's time.

Laura Kate Dale and Ryan Brown, along with the typical leakers are all saying the game in question that got the direct delayed was the game Cities: Skyline. It's a sandbox game where cities can get destroyed and stuff. Would have been insensitive after the incident in Hokkaido.

I’m actually not too upset with Isabelle, although for a second there I really did think this was Isaac’s time. I’m more disappointed with how the reveal was handled. The reveal wasn’t hype at all, in fact it was kind of a drag actually. After the three super hype reveal trailers we’ve gotten, it’s a bit of a letdown. Also, I don’t really think Isabelle makes sense as a unique, given that she could just as easily be an echo. Also, the fact that we had to wait an extra week, even though it wasn’t Nintendo’s fault and was for a very good reason, made some of us expecting more than we got. Happy for the Isabelle fans though, and this doesn’t really change Isaac’s chances. Stay hyped, guys!

I think this is still good if I’m being honest. Isabelle’s been a major rising Nintendo character, and a really big name for potential Smash characters. She probably even did really well in the ballot. I feel like she’s complete justified as a unique character.

I don’t think this effects Isaac all that much. I’m still rather optimistic all things considered.

Personally she's an okay addition. I'm happy for her fans and it's great we finally got news of an Animal Crossing game coming to the Switch. (And I'm actually glad that they gave her a fishing rod. Back when I thought of an Animal Crossing character if they were in Smash Bros, I always imagined them using a fishing rod for something like a tether or grab)

Anyways, the Direct had some highlights but some stuff was a bit weaker in some sections compared to other parts. As for our Golden Boy's finest hour, we'll just have to wait and see if it'll come later.

I was only expecting Isaac in a Nintendo direct if there was a Golden Sun Remastered, we knew Isabelle would be in the game and she appeals to a way more casual audience.

Isaac got tease, is not an AT and GS got trademark again.

It should be noted that the direct (and most all directs) conform to the casual market and Isabelle joining is for better or worse good advertising for Nintendo Online and is a favorite of the casual gaming audience. Issac just doesn't bring in this base line party audience and is more fitting for a solo or Smash Direct reveal.
